The Green Eyed Kacheek

by ShellyBelly72

Annkel muttered to herself as her owner ShellyBelly72 held the Kau in her arms. "How come Briag gets all the attention?" she wondered. Annkel was a young Kacheek. She was said to be the most beautiful Kacheek in all the world. She had always been her owner's rising star until Briag was adopted.

"Annkel, can you watch Briag while I run to town for some burgers?" asked ShellyBelly72.

"I guess," answered Annkel reluctantly.

"How come you hate me?" asked Briag.

"I don't hate you," answered Annkel.

Briag kept on telling Annkel that he knew that she was jealous. Annkel was infuriated. How dare a little kindergartner tell her, a 7th grader how she felt!!! She stomped off to her room. About an hour later Shelly returned with three big bags.

"I thought you only went to get burgers," said Annkel suspiciously.

"Oh, I picked a few surprises for you guys," she said. She dumped one of the bags in front of Briag, who was sitting on the floor reading Wonderful Wockies.

"Wow," he said as he stared at the books, blocks, toys, and dolls in front of him.

"Is there anything for me?" asked Annkel.

"Oh yes," said Shelly as she handed her three pencils. She muttered a small thank you and ran to her room.

She was so hurt. She pulled out the big purple velvet backpack her mother had gotten her last Christmas and stuffed in a sweater, 2 pairs of pants, a T-shirt, a pair of mittens, and a hat. Then she pushed in two books and her stuffed teddy bear. She ran out to the pantry and grabbed a loaf of bread and two bottles of water. She snuck past the kitchen where Shelly was baking and ran out the front door. She trudged through the streets for about 3 hours until she reached the Marketplace.

Then she saw Diahblo, her big time crush. She ducked behind a trash can and began to watch him. She screamed as she felt something wet and slimy on her hand.

So much for being hidden. She saw Diahblo turn to her, so she ran as fast as she could. Then BOOM! she fell to the ground with a thud. Annkel opened her eyes. Her owner was above her. Oh Annkel...you're awake. You had the entire city worried. Huh? annkel wondered. She looked up, the room had been overrun with balloons and gifts.

"You've been asleep for three days now," said Shelly. "I'm sorry I made you feel left out! I love you Annkel."

"I love you too Shelly," said Annkel.

They hugged and hugged. That is how the Kacheeks became peaceful. Ever since Annkel awakened, the Kacheeks have looked up to her
