What is a Guild Leader's Life Really Like?

by pdrao

After reading plushieowner's article, I decided to take it a bit further and explain what a guild leader really goes through. I am a guild leader (lol)! So, I will now tell you what my usual routine is.

Step 1: I do the daily stuff. Such as Coltzan's Shrine, Tombola, and other freebies. I sometimes play games if I have time after completing all the other Steps.

Step 2: I go to my guild and see if anybody has posted any messages or any new people have joined. I reply to the messages (if any) and go on to Step 3.

Step 3: I visit the Chat Boards and advertise my guild. I also ask people to do guild makeovers for me and other guild related stuff.

Step 4: I update my guild's Web sites (if I have to). I also add or delete pages according to the members' wishes.

Step 5: I look over my guild once more, and then advertise it for the rest of my time on NeoPets.

This is my schedule for each day. Notice how many steps there are that involve my guild. Think of all the games I could be playing and all the money I could be making! Ahh… but do I do it? No! I work hard for my guild!

I have also interviewed some other guild owners. Here is what they have to say.

gohan225 says: boring, when nobody is really active, I think they're too shy. I'm like talking to myself.

_cutiee_pie_ says: well I think it is really fun to own a guild, but it can get really busy

A Neopian who will not be named says: well, TRYING to find ACTIVE members is the hardest part. I can get people to join, but getting them ACTIVE is another story. Also, too many people think that a guild will make them rich overnight, when in fact it may never make you rich at all. A guild can only help those that help themselves in my opinion. Too many people want council AND a RARE item to join, or so they post when looking, these are the kind of people who will take the items and run, again, in my opinion. SOME people wanting council don't realise it's a lot of HARD work running a guild, and I feel bad having to take them off council :( I'm new at running one, but I did it to help others and have FUN! Not make it a boot camp, but there has to be rules and some don't want rules. Uh, I think I could type tons more here but space won't let me...

I hope this has given you a good idea of what a guild leader usually does for their guild. Yours (if you are a guild leader) may be different. But this is mostly what it is like. Please remember that your guild leader does everything for your guild by her own free will. Appreciate that. Bye for now!
