Behind the Scenes in Neopia!

by oily106

So you are relaxing in the Astro Villa and listening to the bustle of Neopia hum around you. But stop! Do you even think about who is behind that bustle? How about the pets who run the Fruit Machine; the Faeries; the shopkeepers? You see there is a lot more to NeoPets than meets the eye.

Litter?

Why is Neopia so pristine clean? Spick and span, with no litter anywhere. Yet, the last time you fed your pet Musho Mushy Peas, did you ram the tin down your pet's throat as well? (If you just answered yes, the people in white vans will be at your house shortly to take your poor pet away.) So where did the tin go? On the ground I would have thought. So some poor people somewhere are spending all day picking up and recycling the rubbish you never knew you were throwing away!

Items!

Who makes the chocolate for the Chocolate Factory? How do people happen to pick up paintbrushes and Codestones? Why is there not a Green Apple Tree in Neopia? Why do we exist? Well, I can attempt to answer the first three. Obviously there is a sweatshop somewhere hidden in Neopia (the ruins of Maraqua perhaps?) where poor little pets are working their paws off making Plushies and clothes for you! Is this the secret reason for the Pound? Who put those Pickled Olives in pickle?

Shopkeepers everywhere!

So you're buying your groceries and curse the shopkeeper when he chucks you out for suggesting 1 NP was a good price for a Puzzle Fruit. But why harass the poor shopkeeper? These Neopians spend all day stuck in a sweaty, smelly, little shop selling Green Apples to lazy pets. Do you blame them? When were they last paid?

Other worlds

Did you spare a thought for the pets who run the Fruit Machine? Since when did Coltzan's ghost last get to peacefully retire?

Sabre-X spends all day guarding the omelette from your little thieving hands. When did you last thank him?

The Water Faerie heals your pet; the Faeries put jobs up on the agency; ask for quests; do magic; and they still found time to fight in the Battledome a while ago! How many times have you released a Faerie from its bottle to say thank you, or have you sold it on for profit?

Poor, poor Snowager... when did he last get a peaceful nap? When did Mika and Carassa have time to move? I could go on and on. And as for Krawk Island and Mystery Island, I pity them. Imagine what they must pass through--hoards of tourists trampling through their land, disturbing both the natural habitat and the slightly illegal activities. And both islands have their training masters who have to train your pets night and day, while you sit around and have a smoothie!

At least, Edna, the Esophagor and the Brain Tree get what they want from you. Edna, liberate your people! I propose a society of the downtrodden and hidden of Neopia, that are never seen! Join SODAH today!

Never again will the hidden scenes of Neopia be ignored!

SODAH founder,

Disclaimer - I do not encourage Edna to form any kind of society nor do I intend to. If you were getting worked up for the pets behind Neopia, there are no pets! They are little 2D drawings by people in the REAL world!

Disclaimer for the disclaimer above - NOOO! NEOPIA IS REAL! JOIN SODAH! FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT!

Disclaimer for all of the sad little disclaimers above - It's all gonna be okay. Nice men in white coats are coming for me. No more disclaimers; just a nice tight white jacket, a padded cell...

Please note - All Disclaimers probably have some degree of insanity in them. Translate this how you will!
