"This can't be happening!" King Pyhtus shrieked as he paced the royal hall.
"I won't believe it!"
"Please, don't yell like that. They're sleeping." his wife soothed.
There had been great anticipation in Maraqua for the Koi King's child. Maraqua
was usually all a flutter but today it was not so. The babies were part Peophin,
part Faerie. They had jewels on their foreheads as Peophins do and had long
silky purple hair like a Peophin's mane. They also had the large, beautiful
blue eyes of the Air Faerie and had thin purple wings like that of the Faerie
Queen. They were the most beautiful little babies in Neopia, and yet their father
shunned them and called them mutated and awful words like that.
"I'll name you Prypha," the Queen whispered, pointing at the little girl. "And
you're Merfeud.." she said as she touched the little boy lightly on the nose. He
giggled softly.
The councillor bounded into the hall. "How did this happen?! You!" he said,
pointing to the queen. "It must have been you! You got the faeries mad and they
cursed those- those things!"
The queen clutched the little children tightly. "So what if they're not Koi?
I won't let you harm them!" she said.
The councillor nodded to the guards and they took the children forcefully
from the Koi Queen.
"Pyhtus! Do something!" she yelled, but her husband stood still as stone with
an unmoving face.
His cold eyes glanced once at the children and he left the hall. At the same
time in a place far, far away the Island Mystic opened his eyes.
"They are here." he murmured.
He had prophesied that day that two Faeries of a special kind would save Neopia
from a tragedy that even the Uber Faeries and the queen herself could not stop.
That prophecy would grow to become somewhat of a legend for Neopian folks, but
in Maraqua it was not to be mentioned. Prypha and Merfeud were shipped off to
different places in Neopia. Prypha to the Land of Lupes, and Merfeud to the
Land of Zafaras.
Prypha grew up as a farm girl, cooking and growing food for the pack with the
other Lupes. Merfeud grew up normally and excelled in school. Prypha was just
as smart but she had no opportunity to prove it...
