FangBoogy

by neojungleboogy

FangBoogy was born atop the Mountains of Neopia. Fang was the first born in a litter of five rare, golden Lupe pups. He was born to the most prominent pack of Lupes in Neopia. Fang's father was the pack leader, Apollo. Apollo & his wife, Storm led a pack of Lupes that consisted of their 4 daughters & 1 son from their previous litters, and Apollo's brother Rocky. This pack was legendary throughout Neopia. They were known as fierce warriors and skilled hunters. They reigned over the mountains of Neopia, where they lived. They had first choice of food, housing, etc. All their NeoPet neighbours respected and also feared them.

Fang was born in his family's cave, at the top of the NeoMountains during a severe winter storm. The food supply was very low. Usually Apollo would have just led the pack to another part of the mountains, where there would be more food. But with the newborn pups, it was impossible for the pack to travel through the snowstorm. Apollo was reluctant to leave his newborn pups but he knew they would starve without him hunting. So Apollo, Rocky, and one of his daughters would travel far throughout the mountains each day to hunt for food for the pack. The rest of the pack stayed behind to help Storm with her pups and to protect the pups from the pack's enemies.

Like most prominent families, Apollo's pack had many enemies that would have loved to overthrow them and seize power over the NeoMountains. These enemies included rival Lupe packs as well as other mountain dwelling NeoPet breeds. Although Apollo tried to be discreet about his packs vulnerable predicament word soon spread. Storm and the pack members that remained behind with her were soon fighting off attackers almost on a daily basis as Apollo and the rest of the pack traveled farther and farther to get food. And as the journey's for food became farther they also became longer, and the attacks on Storm became more frequent and more vicious. And Apollo was too preoccupied with hunting for food to find and punish his family's attackers. He soon decided that only he and his son would go hunting and the rest of the pack would stay behind to fight off attackers. While this helped to diminish the attacks on Storm and the newborn pups, it proved devastating for hunting for food.

Apollo's son was not as skilled a hunter as Rocky, so the food they caught was much less than before, which even then was just barely enough to satiate the hunger of everyone in the pack. And now the pups were weaning, switching from their mother's milk to solid food. In addition to all of this Apollo and his son often had their food stolen from them by other hunters who greatly outnumbered the two. The pack was now hungry and becoming weaker everyday. They were tired from hunting and fighting. Apollo let things continue on like this in hope for the snowstorm to end soon or for the pups to become strong enough to travel. One of the pups soon became lifeless because of starvation.

Rocky soon left the pack to search for food on his own and so that the rest of the pack could make more of what little food they did have. Apollo, seeing no signs of the snowstorm ending soon, decided the pack had to move in search of food. The pack proceeded to travel across the NeoMountains in search of food and better living conditions. To avoid their enemies they traveled at night through rarely used passageways. The reason the passageways were rarely used was because they were dangerous. But the pack had to use them now. Apollo and his son traveled ahead to make sure the path was safe and to get whatever food they could find. One of the pups was caught in an avalanche and one of Apollo's older daughters was destroyed as well trying to save the pup. The pack went on. Soon their enemies learned of their plight. They searched and found the pack, launching the most viscous attack yet. Two of Apollo's daughters were gone and his son was severely injured, they barely managed to defeat their attackers.

Storm led her son to a secret cave, that only the pack knew of, in hope that he would recover. She left one of her pups, that was too weak to continue along with him. And she left her only remaining daughter to watch over and hunt for them. Apollo, Storm, Fang and his brother continued on. Storm and the pups stuck to using secret pathways as Apollo hunted for food on his own. The once prominent family was now broken, desperate, and starving. When they were too weak to go on Storm chose another secret cave to stay in. She and the pups remained in the cave as Apollo went off in search of food. Storm hoped the pup she left behind and her other children were doing better than she was. Apollo returned with a decent amount of food and some rumours he'd heard during his hunts. He told Storm that he'd heard that the rest of their surviving family were found and destroyed.

Their rivals loosely joined together and seized control of the NeoMountains. The NeoMountains was now in disarray, and turmoil, with many groups trying their hardest to seize control. The pack's friends were also found and those that fought were destroyed, the rest were kept as slaves. Apollo also told her that he'd heard their was a price on their heads, and their pups'. The news depressed, and scared Storm. She moped around the cave for the next few days. Apollo had to continue to go out and hunt in hopes of rebuilding his once untouchable pack. Storm worried each time he left that he wouldn't return, and although it hurt her immensely, she prepared for it.

The snowstorm was now ending. Fang and his brother were growing quickly and becoming restless to go outside the cave. Storm made sure they never left no matter how restless they became. One night Apollo went hunting and never returned. It had been two weeks. Apollo never left for so long before. Storm knew what had happened and what she must do. She had to hunt for herself and her cubs. So she left them alone in the cave and stepped back out into the world for the first time in weeks, in search of food. Each night that she left Fang and his brother ventured further and further outside of their cave.

Since the snowstorm was over the food supply increased greatly, Storm's hunts were successful. The pups were getting stronger. One day during Fang and his brother's explorations while Storm was out hunting they stumbled across another litter of Lupe pups around the same age as them. There were four pups all together. Fang and his brother were intrigued but when the other pups saw them, they responded aggressively. Soon a fight erupted. Fang and his brother fought the other pups off ferociously. They soon forced them to flee. The pups parents had heard the commotion and witnessed the fight. They hadn't seen fighting like that since the downfall of Apollo's pack. They knew that Fang & his brother were the remaining pups. They followed them back to their cave without them knowing. A couple of nights later, as storm and her pups rested, a pack of Lupes crept in for an attack. Storm, catching their scents, immediately knew she was outnumbered. She woke her pups and they fled with the attacking pack right behind them. As they came to the edge of a cliff with a raging river far below they came to a halt. Storm then flung Fang over the cliff. As she proceeded to fling his brother over as well the attacking pack caught up with her and stopped her. As Fang plummeted toward the river he heard the cries of his brother, and the ferocious growls of his mother as she tried to fight off her attackers.

As Fang awoke he remembered splashing into the raging river and crashing into a rock that knocked him unconscious. He looked around and found himself in strange surroundings. Just then NeoJungleBoogy walked in and explained how he'd found Fang unconscious and injured at the bank of the river while he was fishing. He took Fang out of the river, cleaned him, dried him, and nursed his wounds. This was the start of an unbreakable friendship. And Jungle acquired his first NeoPet since he'd come to Neopia.
