The Shadow Government's REAL Intentions by lady_pisces | |
Over the last few Neopian Times Issues, I've seen many articles discussing
the mysterious Shadow Government (SG), the organization that rules Neopia Central.
These articles discuss ordinary Neopians and places, and question their motives;
Is it really ordinary business, or is there a conspiracy going on through the
Shadow Government? I've read all of these articles eagerly, and I agree with
many of them. However, the other day, I came to a realisation.
What if the Shadow Government isn't really as suspicious and corrupting as
it sounds? What if the Shadow Government isn't really out to have power and
rule Neopia? You may ask, " Then how do you explain all the missing Neopoints
and items, all the "coincidences" that seem too easy to have happened by chance?"
Well, it is very simple. I'm not denying the Shadow Government's existence.
I'm saying that the Shadow Government isn't really trying to fool us Neopians.
My whole point revolves around the Advent Calendar. It occurs every year in
December. Think about it. All those Neopoints, and all those prizes have got
to come from somewhere. My theory is, that all the Neopoints and items that
the Shadow Government gets, one way or another, all goes to the Advent Calendar
at the end of the year. Every day, the Advent calendar gives out items, whose
values add up to millions of Neopoints. The items vary from food to weapons
to books. Where would all these items come from? The shop owners might donate
some of their wares, but everyone knows that Christmas is the time when the
shops reap in their Neopoints to help them through the next year. If the shops
lose those Neopoints, there is no way they could survive, especially in places
similar to Mystery Island. Everyone wants to travel tropical during the freezing
winter!
It used to be that the Advent Calendar didn't exist. What happened to all
the loot back then? Well, back then, the whole world of Neopia was still developing.
Dr. Sloth came with his Virtual Space Station, and the SG needed all the money
they could get to pool together with The Alliance, a group of countries who
helped to battle Dr. Sloth. The SG also gave money to those small countries
that Dr. Sloth had already vanquished, and left in ruins.
There were less NeoPets users back then, and therefore less to get for the
Advent Calendar. The Haunted Forest came about to house ghosts and ghouls. These
were the first real agents for the SG, for it was so easy for them to take items
and Neopoints, as well as manage the Money Tree.
At one point, the Money Tree income dwindled, and the SG, who, at that time,
had stockpiled their treasury, noticed that Neopia Central was getting poorer
and poorer. So they began rewarding any kind soul who donated to the Money tree,
not matter what the item was. The SG could always trade with other countries
for other items that would have more value in Neopia Central. Today, the SG
continues to reward those who donate to the Money Tree, though less frequently.
The Battledome came, and along with it numerous weapons and defence items.
This new idea cost millions. Many citizens from everywhere had expressed a desire
of testing strengths and skills, having more competition against others. So
The Alliance re-banded and began the famed Battledome. Each country had to build
an arena and stock up with new attack items. The Faeries had to be paid to obtain
many of the magical weapons. Every country had supplies that the other needed.
There was, also, of course, the friendly rivalry of building the best arena,
having the most exquisite weapons, or the best defense for miles around. The
Mystery Island Training School opened, and all the countries had to pay the
island to obtain the Codestones, ancient carved rocks found only on Mystery
Island.
So, actually, the SG is more of like a Santa Claus Government. For what ruler(s)
wants to see their country die, and fall into poverty, not to prosper? So, every
December, in the holiday spirit, the SG opens the Advent calendar to help the
beautiful and ugly, the rich and the poor, the small and the big, and everything
in-between. The SG, along with The Alliance, is there to make sure the world
of Neopia continues to go 'round, to change, to prosper, to hope, and to accomplish.
These are not conspiracies; they are the Neopian way of life.
Hopefully, if the SG doesn't track me down for guessing their intentions,
I'll try to write more about what the REAL intentions of the Shadow Government
are. I'll also try to put in more about "The Alliance"! |
