Kyrishi and Ashii were two Wockys who were the best of friends. They would
have lunch together, play with each other, and went through almost everything
with the other. Kyrishi was a very happy male Striped Wocky, and Ashii was a
female Stone Wocky. Kyrishi had a pet Angelpuss, named Mr. Sunshine.
One day, Kyrishi's owner told him that there was a Wocky Competition in Neopia
Central and that the prize was, as usual, two thousand Neopoints, a rare item,
and a trophy. Kyrishi didn't know what the competition was about but he agreed
to give it a try. Ashii signed up for the contest as well, since her best friend
was.
Then the dreadful news came: in the competition, two Wockys would have their
tails tied together and they would each run as far as they could before one
of their tails snapped. When Ashii heard this, she was very frightened and refused
to go to the competition the next day. Kyrishi was determined, however, to win,
even if it meant losing his lovely striped tail.
Early the next morning, while Kyrishi was having his NeoCrunch Cereal and
a glass of Kau Kau milk, Ashii joined him for breakfast as she always did. Making
herself at home, she got herself a Vanilla Milkshake and an Organic Banana.
"Must you really go to the competition?" she asked him worriedly. "Your tail
might snap, and you know it takes days for a Wocky tail to grow back, or even
grow back at all." Kyrishi merely gulped down his cereal and nodded. Later,
he went off to Neopia Central for the competition. An hour later, just as the
competition was about to start, Ashii trotted down to see how her best friend
was doing.
"Next up - Kyrishi and Malcolm!" announced the blue Scorchio at the desk.
He seemed to enjoy seeing a Wocky rip his opponent's tail off, or one of them
squealing in pain afterwards. Kyrishi's tail was tied to Malcolm's with a red
bow, and he waved happily at Ashii, although her face was very pale. Fifteen
minutes later, Malcolm's tail snapped, and Kyrishi won, though he too was very
tired and sore.
Two hours later, there were just two Wockys left to go. "It's the last round
of our Wocky Competition today and our competitors are Kyrishi and Hymirria!"
called that irritating Blue Scorchio, who was wearing his ugly top hat and bow
tie. Everyone cheered loudly. Ashii, who had been waiting anxiously, hardly
clapped at all.
Kyrishi marched out onto the arena, his tail tied to Hymirria with a purple
bow with pink polka dots. Everyone laughed when they saw it, but Ashii, just
as before, looked on, going a sickly shade of green.
"Bweeeet!" the Pteri chirped, and the round started. Hymirria, the glowing
Wocky, was quite a strong competitor, and leapt off quickly, determined to win.
Kyrishi bounded off and soon their tails had been stretched as far as they could
go. Beads of sweat rolled off Hymirria's forehead, but the Wocky was determined
to bring home the grand prize. He had both paws planted firmly on the ground,
and he lifted one of them to reach further, but his tail snapped and he was
sent rolling down the arena pathway.
The crowd roared with laughter, some Usuls were covering their eyes, but Ashii
was cheering, clapping, crying, and stomping all at the same time! She rushed
down to meet her best friend and they both collapsed into each other's arms.
Kyrishi accepted his trophy, with two thousand Neopoints inside, and guess what
the rare item was? It was an Angelpuss! He gave it to Ashii, and Ashii named
hers Mrs. Sunshine.
