Medicine Prices: What's Happened?

by Kelsiface

Have you been needing some medicine today (8th of the Sleeping, Yr. 3); whether for your shop, your pet, or a quest? Have you seen the prices on a few items? They've skyrocketed!! Kikoughela Syrup and Tongue Shrinkers are the ones I've seen rise. Why is it though? I mean, it's not like there has been a sudden attack of Kikoughela or Floppy Tongue, has there? Not that I know of!

Anyway, I first noticed this earlier this afternoon, maybe 12 NST. I needed Kikoughela Syrup and a Tongue Shrinker for a snow quest I was doing. Each was at a higher rate than usual: I remember the Tongue Shrinker was priced about 200 NP higher than usual. They were all that way too: I refreshed several times. This evening, around 5:15 NST, I went on another quest, this time a witch quest. I was hoping to get Spider Licorice: I need it for an Esophagor quest, obviously for a brain quest. Well, one of the things I needed was a Tongue Shrinker. Since the medicine shop was empty (WOW), I decided to look through the Shop Wizard. I was, and am, truly amazed at the prices. The lowest I saw was 5000-7000 NP!! That's a HUGE increase in 5 hours. Annoyed and interested, I decided to look up Kikoughela Syrup. That also is 5000-7000 NP!! WHY?? That's what I want to know...

That's a rise of about 5000 NP in 5 hours!! I have never seen such a thing! Why is EVERYONE raising their prices? Why are people willing to buy at that rate? I mean, I understand people with sick pets, but others are still making them rise! I know it's all supply and demand, but why such a HUGE demand? I haven't heard of anything like this before! Is there an epidemic going around? Or is something in the Battledome doing this? What? Truly, what?

I truly have no clue why this has made such a rise today. It couldn't just be the economy, right? Impossible. Also: Why just these medicines? Why not Magic Socks, or even Step Out Shoes? Why these medicines? Another mystery...

And why suddenly is the Medicine Shop SELLING OUT?? I have never seen it happen before, thinking about it... Is the Battledome giving pets injuries, making the medicine more in demand? Or do people (NON-BATTLEDOME TESTERS) just think there will be a sudden demand for medicine once the Battledome opens to the masses, the millions? I don't really know. I would like to though... Maybe we can find an answer, and hopefully merchants will lower these items back to their normal price. I do wish it so...

We'll see...Kelsiface here, your inquisitive shopper, signing off.
