All right all you Neopians get your lucky shorts on, while we explore the world
of high stakes Chance!
I'll admit, I have gambled once or twice and, yes I have won some NP. However,
I have also lost things, including my pets good health. My Kau got Neopox because
of my addiction. The first step is admitting that you have a problem. Good now
we can move on, NeoPets has dozens of "chance" games, most of which
are pretty high stakes (more than 100 NP to play) Yes, it is possible to win,
but if you are all ready in the "hole", stop gambling and go get some NP! Now
I am going to review some of the more popular and addictive games.
The Wishing Well
is a lost cause. Don't be tricked into thinking that the more NP you donate
will increase your chances of winning. In fact, that is not true at all. The
amount that you practically throw away has no bearing on the odds of you receiving
your item. If you ask me you would be better off saving up, at least you get
interest at the bank.
The Stock Market
is a big gamble. With up to a thousand shares being traded at one time there
is a lot of NP exchanging hands. In recent days, the market has slowly been
declining. There has also been talk of a recession hitting Neopia. This means
that there will be variances in inflation and interest rates will keep declining.
However this is good news for the stock market, if you want to get in on the
ground floor. Now, is the perfect time to buy stocks while they are in the "red"
so to speak. However, be sure to monitor your stocks because a sudden drop in
their value could be devastating to your pocket.
Another big gamble is the Lottery,
there is like a 1 in 7000 chance (maybe smaller) that you will hit the jackpot.
Another big gambling no-no is Scratchcards.
There is no point to purchasing one of the cards because they can be taken from
the Snowager for free. I would suggest selling your Scratchcard rather than
using it. You will make a bigger profit that way.
So if you don't want to take my advice you should at least take into account
my gambling principles:
1. Don't every spend more than you have.
2. Keep some NP saved away; you never know when you may need it
3. Quit while you're ahead!! Don't bet 2000 NP on the Poogle Races
if you only came there with 50. take your winning and go!
4. Be careful where you lay a bet down. Get to know a certain game
with small bets and then place the big bets.
5. Try Jubjub
Blackjack. This game has the best player to house odds. This means that
the player will win more often.
If you find that NP burns a hole in your pocket or you have trouble feeding
your pets, you may have a problem. If the first thing you think when you log
on is "Do I feel lucky?" or if you wonder "Where do all my NP go?" then you
have a problem. There is a fine line between recreational gambling and an addiction.
There is help out there and the first step is admitting that you have a problem,
it's all downhill from there. Remember to have fun and that these are games.
Just don't let it get out of hand. If you do find yourself in a jam, take a
deep breath and go to the Money
Tree or play some free games. It is more important to feed your pets
than to satisfy your habit. Now, there it is, laid out on the table for you.
What'll you bet that you won't listen to me? |
