The Chaos Faerie

by averyangryshaylir

Myyth muttered darkly to himself as he furiously stalked around the secret lair he had created beneath his NeoHome. The Eyrie’s black, flame-licked feathers rustled irritably as he glowered. Green eyes flickering slightly he took flight and hovered directly over his partner in crime, Shaeylan. She was a genius Baby Blumaroo and Myyth couldn’t believe he had the luck of being her brother. The Eyrie himself was no ordinary Neopet himself, in fact, he was a power-hungry mage with a thirst for Neopia-domination.

“Don’t worry my brother, you just need to concentrate. The Mage Powers you possess are much stronger then any I’ve seen before," Shaeylan stated matter-of-factly as she tapped away at the small computer that was calculating the exact amount of magic energy Myyth contained inside him. They were performing a few experiments to test the limit of the Eyrie’s powers. From the information they’d be able to devise their plan.

“But... I want more Shaey! I want to feel the power flowing through me...I want all Neopets and their owners to bow to me at my every whim!” He demanded profoundly throwing his paws up above his head as he landed next to Shaeylan, a hungry smile on his face. His eyes were glazed over and Shaey knew instantly he was in “imagination” mode. He was picturing Neopia under his control. Grinning, the Baby Blumaroo continued to type away at the keyboard.

“Trust me Myyth, Our plan will be flawless, there will be no kinks. Completely full-proof. Just keep training with your powers and I’ll do the rest," the Baby Blumaroo said briskly as her wide eyes examined the monitor that sat in front of her. Myyth only sighed with discontent.

     He was getting impatient.

Ever since the Fire Eyrie could remember he wanted to be powerful. Even when he had first been adopted by his owner he had been the dominant one out of all her pets. He was the one to run things among the pets, he was the one who took charge. It helped that Darkwise didn’t give a dung heap about anything, and that Shaeylan was willing to do whatever he asked. Neither of them were the leader type. Darkwise the Krawk was more of loner, a bitter cynical Neopet at best. Shaeylan on the other hand was a genius, but a genius with not much to occupy her mind with so helping Myyth with his Neopia domination plans was what she liked to do most. It didn’t take him long to realise what his destiny was, and what path he would take. After pretty much taking over his own NeoHome he realised that it wasn’t enough just to be in charge of his family, he wanted more. He wanted to rule all of Neopia. There was no other motive to his actions. He didn’t want fame nor fortune or even vengeance. All he wanted was pure absolute power, and now that his childhood dream was so close to coming true he wanted it as soon as possible. And it honestly seemed as if it would happen soon. Honestly, What was stopping him?

Much more then even Myyth could fathom, he didn’t realise it yet, but he was under close surveillance by some very powerful beings in Neopia. Perhaps the most powerful.

Yawning in boredom, the Flaming Eyrie concentrated on the piece of crumpled paper that had been tossed in the waste basket earlier, instantly it burst into flames. The fire cracked and died out as the paper fell to the ground in ashes. Smirking, Myyth crossed his arms in satisfaction.

Myyth wasn’t quite sure how he’d gotten his powers in the first place, It had came to be completely natural to him. He laughed silently as he remembered the first time he used his fire magic. He was been playing with Darkwise, and the young Pirate Krawk had taken a Blue Poogle Toy from him. Enraged Myyth set the toy aflame in the Krawk’s arms. After their owner got over the initial shock of her pet actually having magic, she scolded him, telling him to get control of it and never use it in public. Myyth had listened then, but now he knew that these mage powers could certainly be to his advantage when conquering Neopia. Now he trained daily, developing this energy daily making it as strong as he possibly could.

“Has it finished scanning?” he asked Shaeylan as he snapped out of his momentary nostalgia. He clacked his beak together out of habit as he waited for a response.

“It has. Very good Myyth. The centre of your power has grown greatly since last time we checked. So far we have not reached your limit. Now that this is finished I would like to discuss the finer points of the plan I’ve recently created. Care to hear?” Shaeylan asked, a broad grin appearing on her face, as she spun around in the gray functional chair that she was sitting on to face Myyth.

“Certainly. Shall we discuss it over a Flaming Faerie Pizza?” Myyth said in reply as he shrugged off the small devices that had hooked him up to the computer that measured his magic energy.

Shaeylan nodded happily as she clicked off the computer.

Myyth felt assured that he had nothing to worry about. Everything was going as planned, and now it was time to initiate the final step to Neopia domination...

And this was the same day Myyth found himself facing the first threat to his power...

Fyora’s lavender dress billowed out from underneath her as she gracefully glided towards one of her many Hidden Tower customers. This one was a stubborn looking teenager girl with an angry looking mutant Krawk in tow. Smugly, the girl flung a large abundance of NP onto the counter.

“1,900,000 NP! Now Give me my Portable Kiln!” she demanded rudely, her green eyes had an almost evil glint to them as she pushed a wisp of sandy blonde hair out of her face.

“I see. Well I am sorry to say but we are closed at the moment for stock taking," Fyora replied in a sickeningly sweet tone. The Faerie Queen did not put up with rude customers, period. She didn’t care how much NP they had, nothing could replace good manners or politeness.

Fuming, the girl stormed out of the tower and began down the long flight of stairs that led up to the hidden store. Fyora could hear the girl’s string of curses as she stomped down the stone steps. Furious comments such as “I saved up months for that much NP!” could be heard echoing through the long stairwell. Smirking smugly the beautiful Faerie Queen took flight from her hidden tower and out of the window.

Fyora didn’t live in the Hidden Tower, contrary to popular belief, in fact she lived in a normal NeoHome that was high above Faerieland. It was furnished with elegantly made cloud-like couches, beds, and chairs that she made herself. She loved her quaint little home dearly and it was a wonderful place to have some tranquil time to herself.

Sighing as she landed on the cloud that supported her NeoHome, Fyora pulled out the slim silver key to the front door. Daintily she placed the key inside the keyhole and entered her house. The faint scent of lavender drifted throughout the NeoHome, she inhaled deeply enjoying the freshness of the air. Walking into her living room, Fyora smiled broadly at the small odd looking faerie that sat on her coach busily gazing into a strange magic smoke.

“Well, Rhapsody, How was your day?” Fyora asked cheerfully taking a seat next to the faerie who was garbed in a long strikingly violet hooded cloak.

“I’m sorry Fyora, One Moment. This is important," Rhapsody, the Chaos Faerie, told Fyora quietly never letting her eyes drift from the seemingly transparent fog. Only the Chaos faerie could see things in it, not even Fyora herself could.

The Faerie Queen merely nodded in reply.

Not many people knew about Rhapsody for many reasons really. First of all, when she was born, her parents despised her. They had just wanted a normal Fire Faerie Daughter, like they themselves had been. They figured their daughter to be powerless and they left her abandoned in the middle of Faerieland. Her parents had no idea about the great chaos power she held. Upset and degraded Rhapsody had wandered about Faerieland fending for herself until one day Fyora stumbled upon her by complete accident. The Faerie Queen had sensed Rhapsody’s power and had gone around looking for it’s source. After she discovered Rhapsody the young Chaos Faerie had told Fyora about being abandoned by her own parents. The Faerie Queen instantly proposed that Rhapsody stay with her as long as she wished and that Fyora would find out exactly what kind of Faerie she was!

So they did just that. Fyora eventually found out that Rhapsody could actually control the amount of chaos and order that went on in Neopia. Ever since that fateful day of discovering what she was Rhapsody kept a watchful eye over Neopia making sure that there was always the correct balance of chaos and order. Rhapsody had asked Fyora if she would keep her existence secret. The young chaos faerie was just too afraid of other people’s judgement and didn’t want to know what others thought about her “type”.

Suddenly the fog that Rhapsody had been gazing into disappeared completely and the chaos faeries silver eyes flickered with surprise.

“It’s... it’s Myythonix!” the faerie cried out suddenly, pushing a piece of spiky dark blue hair behind her ear.

“I thought you turned him into an Eyrie and found him a good home so he wouldn’t cause any more trouble?” Fyora asked, blinking in confusion. Myythonix had been one of the few male faeries in existence and he had wanted to take over Neopia for the longest time, finally, Rhapsody had come along and turned him into an Eyrie along with wiping out his memory.

“His owner calls him Myyth now, and he doesn’t remember who he is, but he still has Neopia domination tendencies... oh, Merf! I have to send somebody to keep an eye on him...” Rhapsody stood up, looking around frantically not knowing what to do.

“Why don’t you go? It’s not as if anything too chaotic has been happening lately. Besides, you’re the only one who could inconspicuously keep an eye on him. You could change yourself into a Neopet and get their owner to adopt you... that way you could be a part of their family. I think it would be good for you," Fyora told Rhapsody, as she took a seat next to the bemused Chaos Faerie.

It wasn’t that Rhapsody didn’t want to be the one to watch out for Myyth but...

Being a part of a family? What if they rejected her, like her real parents? She wasn’t so sure she could take any more failures... plus she would have to get close to them, and that would be dangerous to her emotions. Rhapsody’s mind was going in circles... she didn’t know what to do... she finally she spoke.

“I suppose I am the only one to do it, aren’t I?” she said as she paced back in forth. “I’d better leave now...I’m going to have to make myself a part of their family as soon as possible...who knows what that wretched Eyrie is up to as we speak," Rhapsody said as she shook her head briskly. Fyora chuckled.

“Good Luck, Rhapsody my friend. I'll hold down fort until you return," the Faerie Queen told her close friend.

“It may be a long while Fyora, but I'll do my best," was the Faerie of Chaos’ reply as she trotted briskly into her room to get supplies.

She was going to need them.

Shaylir, the owner of Myyth and Shaeylan, was on her way home from the Magic Shop when she heard a loud crashing in a bunch of nearby shrubs. Nervously, the young elfin woman pushed apart the branches of the bushes to find a Faerie Kau daintily brushing herself off with her hooves.

“Greetings, young one," Shaylir said as she leaned into the bush to get a closer look at the Kau. “What are you doing by yourself here?”

The Kau, who happened to be Rhapsody the Chaos Faerie, thought fast. She had to think of some reason to have been abandoned in the middle of the woods... putting on a teary eyed look, Rhapsody looked up at Shaylir.

“My old owner - he said I was weak and girly... and that I didn’t deserve to have an owner so he didn’t even take me to the pound, he left me here," Rhapsody told Shaylir, with a long sigh. Good enough of an excuse, I suppose. I hope she buys it, she thought to herself.

“That’s terrible! Well, I suppose, You could stay with us. I have room for one more pet... but I must warn you, the other pets I own are, well, different. What’s your name?” The young woman asked, helping the Kau out of the bushes.

“Forgotten Rhapsody, but you can just call me Rhapsody, and you‘ll find I am not quite ordinary either," the Chaos Faerie said, her face immediately brightening, she broke into a slight grin.

“Well, Come on then Rhapsody, I'll bring you home and introduce you to the family!” Shaylir said with a slight chuckle as she patted Rhapsody on the head.

Rhapsody was finally a part of her own family.
