THE NEOPIAN HOSPITAL - Food. Toys. Furniture. Clothing. We all know how difficult
and expensive it can be to take care of your NeoPet. It is a responsibility
not entirely unlike having a child. They get hungry and need food, they get
sad and need to be played with, and they get sick and need medicine. But how
do you think you would feel if your Pet suddenly became sick with a disease
that you couldn't cure him/her of simply because you couldn't afford the medicine.
How unfair to you. How unfair to your Pet. In this special article I will explore
the world of the many Neopian diseases, their cures, and the ridiculous prices
that these medical phenomenon fetch on the Wiz.
There is a total of 32 Neopian illnesses that your Pet can contract
at any time and in any place during the game. Today we will be looking at 5
of these diseases.
o Disease: NeoPox
o Cure: NeoPox Pizza
o Wiz Price: 60 NP
This common illness will cause your Pet to break out in itchy red blotches.
I remember when this particular cure cost 10 or 20 NP to purchase. As you can
see, the few cures that are not ridiculously overpriced (or unbuyable) are rapidly
becoming more and more expensive all the time.
o Disease: Bloaty Belly
o Cure: Flat-U-Less Tablets
o Wiz Price: 749 NP
If you overfeed your poor NeoPet, he/she could get a Bloaty Belly, the Neopian
equivalent to indigestion. Your Pet will refuse to eat and will complain of
stomach pain.
o Disease: Reptillioritus
o Cure: Cactopus Cream
o Wiz Price: 1,933 NP
Caused by the bite by a venomous Reptillior. I suggest you watch out for these
poisonous Petpets before you are forced to spend nearly 2,000 NP on a cure for
this nasty sickness.
o Disease: Cricky Neck
o Cure: Neck Brace
o Wiz Price: 11,999 NP
It seems your NeoPet has injured its neck and now you must pay almost 12,000
NP to heal it. My Bruce had a Cricky Neck about two months ago. I had to take
out my entire bank savings to cure him. Where is the fairness in that? So much
money to keep your Pets healthy?
o Disease: Ugga-Ugga
o Cure: Sporkle Syrup
o Wiz Price: 99,999 NP
Last but not least we have the dreaded Ugga-Ugga, the worst Tyrannian disease
of them all. Your Pet's throat becomes sore and they can barely speak without
rasping. My Aisha has Ugga-Ugga as we speak. She's had the aweful sickness for
nearly a month now, and I can't cure her because I'm a middle-waged Neopian
who can't afford to. So until by some strange miracle I find a way to purchase
Sporkle Syrup for my Pet, she must suffer. All of our Pets must suffer.
So what do you do if your NeoPet's cure is unbuyable? Well the good news about
Neopian diseases is that NeoPets cannot die (or at least it is my experience
that they cannot die). What happens to them when they do become sick is that
they lose some or all of their hitpoints and they look really terrible until
they are cured. Even so, it is a heartbreaking thing to have to watch your NeoPet
suffer from something as terrible as a Cricky Neck or Ugga-Ugga with no cure
to lift their spirits.
If you want to cure your NeoPet and you cannot afford the medicine, there are
still a few options open to you. The first is to join a guild that gives free
medical assistance to its members, though I do not endorse the joining of guilds
to gain items of any sort, and the second is to hang around the chat boards
with a 'Wishlist:' tag attached to your posts. Maybe, if you get extremely lucky,
someone will see your wishlist and give you the item that you need. But probably
not.
Until then, make your Pet comfortable, spoil them with lots of new toys to
keep them happy, and remember to always tell them how much you love them...
