Just an Ordinary Day by drakonelemental | |
Steel clashed on steel as Jub Jr. swung his sword around in the fiery Battledome,
trying to achieve his fifth consecutive victory... a loud clang rang out as
Jub Jr.'s sword cracked into numerous pieces, and he knew it was all over when
he saw the stream of red flame making a beeline for him
Magronan closed the book. He sighed in distress as he slumped in the chair.
He was naturally bored, and 3vil was napping among the masses of discarded Neocola
cans, feeling almost among family. His owner, Drakon, was out shopping, hoping
to sustain Magronan and his near addiction to Cherry Neocola. 3vil turned over
in his sleep, crushing one can, and tearing another. Well, one thing was for
sure. Today was just an ordinary day. Magronan picked a book off the shelf,
leafing through it. He'd read it, and didn't enjoy it much, so he put it back
as he began to pace. What was there to do? He could snack on the jelly room,
or he could go out for a walk. It was better than sitting inside, gathering
dust. He poked 3vil to wake him up, and placing him on his shoulder, he scribbled
a barely legible note to Drakon, and walked out the door happily.
It got worse. Magronan hardly made it to the park near his house when it started
raining. His Zafara tail stopped playing with 3vil and he cursed loudly. This
got him some strange looks from nearby carefree pets, but they soon scattered
feeling the cold droplets on them. Magronan, however, was unusual, and sat back,
enjoying the rain. It was like a shower. Well, minus the soap in the eyes and
the luxurious feeling of hot water. Enjoying the feeling, Magronan drowsed off.
Meanwhile…
Kauvara surveyed her magic shop. An Elephante reached up to grab a glowing
faerie from a shelf, emitting a stench horrible enough to kill a plant to the
misfortunate Chia beneath her. The Chia didn't seem to mind, however, as it
calmly scampered up the back of the Elephante to pluck the faerie away. In fact,
the Chia manoeuvred around the store, taking faeries away from the slow pets
unable to beat him to it. He also grabbed some tornados in a bottle, and some
slippery floor potions. But his main aim was faeries. Kauvara was worried whether
that Chia had enough to pay for the faeries, and her suspicions that he didn't
were confirmed soon when he threw three tornados in a bottle and a slippery
floor potion to the ground and fled. Kauvara gave a shrill cry for help, and
fell to the floor in an anti-climatic stunt.
Magronan looked around for the cause of panic, but he couldn't see it. A shrill
cry had awoken him from his nap, and Magronan didn't like that. He stood up,
dazed from the cold, and was knocked down to the cold, wet ground seconds later
by a fleeing Chia. A loud clunk was heard soon after, and Magronan looked to
his left to see the Chia face first in the mud, head right against the tree
trunk.
That's what that loud clunk was, thought Magronan as he lapsed into
unconsciousness...
When he came to, he was in a room full of Shoyrus, wearing trench coats with
magnifying glasses sticking out of the pockets messily. How cliché, thought
Magronan. They must be detectives. His thinking was interrupted soon after,
though, by one of the assumed-to-be detectives speaking.
"Congratulations, you lucky Zafara. What's your name?" inquired one of the
assumed-to-be detectives.
"Magronan," Magronan replied.
"Well then, you're extremely lucky, Magronan! You've just caught one of the
greatest criminal masterminds to date, right as he was running away from his
latest robbery at Kauvara's magic shop. If it wasn't for you standing there
dazed, he would've never tripped and fell into the mud. I suppose you'll be
happy to know, then, that Chicoree the Chia is safely tucked away in his little
niche in prison."
Magronan blinked. He had heard every word the assumed-to-be detective had said,
but he didn't quite get it all--he had caught one of the greatest criminal masterminds?
Wow.
Hours later, Magronan stumbled home amazed, holding his bottled faerie in one
hand and his blue sugar rush in the other. He had yet to fully decipher what
all had happened that day, but he was glad to see Drakon at home, pacing back
and forth worriedly. Opening the door and walking in, Magronan retold the whole
of that day's events to Drakon. Going through three Cherry Neocolas in the process,
Drakon listened with interest and suggested selling the faerie. Magronan refused,
though, as he liked it, and he needed a new night-light.
The rest of the day passed by quickly, Magronan playing games with Drakon,
and drinking more and more Cherry Neocolas, but eventually it was time to go
to bed. Magronan brushed his teeth, and as he rolled over in bed, holding the
blanket close, he realised something
There was action, adventure, and pets getting into the mix. Today was truly
an ordinary day.
