There are many guilds created daily in Neopia. Many new members join the big
family, and as soon as they find out about guilds, they all ask the same question,
"Which guild is the best?"
I have been to and in many guilds. Some have been small and in the making,
while others have had many members. Many people prefer larger guilds, because
it is more "experienced." But does quantity mean quality?
I am not saying that larger guilds are bad. Some new guilds may be very disorganized,
as well. But no one can deny that guilds, both large and small, have their advantages
and disadvantages.
"Populated and rich" guilds
Advantages: These guilds have many members, hundreds, even thousands of them.
It may be famous in Neopia, and may be very stable economically. The guild leaders
are probably true veterans of Neopets and may be a know-it-all of Neopia. These
guilds tend to be updated often, and may hold contests with great prizes such
as the Wand of Ultranova. You get to meet many people!
Disadvantages: Since there are many members, it will be hard to raise your
rank up, and becoming a council member is a miracle. Your chance of winning
a contest is very low. Also, although you will meet many people, you may not
be able to know them too well. Worse yet, you may be even forgotten that you
are in the guild!
"Small and in the making" guilds
Advantages: These guilds will not have many members. Probably less than 100
members. Some of these guilds hold contests with prizes, and you have a greater
chance of winning them! Also, since there are less members, you will get to
know basically everyone, and may become close friends with some. The guild leader
will know you and will try their best to help you. Getting your rank raised
or being on the council may not become the hardest thing to do in the guild.
Disadvantage: The guild itself may be very new, with young leaders and accounts
that are less than a year old. That means that the guild may be poor and may
not offer great prizes. There is a chance that the guild will collapse within
a few weeks (and yes, I have seen this happen several times). The guild will
probably not be famous, and many people will not know about the guild.
My opinion about guilds is that first of all, find a guild that you like.
For example, joining a guild with a theme you like may be good. Then choose,
the larger guild or the smaller guild. What do you expect from guild leaders?
If you want attention, I recommend the smaller guilds. If you want to meet many
new people, larger guilds may be the one for you. I myself prefer smaller guilds,
because I get to help the guild prosper and get to make great friends. But the
final thing is, never look at quantity because it's quality that counts! |
