Elemental Distortions III: Part Six

by selphie_tilmitt

Bumble Bee
"A familiar site…" sighed Viator, as she flew through the open air. "At least it's not raining though." She smiled quickly, and realised that the only two sages left to find, would be the ones working with her. She silently wondered what they would be like, and how the other dragoons had gotten along with their sages.

Out of the blue, Viator suddenly got a strange urge to land. Looking below her, she saw nothing but a large field. She sighed, and figured that since she was relying on her instincts anyway, she might as well land.

Digging her feet into the ground as she landed, she folded up her wings, and took a quick sweep of the area. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. It just appeared to be a vast field, dewdrops glinting off the morning sunrise.

"Well, I hate to doubt my instincts, but…" she mumbled, as she walked through the field, looking for anything out of the ordinary.

Suddenly, she felt herself run into some form of hard surface.

"ACK!" she yelled, rubbing her damaged nose. "What… the..." she trailed off, blinking.

Nothing appeared to be there. Blinking again, Viator reached up, and knocked at the thin air. To her mild annoyance, her hand did indeed knock against a hard surface.

"A, force field?" she mumbled under her breath. Feeling around the large invisible wall in front of her. She sighed, and ran her hand against the field, following it to see where it possibly ended.

After a few minutes of just wandering around the barrier in the field, Viator sighed, and began to get annoyed.

"I've had enough." She frowned, pulling her arms back. "FI-IRE!" she yelled, a small ball of light forming in her withdrawn arms. "BAAAAAAALL!" She extended her arms at these last words, and a large ball of flame shot from her palms, straight at the wall.

As it impacted, a large explosion ensued, and Viator ducked to avoid some of the heat and debris.

"I guess that won't be a problem anymore." She smiled to herself, stepping forward.

To her dismay, she once again crashed into the force field.

"AUGH! WHAT KIND OF MAGIC IS THIS!!" she yelled, stomping her feet in anger, preparing attack the wall, full force.

"It's not magic," came a voice from behind her.

"Excuse me!" yelled Viator, turning.

"It's technology," said the silver Shoyru standing before her.

Viator raised an eyebrow at the Shoyru before her. He stood with his arms crossed, on his hands were metallic gloves that had small wires running throughout them. Around his waist and tail, were bands, which appeared to be made of the same material, and had wires spiralling throughout them as well. All three of these garments seemed to be made from a semitransparent material, as the wires tended to blink and glow in different colours from time to time.

"Did you hear me?" said the Shoyru, narrowing his green eyes at her.

"Yes I did. No need to get impatient Mister," Viator said, rolling her hand.

"Wing... no mister. My full name is Wing41." The silver Shoyru smirked, flicking his wrists at her.

"Well, Wing. Would you mind taking this down? I have a little errand I need to run," said Viator, impatiently rolling her eyes, and tapping at the force field again.

"Pay the toll then." He smirked, holding out his gloved hand.

"I'll pay the toll of not braking every bone in your body…" Viator frowned, raising an eyebrow at his hand.

"Hmph," said Wing, turning away. Quickly, he flicked his wrist again. The gloves began to glow, and a small, semitransparent black laptop appeared in mid air. "E-eh?" blinked Viator.

"Well, let's just see if I can believe you!" Wing smirked, turning back, the laptop following his hands. "Your name is?"

"Viator..." She was getting slightly annoyed.

"Well, Miss Viator," scoffed Wing, deftly tapping a few commands into the computer. It flashed quickly, and his eyebrows rose in surprise. "Oh… wow!"

"Hmph." Viator frowned again, turning away.

"Viator… wow… Fire Dragon Knight... hm... quite a history... such power," mumbled Wing, tapping away at the computer. He blinked quickly, and waved his hands again. The small computer disappeared quickly, and he stood facing Viator.

"No toll necessary!" he grinned, waving his hands.

"I thought so!" grinned Viator, turning just in time to watch the invisible wall behind her appear to flash what looked to be grid lines, and disappear. "Whoa," she mumbled.

"Impressed?" asked Wing.

"Slightly, I've seen better spells," sighed Viator.

"I already told you, it's not a spell!" cried Wing.

"Whatever," said Viator, rolling her eyes as she stepped out of the field.

Quickly, she felt a surge of Fire essence.

"Figures," she sighed, closing her eyes, and picturing the ball of red light. She turned slowly, and opened her eyes, set on Wing. Naturally, the glowing ball clearly surrounded him.

"What are you waiting for?" yelled Wing.

"Egh… on second though Wing," laughed Viator, as she strode back over. "How's about we chat for a while?" she laughed, throwing her arm over his shoulder.

"Oh, about the sages?" he said, blinking his green eyes.

"Wha? You already know???" asked Viator, as her jaw dropped.

"Oh yeah. By looking you up, I automatically tapped into the informational matrix that contained the entire history of the dragons and the mazoku, including the knights and sages…" he explained to the stunned fire Shoyru,

"Oh then…you know that you're," continued Viator.

"The Fire Sage?" he grinned.

"HOW DO YOU KNOW??" she cried.

He grinned again. "Just a good educated guess."

"Phssah…!!!" cried Viator, stomping in frustration.

"At least you won't have to waste time explaining things to me," smiled Wing.

"Good point," said Viator, her mood lightening. "Well, I suppose you already know you need to find your fellow sage."

"Oh ,yes!" grinned Wing, flicking his wrists again. The transparent computer appeared again quickly, and he tapped away on the keys.

"Shouldn't you be concentrating?" said Viator, looking over his shoulder with curiosity.

"I am," he replied, deep in thought. "My fellow fire Sage, should be just over that mountain." The computer quickly disappeared, and he turned to point to a large mountain in the distance.

"Whatever you say," replied the mystified Viator. She really didn't understand anything about Wing. "Let's just... go…" and she opened her wings, and began to flap them.

"After you!" smiled Wing, following her example.

After a moment of getting their bearings straight, the two Shoyrus set off for the mountain.

Get the party started!
The fire and silver Shoyru zipped speedily through the air. Viator's face was beginning to show the need for speed, as she could tell the final battle was looming ever closer.

"Down the next ridge!" yelled Wing, pointing downwards.

"Let's go!" yelled Viator back, as she ducked out to begin her landing.

Spotting the small crevasse in the mountain, Viator zoomed downwards to what appeared to be a small valley. She extended her legs, and landed in a small patch of wildflowers. Behind her, she heard Wing land, and let out a loud sneeze.

"AUGH! Pollen!" he yelled, sneezing again, obviously allergic.

"You're the one guiding us," laughed Viator, turning to face him. "Where is the next Sage anyway?"

"I don't understand," blinked Wing. "He should be right here!" And he pointed down, to emphasise his point.

"Maybe your little computer was wrong!" frowned Viator.

"It wasn't! It never is!" cried Wing.

"WELL! Maybe if you had concentrated, and done it more TRADITIONALLY!" began Viator. "You would understand that being a Sage means that you don't depend on technology! Your computer can't reach out and save you in the middle of a battle."

"Uhm," blinked Wing, gasping.

"Yes, don't worry though," continued Viator.

"Uhm… V-v-viator?" stuttered Wing, pointing to something behind Viator.

"Yup, good old common sense!" said Viator, raising an all knowing finger. "What's wrong?" she blinked, looking at her stuttering companion.

Suddenly, a large claw rushed forward, slicing just beside Viator's head.

"ACK!" she cried, barely dodging the second. "What the?!" she yelled, quickly dodging the claws.

"I was trying to tell you to watch out!" yelled Wing.

"Thanks A LOT!" yelled Viator, a hint of annoyance in her voice as she dodged the slashing and punching claws.

Ducking her head to the side, she could barely make out the form of a well armed Desert Shoyru attacking her. On his fists and feet were large metal claws, designed to allow him to fight fist to fist and still deal great damage. He wore no other garments, besides those of a regular desert Shoyru.

Frowning, Viator decided she might as well start fighting back. As another claw lunged forward, she saw her chance, and swung back. She grimaced as she saw the Shoyru dodge, and kick out his foot.

Back flipping quickly, and swinging her tail around, she heard the attacker speak.

"Who are you?"

"Viator, loyal Knight to the fire dragon!" she cried, dodging another fist.

"Why are you here?"

"Seeking the second fire sage!" she yelled, kicking forward.

"Why do you think this sage is here?"

"My partner is the one who said he felt it here!" she yelled again, sending out another fist. She sighed happily, as she felt it connect to the Shoyru's face. It sputtered quickly, and flew back.

"Now will you listen?" she cried.

"Hyeh," said the desert Shoyru, smiling. "You're a good fighter."

"Of course I am. I am a dragon knight!" grinned Viator, unable to resist the praise.

"I'm Flarizar," the desert Shoyru said, holding out a hand. Quickly, the metal claws clanked back, withdrawing to the metal bands around his wrists and ankles.

"You already know who I am," grinned Viator, taking his hand. They shook once, quickly, and drew back.

"Are you the sage?" asked Viator, raising an eyebrow.

"How should I know. You're the hunter. I'm just a Shoyru that's been training around here," grinned Flarizar.

"Hmm…how to find out," mumbled Viator, closing her eyes in thought.

"Uhmm, hello?" came the surprised voice of Wing, as he stepped forward. "I can tell you."

"OH YEAH!" laughed Viator, slapping her forehead. "So?"

"Naturally, my location was right!" grinned Wing, crossing his arms, and standing in a triumphant manner.

"I guess that would make me a Sage?" said Flarizar, showing a hint of a smile.

"I s'pose so!" laughed Viator. "I guess you two want to go see the Fire Dragon now."

"What? I still don't even know what a sage is," Flarizar said, frowning.

"I'll explain it to you on the way there," Wing said, patting his partner on the back. He withdrew it when he spotted his partner's fierce scowl.

Laughing quietly to herself, Viator took off into the open sky, knowing the two would follow.

After a full half day of flying, the trio finally arrived at the Tyrannian Volcano.

"It's about TIME!" sighed Viator. "My aching wings!"

"Seriously," sighed Wing.

Flarizar said nothing, but simply stared down at the volcano.

"Let's head in then," smiled Viator, diving forward.

"Bu-but you can't just enter an active volcano!!" cried Wing.

"Nonsense!" came the faraway reply of Viator, who seemed already half way in the volcano.

"You can't! It'll erupt!" cried Wing again, looking frantically at his partner for help.

Flarizar merely shrugged, and followed after Viator. After a few more moments of frantic rationalisation, Wing followed.
