Meriball - Game of Champions by arandawingsiong | |
MERIDELL - Saturday, September 14, 2002, boring day, actually it was Techo
Day. I was surfing around Neopets, playing games and all that. I went to the
chat boards hoping for info about unreleased stuff. Some users were talking
about a new Meridell game. So I started asking around. All I knew at the moment
was that its name was "Meriball".
Obviously, it must be somehow connected to Meridell. My first URL guess was
my last one, because I got it right! I tried this.
Oh wow! this is so cool. Maybe it's a baseball game! I could play batter and
run to the bases, or probably I get to catch the shots or I might even get to
choose my position. I just had to try this new game!
Main Idea
It isn't really like what I expected at all, but hey, it beats playing pyramids.
You're Lisha the Aisha and you are to serve the ball against the wall. Your
opponent hits the ball, then you, and then he, this pattern goes over and over.
If your opponent misses the ball you are going to get a point. When you get
the five points, you will move up to another level. The challengers become more
and more experienced.
There are items that you could use to give yourself more advantage against
your opponent. Of course, it is not at all that easy. This cute little brown
Symol will appear from the ground and will trip you. It takes a while before
you could get up, so while you are admiring the great job the gardener has done,
the ball would be way out of your reach.
Instruction
Take on the role of Lisha the Aisha in a game of a Meriball. Use the spacebar
to serve and to swing your bat, and the arrow keys to move. If you can beat
the first challenger, you will go on to face the harder opponents.
Be careful not to trip over the moles that pop up from the ground, and look
out for the power ups that give different abilities... a faster ball, a slower
ball, a ball that doubles up your size, and one that makes your opponent tiny.
Challengers
Your first challenger is Boris the Blumaroo, he is really easy. He likes
to stay all the way at the back. He is careless, clumsy and very easy to beat.
After beating challenger #1, you would have to face Morris the Quiggle. His
skill level is a bit higher than Boris. Then Kaelyn the Zafara comes next. She
is quite tough, if you are new to the game, you might have some trouble beating
her. Even so, no one is better than Jeran. Yes, Jeran, the Lupe who was in the
painting that Lisha found (check
the discovery of Meridell). Very talented and quick on his feet, Jeran
is your last opponent. As you may have noticed, all these characters were introduced
to us when Meridell first came.
Power ups
The pictures in the shields that appear are quite easy to translate in words.
Whenever you see a flying ball on the shield it means it does an effect on the
ball, when it is a picture of a person, it has to do something with either you
or your opponent. Below these figures, are either a 2X sign or the word SLOW.
Its obvious what they mean. There is also a picture of a bomb that causes a
giant bomb to appear, then *boom*! A list of all the current power ups is shown
below.
- A small person ----------------- makes your challenger smaller
- A big person ------------------- makes you bigger
- A person with 2x --------------- increases your speed
- A person with Slow ------------ decreases your opponents speed
- A ball with 2x ------------------ doubles the ball's speed
- A bomb ------------------------ creates a bomb
- A reverse arrow ---------------- reverse shrink effect on opponent
- Unknown ----------------------- random
Well, that's about all I found out about this new game. You can't earn Neopoints
at the moment, but you could at least try it. |
