"Mum! Are you sure this house is safe?" Kazzuk, a Mutant Korbat, asked. He
looked at the small, two-roomed NeoHome made of Silver. The shutters were hanging
off the sides of the windows and the gutters were laying on the ground. Around
the NeoHome, junk was piled everywhere.
"Umm... yes dear. Just think, you'll have your own room. No more crowded hotel
rooms, your own bed and everything," Sae, a tall, Gothic looking girl with
blue hair and grey eyes said.
"Well... all right. Did you hear that Tanis? You can even have your own rug
to sleep on!" Kazzuk said, addressing his Red Anubis.
Tanis looked up at his owner then growled slightly, turning his head away
from Kazzuk.
"Oh, come on Tanis! It's not that bad... right Mum?" Kazzuk looked at his
owner helplessly.
"Yeah... Tanis, don't be worried you stuck up Anubis!" Sae replied, receiving
a glare from the small petpet. Grabbing her Korbat's leg, she dragged him and
Tanis up to the broken front steps.
Kazzuk's overly large ears twitched as he picked up a creaking sound. "I don't
feel safe..." he said, shivering slightly as the threesome entered the dark
NeoHome.
Sae switched on the light for the Living Room and gasped. The room was covered
in cobwebs and dust. With no furniture, it looked very empty. She coughed loudly
as her footprints disturbed the dust.
"How come it's so dusty? Didn't they build it not too long ago Mum?" Kazzuk
flew around, causing the dust to stir and fill the air. Tanis coughed and sputtered,
hiding in one of the dark corners.
Suddenly the petpet let out a yelp as the floor under him collapsed. "Tanis!!"
Kazzuk flew over to the spot where the big hole was.
"AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!" Sae screamed as the floor under her collapsed as well, sending
her into the dark and creepy basement. "OOOF!!" she yelled as she landed with
a *thud*.
"Mum!! Are you OK? Hey what the?!?!" Kazzuk gasped in surprise as something
struck his wing, sending him into the basement as well. "Ow... that hurt...
what hit me?" He rubbed his wing, staring at the injured bone.
"Is everyone all right?" Sae asked, standing up. Tanis barked as if to say
"yes" as he padded over to the injured Kazzuk.
"Kazzuk? Oh, dear... you're hurt.." Sae picked him up, a worried look on her
face.
"Mum... look over there... something yellowish is in a corner!" Kazzuk managed
to say through his pain.
Sae cautiously approached the yellow light, Tanis following close behind.
"Hey, it's a snowball. What's a snowball doing in our basement? And why is it
glowing?" Sae set Kazzuk down and picked up the glowing, Golden Snowball.
Tanis barked loudly, growling at the snowball. "Tanis, be good. I'm sure this
snowball isn't anything spe--" Sae stopped speaking as the snowball lit up the
entire basement.
"Hello young Neopians."
"AH!" Sae dropped the snowball and backed away from it. "It... it... talked!"
"Yes, I am the Golden Snowball of The Spell Caster."
"What does that mean?" Kazzuk asked the snowball, staring at it in amazement.
"You were first a Kacheek, correct?" The snowball seemed to move slightly.
"Yes..." Kazzuk nodded, a strange expression on his pale face.
"You are the chosen one Kazzuk. You were created by an evil Spellcaster
who wanted revenge on the Neopians who banished him. And another Kacheek told
you the true purpose of life. So then your heart found the good hidden deep
within it."
"Yeah, that's exactly what happened that day. I will never forget that girl,
she opened my eyes." Kazzuk bowed his head, closing his eyes, remembering.
"I am the Golden Snowball created to keep the evil in your heart locked
away. That is why you must keep me with you always. Otherwise, the evil will
over power you once again. And you don't want to hurt anymore Neopians, correct?"
The snowball glowed more brightly after saying this.
"I never want to hurt anyone ever again..." Kazzuk's voice grew rough and
he wiped away a tear. "I will keep you with me always, so no one will ever have
to suffer under my power ever again."
"Good, then my job is done. Remember Kazzuk, many others will try to bring
you over to the dark side again." With that, the snowball stopped glowing.
Kazzuk got to his feet and reached out with his uninjured wing to touch the
snowball. As he did this, a golden light surrounded him and his injured wing
was healed.
"Kazzuk, your wing! It's completely healed!" Sae said, a smile forming on
her pale face. She hugged her NeoPet and Tanis howled with happiness.
Sae, Kazzuk and Tanis found the way out of the basement and went around to
the front of their NeoHome, Kazzuk clutching the snowball tightly.
***THREE DAYS LATER***
"So, Kazzuk are you feeling better. The floor is now completely rebuilt and
much safer," Sae said, looking at her Korbat.
"Yes, now that I know the evil in my heart will never escape again. And that
the floor is solid again!" Kazzuk smiled and chuckled.
"Well, I'm glad that's over." Sae walked into her NeoHome.
"Me too." Kazzuk smiled at Tanis and looked up at the sky.
"Kazzuk, Tanis, come on! Supper is ready!" Sae called out, motioning for them
to come inside.
"Coming Mum!" Kazzuk flew into the house after one last look at the sky, Tanis
running behind him. Sae closed the door, smiling.
