The Encounter
Moonlight still gripped the sword in her teeth as she galloped through
the dry sands of Salamandastron, her Warf still clinging onto her fur.
RedFlame yanked out a Faerie from his pack and opened the jar. It was
the Fire Faerie, his favourite. She blessed him with a more powerful attack
than he expected. It was the Fireball power. He fired fireballs at the
attacking army of Evil Techos. All that was left of the Evil Techos were
their glowing red eyes.
"Well, that certainly was easy!" Mystic laughed.
"Don't be so sure."
RedFlame watched in horror as each eye rapidly grew into a Techo, doubling
the number of Techos. Moonlight charged at the heavily armed Techos. She
ran as fast as she could, listening to her paws thunder on the ground.
Lowering her head, she slammed into them, knocking them over like bowling
pins. She ran backwards, then charged again, before the Techos could recover.
Mystic already knew an attack, which she fired at the Techos, combined
with RedFlame's Fireball. The Evil Techos exploded in a sickening green
light. Exhausted, the three laid down to rest on that very spot.
The next day, RedFlame awoke first. He looked at his friends and when
he was sure they were asleep he opened his pack, gently laid Ruff on the
sand and searched for the book that Nicodemus had given him. When he found
it, he flipped through the pages, reading then flipping, reading then flipping.
Finally he found what he was looking for. It was a map of Neopia, complete
with who lived there, where they lived and whether they were evil or not.
Quickly, he looked for Salamandastron and found out that not all the Techos
living there were evil. RedFlame scrawled a message on the ground that
he would be back, and just that he was going to look for something. RedFlame
set off at an easy pace, moving silently from cave to cave. He stopped.
Screams and yells were echoing from the inside of a cave. He crept inside,
fumbling for his sword that he had secretly packed for the journey.
An Evil Techo was standing on a ledge, assessing the other slave Techos.
He lashed out with his whip-like tail, striking any slaves who did wrong.
Anger boiled up inside RedFlame. He stealthily climbed up the ledge, and,
when the Chief had his back turned, he struck. He struck with a blow so
powerful and hard, the Chief Techo could not react.
Suddenly, a black figure stepped out from the shadows. He was a Lupe
like no other. Belts covered with thick spikes were fastened around his
neck and paws, while a pair of daggers were strapped on his sides. The
thing that astonished RedFlame was the stranger's tail. Unlike normal
Lupes' bushy ones, his was some sort of flexible metal, lined with menacing
spikes and tipped with a long, curving blade. His eyes were blood red,
and his face was lined with heavy steel.
Every single strand of fur was black and as hard as steel. What RedFlame
was looking at was the War Lord himself. He was Assassin, the Dark Lupe.
