Meekie, a Meekins, looked up at the sky, counting the clouds.
"Coming through!" cried a little Floud, floating above Meekie.
"PINKY! You're blocking my clouds!" cried Meekie in her high squeaky voice.
Pinky laughed and floated off. Crossing her little arms, Meekie pouted. "One
of these days I'll put a carrot in your food."
"Sure!" cried Pinky back at Meekie.
"You two behave!" cried Yuna (Meekie's owner) and Spriet (Pinky's owner) from
their places at the picnic table.
Turning at her sister, Spudd, Yuna sighed. "You are so lucky to have a well
behaved PetPet."
Spudd grinned happily and petted her little Anubis that sat on the bench by
her side. "I know I am. Annie is the best Anubis that lived."
"Or that was under your care," contradicted Spriet. Spudd frowned. "I'll put
a sock in your mouth someday." Spriet gagged. She hated socks, even if she had
to wear pantyhose with her shoes.
"Well, if Spudd does that, you'll just ruin her books," said Yuna to Spriet.
Spudd gasped. The three sisters started laughing happily.
Bored to death, Annie jumped off the bench and went over to Meekie.
"Boring day?" she asked.
Meekie nodded. Suddenly, a smile emerged from her face. She stood up and whispered
into Annie's air.
Far off in the sky, Pinky spotted Meekie whispering to Annie. She pouted.
"No one gets away with a secret without having Pinky the Floud know about it!"
she cried, diving straight towards the Anubis and Meekins.
"AUGGHH!" cried Meekie and Annie in unison as Pinky flew into them. Laughing
all over, Pinky rolled over the grass, rubbing her pink belly.
"You should've saw the looks on your faces when I hit you!" she cried happily.
Meekie and Annie frowned. Getting up, Pinky rose in the sky again. "Sorry,
but I just wanted to know the secret." Meekie and Annie smiled.
Annie pointed to the forest a few yards away from the picnic area. "We are
planning to explore THE NIGHTMARE FOREST *DUN DUN DUN*"
Pinky gasped, but then smiled. "Cool! We'll be like the first PetPets to venture
into the THE NIGHTMARE FOREST *DUN DUN DUN*"
Meekie perked her ears up and looked around. "Hey, does anyone hear music?"
Annie and Pinky looked at Meekie strangely. Struggling, they both started
for THE NIGHTMARE FOREST *DUN DUN DUN*
"Hey, wait up!" cried Meekie, running after her fine comrades.
***
"EEEEK!" cried Meekie as she heard a ghostly scream. The three PetPets have
been walking in the forest for a few minutes and they were scared to their wits
already. Pinky was floating right above Annie's head, and fell on top of Annie
whenever she was frightened, which was every second.
"Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! PINKY!" Annie grabbed Pinky's tail as the little frightened
Floud fell on Annie for the one millionth time. Screaming with pain, Pinky struggled
to get free of Annie's grasp.
"You fell on my head for the last time!" cried Annie. She took Pinky's tail
in her mouth and started swinging her in circles.
"Annie, no!" cried Meekie, trying to take hold of the spinning little pink
balloon. Annie made Pinky circle one last time and let go.
"AAAANNNNNNIIEEEEEEE!" cried Pinky as she flew into the darkness of THE NIGHTMARE
FOREST *DUN DUN DUN*
"Look what you did, Annie!" cried Meekie to the grinning Anubis. "Now we have
to look for her!"
***
Pinky fell into a pile of spiky bush. Groaning, she wiggled her way out of
the bush. "Dumb Annie," she mumbled as she floated around the forest. Suddenly,
she felt a ping of fear hit her. She was in THE NIGHTMARE FOREST *DUN DUN DUN*
all by herself, maybe lost.
Whimpering, Pinky sank to the ground and cuddled up beside a tree.
POP Pinky screamed. A carrot emerged from the ground and flew in front of
her face. Then, another carrot flew and hit her soft tummy side.
Pinky screamed again, closing her eyes, she floated up and flew away as fast
as she could, as a pile of carrots flew right behind her, getting closer every
second.
"Did you hear that?" cried Meekie to Annie.
"Hear what?" asked Annie.
"A scream. It sounds like Pinky," replied Meekie.
"Oh, that silly Floud," said Annie.
"No, I am serious Annabeth (which was really Annie's real name)," said Meekie.
Annie gulped. Meekie only called her Annabeth when it was very serious.
"Where do you think the scream came from," she asked. Meekie shrugged.
"I guess we have to walk in the direction you threw Pinky in," said Meekie,
who started walking.
"Wait, I have to my shoe!" cried Annie to Meekie. "Go along, I'll catch up."
Meekie shrugged and walked along the path. Bending down, Annie stared at her
feet very hard until she finally realised her paws didn't have shoes on them.
Laughing at her stupidity, she looked up.
"Uh, Meekie, where are you?" she asked, gulping. "Meekie!" Annie dashed forward
and suddenly crashed into something very hard. Looking up, she saw it was Spudd.
"SPUDD!" cried Annie happily. But Spudd just frowned at Annie. "What's wrong?"
asked Annie to her pet owner timidly.
Spudd pointed her paw at Annie. "YOUR THE WORST PETPET A PET COULD HAVE!"
Annie gasped. Her eyes filled with tears and she turned away from Spudd's mad
face, but found out there were five other Spudd's behind her.
"AHHHHHHH!" cried Annie as the five other Spudd's pointed at her and cried,
"YOUR THE WORST PetPet A PET COULD HAVE!" Whimpering and crying, Annie turned
in another direction, only to find more angry looking Spudds, all chanting the
same thing. Covering her ears with her little paws, Annie crouched down and
screamed as the Spudds continued chanting, "YOUR THE WORST PetPet A PET COULD
HAVE!"
***
"Annie! ANNIE!" Meekie sighed and threw a rock into the deep darkness. "Good
for nothing Anubis." As she walked along the path, Meekie suddenly smelled a
wondrous odor in the air.
"Mmmmm... Pancakes, ice cream, steak...." she muttered, drooling all over
her yellow fur. She followed the odor into a clearing in the forest. There was
a huge plate of a variety of delicious morsels. Smacking her lips, Meekie dived
in, but instead of hitting the pile of food, she hit the dirt ground. Groaning,
she stood up and saw three more plates of food in front of her. "You're not
getting away this time!" cried Meekie, plunging for it again, but only hit the
dirt ground again. "What the - " Meekie blinked her eyes and rubbed them, but
the vision stayed true. At least five hundred similar looking plates stood before
her. Gulping, she walked over to one and reached her paw to grab the nearest
piece of steak. The whole plate disappeared. Whimpering, Meekie felt her stomach
growl. "It's like the saying 'water water everywhere but not a drop to drink',"
she said.
The emptiness of her stomach grew painful and Meekie started wailing and screeching
madly. "MEEKANELA (Meekie's full name) HUNGRY!!!!!!"
***
As Pinky flew as fast as she could from the rampaging carrots. Crying bitterly,
Pinky suddenly felt something hit her head. Falling down, she screamed with
pain. Opening her eyes, she saw a tree made of carrots. She screamed even louder.
Suddenly, the carrots started throwing themselves at her, aiming for her mouth.
Shutting her tiny mouth, Pinky closed her eyes. She wanted to scream so badly,
but feared an ugly disgusting carrot would throw themselves in it.
Finally, she no longer could take it. She flew up and flew right into the crowd
of carrots. Their ugly orange skin brushed by Pinky as she flew. Opening her
eyes, Pinky smiled. Free at last at the pummeling carrots, but she knew that
the carrots would be after her in a few minutes.
Looking ahead of her, she saw a group red and green dogs. "What in the world?"
Annie was crying helplessly as the Spudds crowded round her, chanting the
same thing over and over.
"Torture! Torture I TELL YOU! This has got to be a nightmare!"
"ANNIE!" Looking up, Annie saw Pinky floating above her.
"Pinky!" cried Annie joyously. Grabbing Pinky's tail, Annie hoisted herself
up on Pinky's round back.
"Hold on!" cried Pinky. "We're gonna find Meekie and then get out of this forest!"
Meekie cried in terror as more food appeared around her. She had tried more
than a thousand times to reach for some food, but they kept disappearing into
thin air.
"Meekie!" Looking up, Meekie saw her two best friends, racing towards her,
bringing a mob of angry looking Spudds and carrots with them.
"Hold on, Meekie!" cried Annie, who grabbed Meekie with her mouth.
"Hey! Watch the fur!" cried Meekie, dangling helplessly from Annie's teeth.
Annie rolled her eyes.
The three little PetPets raced throughout the forest, with plates of foods
and carrots following them and an angry pack of strawberry Gelerts racing and
howling and barking.
"LOOK! A LIGHT!" cried Meekie, pointing a head.
Pinky smiled. "Finally, we could get out of THE NIGHTMARE FOREST *DUN DUN-"
"CUT THAT OUT!" cried Meekie, irritated by the *DUN DUN DUN*'s.
As they approached closer to the light, the pack of Gelerts started fading,
and so did the plates of food and carrots.
Finally, Pink, Meekie, and Annie burst from the forest happily. Annie let go
of Meekie, who landed on the grass dancing. Jumping off Pinky's back, Annie
danced with Meekie.
Pinky boogied by herself in the air.
"C'mon, let's get back to camp," said Meekie, racing across the grass.
***
"Hey Yuna!" cried Meekie, jumping into the striped Chia's arms.
"Hey, you little fury tyke. I made you some food!" greeted Yuna. She set Meekie
on the table and opened the portable fridge. From the fridge emerged a plate
of a enormous pile of food, like the one in THE NIGHTMARE FOREST *DUN DUN DUN*
Meekie gasped. Her ears folded back. Dramatically, she placed her paw at her
forehead and fainted.
"SPRIETY!" cried Pinky happily, floating towards the purple Grundo.
Spriet turned around and smiled at Pinky. About to float into Spriet's arms,
Pinky suddenly stopped in mid-air. In Spriet's little hand was a carrot. Pinky
gasped and fell on the ground, fainted and shocked.
"What's with your pets?" asked Spudd, looking at the fainted Meekins and Floud.
Yuna and Spriet shrugged.
"Lookie, here comes your pet," said Yuna, spotting Annie.
Spudd grinned and looked at Annie, who was running happily.
"AHHHHH!!" screamed Annie as she saw Spudd's face. "NOOO!!!!" Covering her
face, Annie fell back, fainted like the two before her.
"What in Neopia...." said Spudd softly.
"What's eatin' em?" said Spriet, taking another bite of out of her carrot.
The End
The PetPets in this story are called The Three PetPeteers because there are
