The Other Side of the Story: A Sequel to MaTricie's Crush

by reesesluver

Rokell the fire Wocky stood triumphantly over the vanquished Kougra. The crowd in the Battledome roared with delight and threw Neopoints into the ring. However, Rokell's mind wasn't on the money, it was on a situation which had occurred a few months ago. He had been in the woods, bounding easily, glad to be away from his three brothers for once. Traveling along on a little known path that he knew very well he paused, for up ahead was a striped Wocky He slowed for she seemed lost, then boldly walked up to her.

"Are you lost?" She didn't seem to hear him, so he repeated it louder, staring into her beautiful eyes. "Are you lost?"

She blinked and snapped out of the daze she was in. "I guess I am...I was just looking around and then," she stammered.

Rokell smiled. "You got lost, right? Well, if you like I can bring you back to the edges of the forest..." He paused and looked at her, spotted her jeweled collar and read the tag. "MaTricie. That's a pretty name. I'm Rokell, nice to meet you." He trotted off at a blistering pace, trying to keep his cool. This girl was cute! She kept up, although, Rokell, lost in the moment, didn't know how she did.

Slowing down at the main path, he turned to her but didn't speak for a moment, eyes dancing and studying her beautiful striped coat. "Well, this is as far as I can go. Can you make it from here?"

Rokell could feel himself starting to blush, but was sure it wasn't visible through his fiery fur coat. She said something, but he wasn't entirely sure what it was, as if it had been a dream. He watched as she had run off, gazing after her. A while later, a shadowed Gelert ran up to him, panting heavily. "Rokell I've been looking for you everywhere! Where've you been?"

Rokell grinned at his brother. "I met a girl Ryhung."

Ryhung nodded knowingly. "Ahh, Wocky love, eh? Well, it's time to come home, it's almost dark!"

Rokell looked up at the setting sun and panicked. "Mal will have my hide!" Going at their fastest the pair sped home.

A day or two later he got a phone call from MaTricie. He spoke with her briefly and then went out with his owner, Mal, to look for bargains for her shop. He sauntered merrily into the Neopian Magic shop to speak with its owner about reserving an Earth Faerie. As he paid the down payment and turned to go a female stone Wocky trotted into the shop. Rokell's furry jaw dropped as he stared at her. She pretended to not notice him and walked to the counter to buy a Frost Mote.

He went outside, spellbound and sat on the bench in the park to wait for Mal. The female stone Wocky walked out of the Magic Shop and purposefully began walking toward him. He sat quietly, observing the way her fur was neatly combed and trimmed. Just then, Mal walked up, looking quite happy with a cheap Lesser Nerkmid. "C'mon Rokell, let's go to the Vending Machine." He nodded and bounced off the bench after her.

After picking up a Glowing Paintbrush because the Machine was out of food, Mal gave him a few hundred Neopoints to spend in town while she went and sold the Brush. Rokell thought a moment and went to the Beauty Shop to pick up a new bottle of Shampoo. As he walked in the door, he saw the female stone Wocky again. She was behind the counter and serving an irritable Buzz. He grabbed the bottle and waited in line. When it was finally his turn, he read the small name tag on the Wocky's scruff. "Hi, I'm Arin37," it read.

She smiled at him while ringing up the Shampoo. "Hi." Rokell blushed at the recognition.

"Hi." A Usul walked up behind the counter.

"I'll take over now Arin."

She nodded and walked out of the store beside him. In no time at all, they both knew each other's life history and had developed a bond. Rokell thought about MaTricie and felt horrible. Later that week, Arin and Rokell were walking through the forest. Rokell's fine hearing detected a distant whimper. Leaping ahead of Arin into a clearing, he saw MaTricie being attacked by a Ghost.

Summoning the magic he had learned from a fire scroll, he let loose a fireball at the Ghost. Arin walked up beside him as she got up. Rokell felt like a total jerk and turned to Arin sadly. That brings us up to the present. Rokell began battling to get away from his sadness, but after the few fights, he was almost back to his old self. Arin and Rokell have stuck together, even though Rokell was rather cautious the first two months.
