Shock-a-lots: A Random Disease or the Newest Battledome Advantage?

by junginger

BATTLEDOME - As we all know, the sickness Shock-a-lots is a disease that charges your pet's fur up with static electricity and anyone who touches him or her will be electrified with the electric sparks coming off of your pet. It does not make your NeoPet feel sick but is more dangerous to the people living with it. Many think that it is something very bad and will require immediate treatment. But what if it is a good thing? In the case of my Eyrie Graewing, sickness and disease may have its uses...

It was a very sunny day and peace was at 68379 Breadstreet, Neopia Central. Zaraion, my Scorchio and Talon, Graewing's petpet Horus was playing a game of cards. Paenion, my Pteri was snoozing on the sofa, and the petpet Zare the Airax was perching on Frilly the Frillabon's bowl. Graewing was at Krawk Island at Captain Threeleg's Academy and was training hard for his upcoming fight with Harry the Mutant Moehog, for he was only level four as you can see.

I was currently reading the latest edition of The Neopian Times when suddenly Graewing burst in without knocking. I rushed to stroke him for I was happy he was back home but felt a sudden surge of electricity that nearly burned my hair. "Graewing!" I exclaimed, "You're sick! That's Shock-a-lots!" "I know! And this is the lousiest time to be sick! My fight with Harry is today!" Sparks of static started to fly as he started pacing back and forth. Of course if you know my Eyrie as well as I do, you will know that he won't be withdrawing on any fights later soon. But I bothered to ask anyway: "Maybe you should withdraw this fight so you could recover your health?" I asked uncertainly. "I won't! I don't want anyone thinking that I am a coward by withdrawing from a fight on the last minute! Besides, I am just fine! I don't feel anything that hurts! And my fight is at 4:00 pm!" Just the answer I was expecting! "Well you better hurry, it's 3 o'clock already and that only leaves you an hour to get there!" blurted in Zaraion. Graewing darted past me and headed towards the road out of sight. "Why did you have to do that?" I scolded Zaraion, then I signaled to Talon, Graewing's Horus to come with me.

We arrived at the middle of the fight and Graewing was shooting a blast of fire from his Fire Mask, but the Mutant Harry was able to avoid it and jumped and attacked Graewing who got ready to avoid the blow. Harry started charging with his sharp tusks at him, but Graewing just pulled back in time and only received a scratch on his ear. Harry, on the other hand got a full blast of electricity, for during the attack his head brushed Graewing's mane. He stampeded of shock and lost ten hitpoints from the static. All of this happened so fast that I didn't realise that it was the Shock-a-lots doing. Graewing, seeing this, obviously gave him new hope and started to fiercely attack the Pant Devil with Talon darting after him.

The fight finally ended and Graewing lost, but was able to reduce Harry the Mutant Moehog's Hitpoints to ten (Thanks to the Shock-a-lots). Even though he lost, Graewing still wore a tired grin on his face, "I was good wasn't I?" he said happily. While we walked home we also visited the hospital (Where Graewing was rather reluctant to go) and bought a pair of Special Rubber Gloves from the Pharmacy that the doctor prescribed. We went home and Graewing started to tell his exciting fight to Paenion and Zaraion who, although amazed, would not stand five feet of Graewing in fear of getting electrified. The day ended and everybody was sleeping when I told Graewing: "Well, I better start treating your sickness and rub out all that static. Or you won't be able to touch another person again!"

"I know," replied Graewing with a hint of sadness in his voice. "But I wonder what other illness can be used in the Battledome?"
