King Skarl - Good or Evil?

by junglegirl2001

MERIDELL - King Skarl? Even his name sounds evil--certainly more evil than Frank Sloth. He looks pretty ugly as well. And when he says his soldiers 'retrieved' the Orb, isn't that the same as stealing it? And if the Orb provides good luck and prosperity, wouldn't that mean maybe if the Orb was stolen, the victims would mutate into evil monsters?

Since I'm practically the only person to have this opinion, I decided to go and have a little chat with King Skarl--with Kekka2001 right behind me, of course. Well, five meters away. Hey, we're just about to investigate a possible evil guy here!

Anyway, we landed in Meridell and walked straight to the castle. But before we went in, I couldn't help noticing 'Kiss the Mortog', a game where innocent Mortogs are forced to be slobbered over by anyway pet with fifty NP. Is it just me, or is that a bit suspicious?

And what about he other games: 'Tower of Turnips', a game where turnips fall on your beloved pet? Or 'Pick Your Own', a game where it is impossible to earn money? And Potato counter, which is just boring and pointless?

Back to the castle. We stepped through the door, and I couldn't help remembering Count von Roo, who also lives in a castle... Inside the castle, there's 'Double or Nothing', where Snarg (more evil names!) takes all your money, 'Meriball', which is just annoying (those Symols! So cute, but evil!), Meristones (that Draik is freaky), 'Grumpy Old King' (again, grumpy could be a cover for his true evil mind), and finally... a pace where soon, you will be able to join in the battle.

But will you be able to join the dark side? And if so, does that mean Meridell has a chance of being conquered? But no, King Skarl would never let that happen- after all, he wants to keep that Orb. Wherever it is.

After getting some 'help' from the Guards (OK, I admit it. They took us prisoner and carried us to see King Skarl), we were face to face with our target. I couldn't help noticing how mutated he was- or that might just have been how he's supposed to look.

I took out my new notebook, especially bought for this occasion (with a nice UP MERIDELL motto on the front) and took a deep breath...

ME: Mr... King Skarl, would you care to answer some questions?

KS: Not really, but who cares. Just so long as you don't ask any questions about the Orb.

ME: What Orb?

KS: The Orb I st--retrieved from foreign lands, of course.

ME: Which foreign lands?

KS: Um... pass.

ME: This isn't a quiz show- and how do you know about Neopian stuff anyway? I thought you'd never been out of Meridell?

KS: I haven't... we have our own quiz show here called... Meridell... questions.

ME: Oh. Can I play?

KS: No, because... only I can play because I'm king. Now please go away.

ME: Okay. One more question--are you an evil mastermind planning to take over Neopia?

KS: No.

ME: That's all right then. Bye!

Well, there you are. Perfectly innocent or what? I'd say what, but that's just me. So when the war comes, I'm going to think twice, maybe even thrice about joining the so-called 'Good' side...

Thanks for reading! Feel free to Neomail me, or just wait until I'm on the chat boards trying to get people to laugh. Bye!
