What Luck! by chewing_dung | |
IN THE CLOUDS - Today, we will talk about luck. Ever wondered why you've not
been winning anything at the Fruit Machine for the last three hundred and fifty-six
times you've been there? Or why you never get any random events except those
involving you losing Neopoints? One word: Luck.
There's the wheel of Mediocrity, conveniently located in Tyrannia. The name
says it all, the prizes it gives you are really mediocre, but for 50 NP, what
can you expect? There's a 3/8 chance that you'll get Neopoints, a maximum of
1,000 and a minimum of well, 10 NP. The chances that you will get more than
100 NP are kinda low so take your pick: 10, 20 or 50 NP. I frequently land on
the 20 NP lot and I'm like: "Wow! 20 NP! Cool!" Then there's a chance that you'll
get hurt, 1 in 8, which isn't a lot, but for some strange reason, I seem to
land on these lots a lot. Then there are the good ole items: pick from Trannian
Furniture, Petpet and Food.
Let's move to Faerieland, where the Wheel of Excitement and The Healing Springs
are Located. The Wheel of Excitement, cost's twice as much as the Wheel of Mediocrity,
but the prizes are a lot better. The Neopoints you can get ranges from 1 to
10,000 NP, which is quite good. So far I have only landed on the 10,000 NP slot
thrice. The lava ghoul and pant devil seem to like to prowl around the Wheel,
occasionally hurting your pet and stealing their items. I don't really like
the idea of paying to get hurt… Sometimes you might get a rare item or be healed
by the Light Faerie, which is not bad actually.
The Healing Springs, where you go (obviously) to get your pet healed, The
Water Faerie runs the springs, she might heal you pet of 3-15 hit points, heal
it completely, feeding it in the process, or give you a potion. That's about
all, if you pet has been seriously injured in a scuffle with another pet or
the snowager, 'tis a good place to visit!
Next, we get whisked away to Terror Mountain. First up, the Snowager's Lair,
this worm sleeps for about two hours a day, and when it does, you slip in and
try to steal an item. There are consequences: You get the item and run away
safely. The snowager moves a little and you decide to run. He wakes up and blast
your pet all the way down to one hp. Not a nice thought. There are three basic
types of items you get from the snowager: Neggs, keychains and weapons. Of course,
I rather the neggs bit 'cause the weapons are mainly rainbow guns and such.
The kiosk, located conveniently near the Snowager's lair. This is a place
for big disappointment or big Neopoints. I once got 50,000 NP from it! Imagine
my joy at that time. So here's the deal: Buy a scratchcard (which price they
had recently lowered from 750 NP to 600 NP) and scratch off six circles, if three
chance to match, you get whatever is shown, or walk away 600 NP poorer. You can
win a worthless 'limited-edition' qiuggle toy or three snowballs, or maybe a
level up for your pets, or a negg. Or you could be really lucky and win Neopoints
ranging from 2,500 NP to 50,000 NP o you could be extremely lucky and win the
Jackpot (only possible with an Icestravangaza Scratchcard) which can fetch up
to hundreds of thousands of Neopoints (and no, I am not exaggerating).
The Lost Desert, the home of Coltzan's Shrine. Not much actually, this obelisk,
you can visit it daily and get a stats increase or some lost desert food, Neopoints
or nothing at all. Beware though, high stats pets are likely to get nothing
out of this stone structure.
The Fruit Machine is located at the other end of the desert. Here you pay
nothing and, if you are lucky, get wonderful prizes. If the first two fruits
shown match, you get that fruit and some Neopoints. If all the fruits match,
depending on what kind of fruit, you can get a battle muffin, a petpet, a paintbrush
and some other stuff. I happened to be once so lucky that I got a Faerie Paintbrush
from it!
Last but not least, Random Events. These events can happen at anytime, and
you can get absolutely anything from it! For example, you might have an accidental
rendezvous with Jack the Phantom Painter and get a free Paintbrush (the best
which I got from him was a Rainbow Paintbrush)! Or maybe you could find a smoothie
on the floor, and so on… If you chance upon a paintbrush, or become an millionaire
overnight, or be blessed with a few Neopoints, you could be sure you got it
by the 'Luck' generators all over Neopia! |
