Today, I take you onto both sides of the story on the
entire debate of Chias versus Lupes. I have gone undercover in a chatroom
to see both sides of the story-the story of both Chia-dissers and Chia-lovers.
First, I will tell you my name (the reporter) is Valerie,
Val for short. The various screen names are the names of the people I
talked with, and yes, they have given me permission to use their usernames.
Valerie: "Today, I talk to just one of the simple Neopians
that want in on this entire Chia-Lupe thing. I give you, Owlet15."
Owlet15: "Chias should leave Lupes alone."
Val: "Oh? Tell me more."
At that, a new member, Zero0000000000 (zero for short)
entered the room.
Zero: "I just hope it's stopped."
Val: "Why?"
Zero: "Truly both Chias and Lupes are the problem, they
fight each other like siblings. I just think they should take it out of
the RPG boards and someplace else."
Owler15: "Chias are too cheery for Lupes. I mean, Lupes
have a dark side, too."
At that, four new people entered, all wanting in on the
debate: The_sporker (spork for short) Darkdragon272 (Dark for short) Meiling_li17
(Li for short) and Sejin.
Spork: "I don't like how only Chias and Lupes are involved.
I eat Chias, and my Wocky, Star_Of_Sporks (other account) eats Chias,
too. My pets love them. Skeith eat 'em too."
Dark: "It's just nice to have rivalry. Take my opinion,
I have both, I see both sides of the story. A rivalry is healthy, but
a friendship is too. Nobody should look down upon either one of these
as long as people can learn to understand."
Li: "I think that Lupes eating Chias isn't all that nice.
I mean, I have no problems with Lupes, but I think Chias are adorable!
I would never eat one. I wonder what they taste like though."
Sejin: "I believe that there is no reason for such animosity
between Lupes and Chias All pets should coexist in this world of Neopia.
There is no need for senseless feuds." At this point, I had to agree with
Sejin. But I said nothing, as it might break up the interview into fights.
Then, Crunkette walked in.
Crunkette: "Lupes can eat what they want--Chias and all--as
long as it's not someone's pet they're eating. A wild Chia, fine. An Owner's
beloved pet, not fine. There's a line to be drawn, but you can't stop
the force of nature. That's my 2 cents."
That's exactly what she said, and walked off. But ssamaluk,
Sammi, as she liked to be called, a great friend of mine, marched right
in there. She said it clear and straight, but there was something mysterious
that left me hanging.
Sammi: "I believe that it has nothing to do with Chia/Lupe
differences, I believe it has something to do with the owners."
Val: "Sammi, are there any more comments on that?"
But by the time I asked that, she was already at Hubert's
Hot-Dog Stand ordering a chili dog. I was off there thinking and had no
idea that an argument had sprung up. The first thing I heard was by Li.
Li: "Chias are NOT hairy jellybeans! If this turns into
a war..well, it won't. So what am I worrying about? If it does (like the
Lennys against the Pteris), I'M WITH THE CHIAS!" her fists were clenched.
Owlet: "Fine. Hairy jellybeans with FEET."
Li: "They're aren't hairy jellybeans with FEET either!"
She says, hugging her yellow Chia, Allison, tightly.
Owlet: "I thought they had feet."
Val: "Guys, guys, break it up!" I said, as the two stood
up, their fists clenched. The two slowly sat down, still glaring at each
other.
Spork: "…Now, the lovesick Lupes, they make good French
fries…"
I slapped my hand to my forehead.
Val: "I think we have gone off the subject here…"
Flames_of_a_Lupe was the last person to enter the chatroom.
Well, Flames for short.
Flames: "Yes, I know Lupes DO have an instinct, but I
THINK that some Lupes have a gene defect cause most just hunt Chias for
fun and don't actually kill them, not for FOOD! It's stupid! Chias are
a NeoPet and Lupes are a NeoPet! There is no reason for Lupes stalking
around stalking Chias like monsters! It's not very smart! They just do
it for fun!!"
I smiled a little. At last, back to the scientific debate.
Dark: *sighs* Once again, a rivalry between Lupes and
Chias by me is considered healthy. Eating/hunting them, that's OK. The
Chias also have a right to fight back, just make an interesting role-play
out of it, not just a Battle where everyone just gets upset.
Owlet: "Okay. Lupes are not killers, they are hunters.
They eat what they have. Their instinct is to hunt critters. Critters
meaning Chias. Look, I guess Chias are okay. I have one, Roseberry_tea
on my other account. But Lupes still shouldn't take the blame. They are
innocent!"
Val: "I have got a feeling that this interview has become
a fighting room. Oh well, it's all the material I need!"
Everybody nodded, and one by one walked off. I sat there,
the microphone in one hand, the pen and notepad in the other. I sat on
the bench, thinking, then sighed, blew one of my ruffled-up strands of
hair.
Val: "What an interview. Bob, remind me never to do this
again."
Cameraman: "It's still on."
Val: "What???"
Cameraman: *laughs* "The camera is still on."
Val: "Well turn it off!! Turn it off turn it off turn
it off!! We can edit this part out, right?" I said, and put my hands on
the screen.
