Christmas 2001 is just around the corner!! Shops start to sell Christmas decorations,
and many other Christmas merchandise. You now have a few weeks time to prepare
for this special event. Other than doing your Christmas shopping (for gifts
etc.) in the shops, why not do-it-yourself on NeoPets? Below is a list of some
festive ideas for you to prepare for a NeoPets-style Christmas for you and your
family. These activities should keep you busy for a while for Christmas ;) Not
only will you learn a lot, you will also have fun doing these activities!
Now let's start off with some things to do on the site:
1. Your Pet's Homepage
As Christmas approach, the NeoPets staff might make some festive fun images,
but we're not sure about it yet. So to be sure that your pets pages will be
prepared for Christmas this year, start decorating their homepages NOW! There
are lots of free festive graphics out there on the net (find "free Christmas
graphics" on some search engine). USE these free services! If you have trouble
with HTML, remember there's always the NeoPets HTML Help page to assist you.
2. Your Pet's "Physical" Appearance
More to do with your pets' appearances... give your pet a Christmas outfit by
buying it a Christmas paint brush! If your pet doesn't have a Christmas p/b
available for use, draw your pet with its unique Christmas outfit on paper,
then scan it to join beauty contest or the picture competition :D
3. YOUR Celebration
Make you user profile Christmas style by using some simple CSS code (cascading
style sheets). There are lots of tutorials about CSS on the net, it's not hard
to tackle once you start to understand the concept ;) Some kind of simple example
can be seen with my user profile. That's not all you can do to celebrate Christmas
on NeoPets! Don't forget something important.... some people who are always
there with you... THE GUILD YOU'RE PART OF!! Celebrate this once-in-a-year seasonal
event with your guild. Have games, activities, celebrations, and most of all,
HAVE FUN!!
NeoPets-STYLE GIFT IDEAS
For people who can't go online for a long period of time, not only can
you celebrate online, you can also celebrate a Neo-Christmas OFFline!
1. NeoPets Christmas Cards
Seen the NeoPets Wallpapers? You know what? You can be made into Christmas cards
too! Save the picture into your computer, then print it out on a full size A4
paper. Then stick in onto another sheet of A4 paper with glue. This will become
your card's front. Behind this "thick card", you can now write your message
to your family and friends, and wish them a Merry Christmas! You can even put
it under the Christmas tree for decoration ;)
2. NeoPets Figurines (clay dolls)
I believe most of you have seen cartoon merchandise being sold in shops. Now
you can try to make your own figurines (clay dolls) yourself! To get clay, you
may either buy them from shops, or make your own "simple clay" with flour and
water. Mold the piece of clay (flour) into the shape of your desired NeoPet.
When your model is dry, paint it. Then it's done! These can make great gifts
too :D
3. Do-it-yourself Stationery
Personally, I don't live in the US, so I haven't been to any of the stores which
sell NeoPets merchandise. Some simple things you can try to "make" include stationery
such as pencils, erasers, and stickers. Firstly, find a NeoPet picture you like,
and draw it onto a piece of paper (be original and creative!). That was the
hard part. Now here comes the easy part: wrap the picture around your pencil,
or glue it onto your eraser cover, or draw your NeoPet pic onto some label paper
to make stickers. You'll be surprised at how your friends would love these homemade
NeoPets goods!
4. Official NeoPets Plushies from Online Store
Everyone should know now... that NeoPets plushies are now available for sale
in the online store! How can you resist these lovable NeoPets plushies? As cheriebebe
mentioned in week 12 of the new Neopian Times: "Plushies Make Great Gifts"!
So take some plushies home today, and show people your love towards NeoPets!
(These plushies also make great decoration for putting them around your computer!)
