Brothers and Sisters

My owner Vulpy loved us both very much. Me and Gratue the Gelert were like the BEST NeoPets she could ever want! She told us that every day. But NP was just too hard to find. She could only buy the bitten red and green apples from the main food store for about 2 or 3 NP. But when she was lucky, she'd get a bitten green apple for free from the nice Chia. I was getting sick of eating apples, even though I knew it was all we could afford. But sometimes you just have to accept it with a happy heart.

Vulpy was getting sad. We were too. She hadn't groomed us for weeks and we were beginning to look very dirty. As Gratue laid his head on his two front paws and I sat down on the curb Vulpy looked up at us. Her eyes were watery. The wind swept her brown hair over her face and she looked down again. I was concerned. She looked up again and looked back and forth... from me to Gratue, Gratue to me. I knew what was going to happen. Gratue raised his head from his paws and cocked his head. He was younger than me, I wasn't sure if he knew what Vulpy was going to do.

She sighed as a teardrop fell from her eye and picked a penny from the floor. She said to Gratue, "Heads or tails?" Gratue didn't know what she wanted to flip a coin for, but I did. I looked at Gratue. "Heads?" He said in a whimpered voice. Vulpy gave a long sigh and flipped the coin up into the air. It landed. She quickly looked at it and put it away so we couldn't see. Oh no, I thought to myself, Oh no...

Vulpy ran to our place and grabbed Gratue's red bouncy ball and 2 beautiful red apples that weren't bitten. She said, " I was going to save these..for.. for another time but...but...I want you to have them." She put the apples and his ball in a bag and called Gratue outside. I looked out the window as she cried and hugged him. "I'll come back for you someday, Gratue, I'll come back." She and him walked down to Pet Central. I came with them. We stepped up to the Neopian Adoption Agency. Vulpy stared at the mean lady behind the abandon desk. "Hello.. I.. I'd like to...."

The lady grunted at her "80 NP!!!" Vulpy sighed and looked at the floor. She took her NP wallet out and reached inside. "Oh no.." She only had 40 NP in her wallet. The lady said, "No money no abandon!" But then she found 50 NP on the floor! She handed the lady 80 NP and, gave Gratue the bag with his ball and the two good apples.

Gratue looked up at her, and cried. Vulpy cried and ran out of the room, not wanting to say good-bye to him. I think I was crying too.. I ran up to Gratue and hugged him. "Don't worry, we'll come back for you!" and I left.

Vulpy gradually got richer and richer. As soon as she had 20,000 NP in her bank account she ran up to me and twirled me n the air. "Oh Bluelina! I can manage to buy you guys some Neocola and slices of Chocopie now!" you guys? Gratue was coming back home!!!!!!! I ran outside with Vulpy to the adoption center. The mean lady was there still. I eyed her suspiciously and then saw the yellow Blumaroo. "Would you like to adopt?" it said. Vulpy gave a big smile a nodded. We ran inside and specifically asked for Gratue.

The results.............. He wasn't in the pound!!!!!! Vulpy's eyes got wide with fear, had someone taken him?!? We ran out and used the NeoPets search and found Gratue belonging to.. to.. another Neopian! Vulpy gave a cry and plopped herself on the floor. "We'll never see him again Bluelina! Never!" She sat crying there for almost an hour. I looked up at a star. My brother is with another person who probably loves him and feeds him way better than Vulpy could've but.... I cried too.

Vulpy checked on Gratue every week in the search database and boy he seemed happy... And soon he got to be painted a Christmas Gelert! Vulpy moaned when she saw how well he was now. She never looked up Gratue after that time.

About 2 or 3 months passed. Vulpy was now a Neopian with a Diamond Deposit account. She and me were so happy but one day she looked at me. "You need a friend," she said. Next morning, there was a new blue baby Aisha waiting to meet me. "Bluelina, meet AquaVulpix, your new little sister." I gave a leap of joy but the pain of remembering Gratue touched me still. Now me and AquaVulpix are the best of friends, and since I want to see Gratue so much, I will challenge him in the Battledome!!

Gratue's owner, wherever you are, I want to challenge him to a fight in the Battledome! I just HAVE to see him again, and that's the only way how! I want to see how well you are taking care of him and if my little brother is tougher than me or not! SO! Will you accept...?
