"The Ghost Lesson" by SnowCalico
Chokre the Gelert ran quickly up the hill, carrying a picnic basket by it's handle in his mouth. On his head rode a very shaken blue Kacheek named Toyomu.
"Geez Chokre I know you're excited about this picnic, but please remember I don't have any seat belts up here!" Toyomu panted, holding on to one of the Gelert's ears for dear life.
"OOPS, sorry little fella." Chokre said, setting down the picnic basket in a serene looking spot.
Toyomu slid down Chokre's tail and opened the basket. Inside their owner had packed fresh fruits, burgers, lots of Neocola, and a block of fudge for dessert. Toyomu grabbed a pear and began to munch happily. Chokre meanwhile scouted the area for any danger, he knew no place was safe from those darn looting ghosts!
"Aw relax." Toyomu said between mouthfuls of pear. "If you worry all the time you'll never enjoy life."
"I was abandoned Toyomu." Chokre stated "Before our master saved me, I roamed the streets of the marketplace hoping someone would drop a crumb. It seemed every time I found even a single onion ring, it would be stolen by a ghost."
Toyomu decided it would be best not to argue with his friend, and just continued enjoying his snack.
After the two had finished their initial snack, they decided to play Hide and Seek. Chokre covered his eyes with his long ears while Toyomu scurried off to find a hiding place. Once Chokre finished counting he bound off to go find Toyomu. However, the moment he got a few feet away from the picnic basket, he heard an evil cackle behind him. Turning around quick as he could he watched in horror as a ghost carried their basket of goodies away.
"I KNEW it!" Cokre growled, and then started to run after the ghost, letting out a loud exuberant howl.
Toyomu peeked from his hiding place in a tree in time to see Chokre chasing after a ghost.
"Oh no, he was RIGHT!" Toyomu exclaimed, hopping from the tree and after his friend.
Chokre sat at the top of the hill overlooking the main shops. By now a very out of breath Toyomu had caught up with him.
"I lost him. I know exactly where he went though." The angry Gelert snorted, looking towards the Donation Tree. "I can't let this ghost steal what's ours. I'm not letting those evil things do this to me AGAIN!"
"Chokre... WAIT!" screamed Toyomu.
As his friend jumped down the hill, he managed to catch on to the end of his tail and hitch a bumpy ride. In no time they'd come to the tree, and Chokre was ready to snatch back the basket, however he stopped when he saw a starving Gelert the exact same seafoam green color as he was. Looking at the way the creature's ribs shown through his skin, Chokre saw himself not so long ago.
"Here, this basket is full of food." Whispered Chokre, pushing it towards the emaciated Gelert.
"Thank you so much!" It cried. "I've been wandering this place for so many days since I was abandoned. I was so afraid I was going to perish."
"After you finish, I'll show you where the pound is." Chokre smiled. "You will be taken good care of there, until a kinder owner takes you into their heart!"
That night as Chokre lay beside the fireplace, Toyomu lying against him, he began to rethink about his view on the ghosts.
"You know Toyomu... I suppose the ghosts aren't all bad. Considering all they steal goes to help those less fortunate. They're kind of like Robby Hood."
"That's Robin Hood." Laughed Toyomu.
"Guess it just goes to show there is good in everyone." Chokre decided, before drifting off into a happy slumber.
The End.
