The Clan of Ligmoore: Part Seven

by amerock201

Helabora

We were back in Bong's home sitting like we had done the night before when Bong had brought us back from the Lenny Library. The pile of newly purchased weapons lay scattered in the middle of the room. ReelBigKougraFish ran round in circles trying to catch his tail in a fit of hyperactivity; while the rest of us sat discussing what to do next. Bong's new amulet hung from around her neck, it swung on it's silver chain like a pendulum, and Kathlon sat on one of her chairs watching it, mesmerised. Taba, as always was sat huddled in my arms fast asleep, I stroked his little paw with my thumb and listened while Bong recited from one of her many volumes concerning the Clan of Ligmoore. Brain_stew lounged in a chair refusing to let ReelBigKougraFish's activities wear him down, though to me it looked as thought they had already done so.

"I still don't see why Coltzan would give you this book when it has no immediate purpose," thought Bong as she leafed her way through a book. "It doesn't make any sense, why give us this reference when it has no relevance to what we are doing now? It brings us no closer to finding Zutore, and it seems all a little to vague to me."

"It seems vague to you?" asked Brain_stew, "I'm struggling to keep up with this whole concept!"

"I still don't get where this sword comes into it," I said drawing it from its sheath, just as I held the shimmering sword in front of my face something ran through me, knocking me back against my chair, I couldn't see the comfortable lounge of Bongs house either, instead, all around me was pitch black and there was a slight chill on the breeze. Sat up against a large tree was Zutore, he looked weak and afraid and acted as though I wasn't there, maybe he couldn't see me. I tried to run forward to him but I didn't move. I tried calling out his name but no sound came out of my mouth.

His eyes were dark and he was as thin as a rake. I tried again to reach out to him but still nothing happened. Suddenly his head snapped to face me, his eyes blank and lifeless. The trees around him began to drift away and soon Zutore was alone surrounded by darkness.

"Zutore!" I cried, my voice sounded distant and it echoed like the whole moment was being played in slow motion. Zutore began to drift and fade from sight with his paw stretched out towards me and a look of sheer terror in his eyes.

The scene around me vanished in a blinding flash and in front of me now I saw the very edge of the Haunted Woods, about three meters away was a very old grave that looked as though it had been there for hundreds of years. The sky about me darkened and lightning leaped from the clouds and danced its way to the ground, striking the earth with a tremendous force. A flash of lightning came again and struck the grave, I turned away from the intense light, averting my eyes. Once the light had disappeared I looked back towards the grave and in front of me stood a tall, snarling figure. Its head was hidden in the darkness, but its glowing red eyes pierced the darkness and looked evilly at me. I knew then, for some reason I just knew, that the figure that stood before me was Helabora himself. He looked oddly like a Werelupe, but he was taller and had bigger arms. As quickly as he had appeared, Helabora lunged to the side and tore off through the trees.

My mind flashed again and I found myself soaring cross Neopia, close to the ground. I raced over the grassy land, Terror Mountain towered in the distance and after watching the ground rush past underneath me, I soon soared up and over the first rocky peak and dived back down into the sea of mountains. I didn't slow as I flew into the mountains; instead I flew into the heart of the tallest one and sped down the entrance to a cave that lead in from halfway up its side, the cave opened up into a large hall with lakes of lava and little winding paths of stone. I halted and hovered in mid-air and looked down at a large green jewel they was suspended high on a platform surrounded by a river of lava. It looked like the Jewel Of Ligmoore, which Bong had described to me earlier. I drifted closer toward the jewel and looked closely at it, the centre seemed to swirl and pulsate. As I looked closer I began to see shapes in the mist, I squinted my eyes hard and could make out the face of an Eyrie, It was Zutore, he was inside the jewel. I tried to grab it but just as my fingertips touched its cold surface the whole scene flashed again and I was back in Bong lounge with the faces of my friends looking fretfully down at me.

"What happened?" Cried Brain_stew worriedly; I gazed about me checking that I wasn't going to appear somewhere else in a few seconds. I looked down at the sword that was still clutched firmly in my hand; the small jewels that decorated the handle and the blade seemed to glow slightly.

     "I…I saw things…" I stuttered, a little confused.

"What did you see?" Asked Kathlon. My mind raced and I realised that I knew where Zutore was, he was inside the jewel of Ligmoore. And Helabora was on his way to destroy it.

"Zutore," I managed to say, then I realised what this entailed and that we had to get to Zutore before Helabora did. "We need to go now, I know where Zutore is and if we don't get there soon…"

"Amerock!" Said Bong, "What did you see?" I managed to shake myself into focus and I explained to them what I saw.

"I saw Zutore, he's inside the Jewel of Ligmoore," I started. "And I saw Helabora."

"But isn't Helabora dead?" asked Brain_stew, "The Grand Master killed him didn't he?"

"Well, I think we were all under that impression," I said, "but it seems from what I saw that he's alive and pretty angry. He's going to destroy the Jewel of Ligmoore, he's going to destroy Zutore."

"But for a member of the clan to be held in the jewel they have to…" She paused not wanting to continue although she knew she had to. "They have to of died…" her voice trailed off and she looked down at the floor. I stopped short, I hadn't realised before then, Zutore…had died…I had left him out there to die. My eyes felt as though they would bleed as they swelled with tears.

"Oh my gosh," said Brain_stew quietly, "There's got to be some mistake, there's got to be some other reason for what's happening." No one said anything as Brain_stew searched his head for some excuse for what was happening. But there was no excuse, I had left Zutore alone out in Neopia, I had left him to die. That was what was happening and no matter how hard Brain_Stew tried to find an alternative there would be no way to make it seem better. Even ReelBigKougraFish, who never got unhappy, was staring in disbelief at Brain_stew. We sat together a strange silence fell upon us; Taba buried his head in my shoulder and wept, as did I. Kathlon stood stunned, not wanting to believe that his brother was dead.

_Thean_'s head rose as he contemplated the whole situation, Zutore was not dead, he was still alive, in the Jewel Of Ligmoore, he had been taken and kept safe in the jewel, and as long as there was someone still around to release the Clan then there was still hope. We could bring them all back, the whole clan, we just needed a chance, and we weren't about to turn one down.

_Thean_ looked at his silent companions, his eyes were bright with hope as he prepared to explain how there was still hope in this heartbreaking situation.

"Zutore's still alive," he said confidently, we all looked at him in uncertainty. It was the first time that _Thean_ had spoken to all of us, sure he had spoken to Kathlon about his talent, but never in front of all of us, but this was something worth listening to, if _Thean_ could offer some light of this situation, I was more that happy to listen to whatever he had to say. We had no other hope. "He's not dead, he's just inside the Jewel, he's being held there until someone comes to release him." Brain_stew looked at me with a glint of hope in his eyes now. "We have to act now, if Helabora really is going to destroy the Jewel Of Ligmoore then we have to go now and get there before he does." Looks of optimism and serenity were passed around the room. "Amerock, you said you saw where the Jewel was?"

"Yes," I replied, "it's in Terror Mountain, in a cave."

"Are we going to Terror Mountain?" ReelBigKougraFish quietly asked Brain_stew.

"It looks like it," replied Brain_stew with a smile.

I gazed at _Thean_, my tears gone. "Let's get Zutore back," I said, "for good."

To be continued...

Please feel free to Neomail me; I like to hear what people like you think of my work. I am on almost every day and I am on my summer vacation so I should have more time to come on to Neopets. Bong (the_lil_bong) doesn't come on as much as I do but I'm sure she would like to hear from you. Brain_stew (Brain_stew_22) on the other hand, has a very busy lifestyle and hardly ever has time to come on, you might not want to send him quite so many as he doesn't have time to reply to you. Well I hope you will keep reading to find out what happens next…
