Gertrude and Liletine were forced to walk at gunpoint, lest they try
to escape. But even that couldn't stop Liletine.
When the soldiers weren't looking she fished through her handbag and
found her smoke machine. She quietly slipped a tissue over Gertrude's
mouth and held her breath. Liletine pushed the bug red button.
Smoke seeped out of the machine like water out of a sponge. The guards
coughed and let them go.
Liletine grinned. "Come on!" she yelled and our heroes sprinted down
the tunnel.
As they ran Gertrude said, "But that won't do us any good. They probably
sent the main office some kind of message. I bet all the guards on the
ship know we're here."
"No they don't." Liletine said slyly.
"But how?" Gertrude panted. Liletine didn't tell, she just told Gertrude
to run faster.
Then all of a sudden Liletine told Gertrude to halt. They were in front
of a large metal door. Fortunately it wasn't locked. Liletine eased it
open silently. Gertrude peered in. There was a single light in the metal
room, and that was on a lab table where there sat Herymon Sloth himself,
a genius at work. He turned around in his swivel chair. He looked just
as hideous and sly as his father. Herymon Sloth was grinning from ear
to ear.
"I was expecting you, Liletine." he said loudly. "You were one of my
father's biggest enemies. He knew you were part of the Sloth Resistance.
I have made it a point to go after the resistance members first and you
were the first name on my list," he paused to let the words sink in.
"Then the faeries, especially that dreaded Space Faerie. I see you brought
your friend with you. I fooled you. I wasn't working on the ray gun. The
ray gun is already complete. You are my guinea pigs. Guards!" he called.
A bunch of armed Grundos took them.
"No," Gertrude pleaded.
"You're mutated. I'm sure you still want to be normal Grundos again.
Please give us the chance you didn't have!"
The guards looked at each other silently. They nodded and let our heroes
go. Each one was so sad, you could see it in their faces. They walked
to Sloth. Sloth pointed the ray gun at them, but they kept on walking.
"No!" Gertrude cried. "Liletine, don't let them be destroyed for us!"
Liletine nodded and reaching into her handbag. She pulled out a little
blue box with a little red button. On it was written GLASS CONTRAPTION.
She smiled softly and just as Herymon Sloth pressed the button of the
ray gun she pressed the button for her contraption. Mirrors can reflect
almost anything and fortunately they can reflect rays, too. The ray of
the ray gun went full force back to Herymon and he simply disappeared.
It turned out he hadn't fixed the ray gun properly. It was supposed to
mutate things but now it made them disappear.
EPILOGUE: The ray gun got smashed up so that it could never harm anyone
again. Liletine and Gertrude took all the poor mutated Grundo soldiers
back to Neopia and Liletine made a machine that turned them back to normal.
They were put in the pound. Next time you think of making a NeoPet, why
don't you adopt one instead. There's lots of pets there just perfect for
you and you'd be just perfect for them.
