How I Helped Destroy Neopia: Part Eleven

by hippiesoul

Untitled Document "What is it, Frank? Did something go wrong with the plan?" I was seriously starting to get worried.

"No, no, silly," He let out a giggle, "It's… about… something else."

"Something else? What, Frank? What happened?" I was still very confused. Why would Sloth come to my room in the middle of the night to tell me something if it wasn't related to the plan? What could be the reason of his insomnia?

     "It's Venera," he said, blushing.

"Venera?" I wasn't getting the obvious.

Sloth blushed a bit more and looked at the snow white carpet that covered the room's floor.

"Don't you think she's so… pretty, clever, evil, wonderful…?" he said still staring at the carpet. Then he lifted his head and looked at me, "I think I'm in love with her…"

A huge wide smile settled in my face when I heard those words coming out of my friend's mouth.

     "Frank, that's wonderful!"

"You think that having a million butterflies in your stomach every time you see her and not being able to sleep because you can only think about her is wonderful?" Sloth raised an eyebrow but smiled, "Yes, I think it's wonderful too, I'm just happy all the time now!"

Sloth was really in love. He spent thirty minutes in my room talking about how beautiful Venera's eyes were!

"Do you think I should tell her, Dalí?"

"Most definitely, Frank. If you are that in love with her it would be a shame not to tell her. Who knows, maybe she likes you too!"

"Yeah…" Sloth said, thoughtful, but grinning, "Maybe she does…"

About an hour later, Sloth left my room thanking me for the listening to him and encouraging him to tell Venera about his love for her.

"It's so late… I better get some sleep now," I thought, closing the door.

But just as I was about to lay in bed and rest, someone knocked on my door - Again. I opened it and it was Venera!

"Venera, what's wrong? Don't tell me you can't sleep too…" I could see what was coming…

"Actually, yes. You're having insomnia, too?" she asked innocently.

"Well, kind of… Sit down, tell me what's wrong."

She sat on the couch and told me to sit next to her.

"Oh, Dalí, I so need to tell you something!"

"Go ahead, Venera. I'm all ears."

"It's Frank…" she confessed, blushing. Oh what an intense dejá-vu feeling…

     "Frank?"

"Yes… Don't you think he is so cute, so evil, so breathtaking…?" She stared at the carpet while she was saying it, but then she looked at me and sighed in a romantic way, "I think I'm in love with him…"

Once again, I smiled widely and told Venera how great it was.

"You think? Oh, Dalí, you're great," she hugged me and asked if she should declare herself to Sloth.

"Well, Venera, I think you really should. I have this feeling that he likes you too…" I winked at her and smiled and got another hug.

She stayed in my room for forty five minutes telling me how wonderful Sloth's smile was, how handsome Sloth was, how evil he was, until she left my room.

"Thanks a lot, Dalí, I don't know what I would do without you!" She thanked before leaving.

I closed the door behind her and threw myself into bed. I was so tired I fell asleep immediately, and incidentally, had dreams about Sloth and Venera telling me how much they loved each other.

The next morning I woke up to a loud bang on my door. I checked it and saw the already disguised Ghost Lupe.

"Come, Dalí, let's get breakfast, we have to work today."

"Did you need to bang on the door like that?" I said, still sleepy.

"Sorry, but I knocked for a minute or two and you didn't wake up…" he excused himself, pushing me out of the room.

"Okay, never mind that, let's go," I tried to comb my mane with my paws and went down the stairs with the Ghost Lupe to the breakfasts room.

By the corner, I saw the disguised Sloth, Venera and Maelstra along with Grargadon having breakfast. We approached them and sat too.

"So, what's for breakfast?" the Ghost Lupe asked.

"Nothing new… Just snow sandwiches, snow puffs, Chia pops… In summary, lots of snow and ice stuff that will make us all need Venera's fire balls even more…" Maelstra answered.

"Yum, Snow Peppers!" I grabbed two and swallowed them without chewing and I almost choked, "So, how's it gonna be like, today?"

"Um, we were thinking about that too. How will we take the chest with the Crown out of the iceberg?" Sloth said, chewing some snow peppers too.

"We could dig a hole through the iceberg…" Grargadon suggested.

"But how would we find the right spot to dig? And it would take ages…"

"Well, then, the only solution I see is melting the iceberg," Venera stated.

"Melting the iceberg? Not a bad idea… But then we'd have to go underwater to retrieve the chest with the Crown." It was a pity to have to destroy that beautiful island, but it was needed to have the Crown.

"That wouldn't be a problem, Dalí, I could programme the helicopter's computer to form a bubble shield around it, making us able to go underwater in it."

"It's settled, then, we'll melt the island. But how?"

Grargadon posed the question, but one of the Bruce waiters came to our table and said the breakfast's room was to close and we had to leave it. We went outside and continued the conversation near an ice sculpture of Princess Lilac.

"We could summon a huge fireball and place it right above the island and wait for it to melt." Venera said "It wouldn't take long, about an hour or so to melt the whole island."

"Perfect! How long would it take for you to summon it?"

"About ten minutes. Less if Maelstra joins her powers with mine."

We walked to the centre of the island, and Maelstra and Venera hid behind some trees and concentrated to summon the fireball. Meanwhile, Sloth and the boys were breaking some ice statues, and I was sitting on the snow, listening to my mini radio.

I drew little shapes on the snow and was just there minding my own business when the music stopped and the radio voice said, "We interrupt this program to announce terrible news."

I called my buddies and we all sat around the radio listening to it, in pure delight.

"Following the Faerie Queen's kidnapping and the Hidden Tower robbery, the attacks to Neopia continued this morning with the devastation of the Healing Springs," The radio voice continued, "Just a few moments ago a group of beasts invaded Faerieland and, after defeating Nereide in a fight, destroyed the Healing Springs using powerful Hidden Tower items. Currently the faeries are trying to stop the menace, but they appear to be under some sort of invisibility spell, which makes it a lot harder. A few moments before the Healing Springs were destroyed, the Wheel of Excitement had been burnt down, too, presumably by the same offenders."

"Ah! They did it! The attack to Faerieland was completed and successful!" Sloth jumped with joy and ran to Venera and Maelstra, carrying the radio, "Listen to this! The Army destroyed the Healing Springs and the Wheel of Excitement!"

The news gave extra strength to the faeries, and the fire ball was summoned sooner than expected. It was huge, and extremely hot. It was almost like a mini sun right above us. Venera rushed us all to the helicopter and away from the island.

From the sky, it was a spectacular view. Wicked, but still amazing. Sloth turned on the TV on the helicopter and we watched, for the following two hours, the devastation going through Neopia. The Fruit Machine, the Tombola, the Giant Omelette… All that was crushed. We also watched the horror taking over people in Lilac Island when they realised the island was melting. Boats and flying machines hurried out of the iceberg, carrying scared owners and pets to the safety of Terror Mountain. After two hours, there was nothing left were Lilac Island had been. I did feel a bit sorry, but then I remembered how the Crown was now so close to us, and joy took control of my heart and soul.

The helicopter was morphed into a kind of submarine, and we dived deep in the ocean, to search for the chest. It was really easy to spot because the magic protecting it was making it glow. We grabbed it and took it inside the submarine.

"I can't believe we finally have it!" Sloth shouted with excitement, "Come on, open it up! Break the spells!"

Maelstra quickly broke the simple old spell protecting the chest and Grargadon opened it with a strong punch. Inside, there was the Crown of Ultimate Power. Shiny and beautiful. Powerful. Wickedly powerful.

Sloth took it and admired it in his hands for a few moments, astonished with it. He then put it on his head and declared, "This is the greatest moment in Neopian History. From now on, things will change. I declare myself the all powerful Emperor of Neopia!"

We all cheered and grinned, but Sloth didn't seem to notice it, he just gazed into Venera's eyes and asked in a soft voice, holding her hand, "Will you be my Empress, Venera?"

She looked at him sweetly, and answered not with words, but with a passionate kiss on the lips.

Sloth and Venera had found love, as well as power. I was happy of course, the plan had been successful and my friends were happy, so why shouldn't I be? But there was this strange feeling inside of me… Telling me something was gonna go wrong….
