Recently in the Neopian Times I have seen different articles on the
Neopian economy, Rich vs. Poor, and tips on making money. Well, here’s
some great advice on making money. Why is it great? Because recently I
gained a Platinum account at the National Neopian Bank. It works!
First off, you need enough money to make a start. Try playing a bunch
of different games daily. If you can play 3 of each of the Java games
listed below daily, and the slots frequently, you’ll be rolling in the
dough in no time at all. The games I recommend most are:
Kacheek Seek - It’s good for starters because its simple, free,
and fast, later on you’ll want to play other more interesting games.
Scorchy Slots - Be sure to come to the slots with lots of spare
NP, you don’t win often, but when you do you can win BIG, if I play for
a while, sometimes I can gain up to 1000 NP and a map piece.
Kiko Match - you can easily receive 500 NP per day if you play
carefully, and it’s a very fast game. Try going straight across the top
to memorize the cards, instead of moving randomly.
The Sub-Game - It’s a little time consuming, and takes getting
used to, but it pays off.
The Pumpkin Patch - It’s fast, it’s hard, and it can get you 210
NP per day.
Gormball - It’s simple, and has better odds than some of the other
gambling games (chances of winning are 1 in 8). Most importantly it costs
only 10 NP, but you will gain around 20 NP even if you lose, and around
80 NP if you win! Besides an NP bonus, winners will receive random items,
oftentimes rare and valuable ones.
Okay, now after you’ve made a bit of a start the first thing you need
to do is open a shop. Even if you don’t have a lot of things, it’s a for
turning items to NP, and it’s a little more simple and reliable than the
auctions. First, remember to keep some items that you get, you can make
a handsome profit selling food, but your own pet will need some! There
are several main shops in Neopia that will almost always sell things for
lower than you can find them anywhere else. However, look for special
bargains with the Shop Wizard, just by remaining vigilant you can find
some incredible deals. In fact that's the only time you want to buy, when
you know you’re getting a good deal, and you can sell it for higher. Whenever
you’re setting your shops prices, check them against the shop wizard,
it may seem tedious, but if your prices aren’t the lowest, you’ll have
a hard time selling things. Another important thing that many overlook
is decorating their shop. Even if you're not into big backgrounds and
mile long shop entry messages, you can still pick a nice color scheme.
(That's pretty much all I've done) You can find html help for your shop
at:

Also, when you become wealthier, you can begin dealing in items that
have a greater range of prices (and more possible NP), such as paintbrushes,
PetPets, and other valuables.
Another issue I should bring up, are trades. I personally do not like
the trading post, there aren’t enough people using it yet, and people
charge ridiculous prices. But if you remain dedicated, playing games,
filling your shop, it won’t be long until you’ve got a diamond, or even
platinum account of your own.
The last thing I’d like to discuss is the Neopian Stock Market The market
is not a reliable source of income, rather, it should only be invested
in when you believe you have a steady financial base. Months ago I saw
an interesting looking company who’s slogan was: You think it, we make
it. I invested a chunk of my savings (1,600 NP for 2 shares), and
forgot about it. After a several month vacation from NeoPets, I came back
to find my two shares had blossomed to a value of 50,000 NP. That company
was Cybun.
A handy rule of thumb before you invest, is if you would not be able
to handle losing all the money that you plan on investing, don’t invest
it. Also don’t invest more than 1/5 of your savings. Now, the stock market
is extremely erratic, more so than the real world stock market Stocks
can go up 50%, and then crash to half its value in a day. Don’t invest
if you can’t watch your stocks. Many rules of the real world apply to
the market, buy low sell high. Don’t buy a stock that just went the highest
it’s gone in a few months, and also, don’t sell your stock when it reaches
an all time low. Investors that do those two things tend to hurt the market,
and also become poor. As a last tip for the market, read the Neo-Market
article every week in the Neopian times! Chances are if they even mention
the stock, it will most definitely go up.
Well that’s about it, I would be delighted if you could Neomail me with
your thoughts/results. (My user name is Andenno) Thank you for your time
and thanks to NeoPets for putting my article in.
