Because NeoPets was created in England by two English people. They are the pronounciations that have always been used for the Neopets since their birth.

How do you get a space discount card?
Go to the Virtupets Space Station (click on 'Explore', then on the Space Station), and the Discount Card door.

What is the Grundo Warehouse and where can you get the secret codes?
The Grundo Warehouse is a place to go to redeem your rare item code. You get a rare item code whenever you visit a store selling Neopets merchandise, or purchase something there. These codes can get you anything from a rare plushie to a super cool battledome item!

In the chat boards, whats the difference between Chat Mode and Normal Mode?
Normal Mode shows all the messages that have been posted on the board, which can get rather long and slow to load. Chat Mode shows you only the most recent posts so it is easier to keep track of a conversation.

For the Pet Spotlight, are you allowed to win more than once?
Strictly speaking no, as we have so many entries it wouldn't be fair to give the position repeatedly to the same person. Although, if an individual has put in a lot of effort, an exception may be made.

How do you know if your story has been published in The Neopian Times?
If your story is published, you will recieve a trophy for your cabinet. We do not email/neomail everyone who gets published as this would take forever. The best thing to do is just check each new issue. If your story, guild, adventure etc hasn't gone up within two weeks of sending it to use, chances are it will not be published. Sadly we cannot publish everything that is sent to us.

Is there a hidden place where you buy paint brushes?
Nope, I am afraid this is just another rumour, there is no secret place you can get paint brushes from. The only way you can purchase a paint brush is if a player is selling them in their shop.

I bought a concert ticket, but I forgot to go to it, what should I do?
You can either sell your ticket to someone else, or wait until that band is playing again. When the band plays again, you can go and see them using the ticket you have just bought.

Are the things the Island Mystic says true?
Considering he has been known to say some pretty crazy fortunes such as 'you will be trampled by a herd of wild Monoceri', they probably aren't all that reliable :)
