Louria, a faerie Kougra was reading through The Neopian Times when she came
across an article. "The Snowager is awake... in the Battledome?!" She grinned.
"Lady come here!!"
Her sister, LadyLilly, a young blue Gelert ran into the kitchen. "Yes Lour?"
Louria looked excited. "The Snowager is in the Battledome! You know what that
means?"
Lady looked confused and shook her head. "Noo... we don't fight in the Battledome,
Lour... you know that!"
Louria nodded softly, twinkle in her soft gold eyes. "Yes... but if he's busy
fighting in the Battledome his cave won't be guarded!"
Lady saw her sister's excitement and chuckled. "Are you saying..." Her eyes
widened. "You're saying that you want to go raid his cave?"
Louria jumped up and nodded excitedly. "Get your coat, Lady! We're going to
the Ice Caves!"
As Louria packed two backpacks with their lunch, extra clothes and other necessities
Lady tried to change her mind. "B-But Louria! Mom doesn't know... and... and
it could be really d-d-dangerous!" Louria frowned and spoke firmly.
"Lady, Mom will be glad when we come back with armloads of treasure! She'll
forget that she was ever mad at us! Now come on. Get your coat, it's going to
be cold." Lady sighed but grabbed her coat, hat and scarf.
When they were both ready with their coats and backpacks Louria quickly scribbled
a note for Jenny then they left the house. The two quickly walked down their
street and entered Neopia Central. Louria glanced down at the map. "We have
to exit Neopia Central...and find a boat... not the one to Mystery Island but
the one to Terror Mountain. Do you have ANY idea where it is?" Lady shook her
head softly. "I've been in the pound most of my life Louria, how should I know
these things?" Lady smiled at her sister. "Sorry Lady...I'm just really excited!"
Lady chuckles and they scurried away from Neopia Central.
After wandering around in circles they stopped an old Wocky. "Um...excuse me
mister," Louria stopped him. "Do you know where we could find the boat to Terror
Mountain?" The old Wocky smiled, spots around his deep blue eyes wrinkling.
There were patches of white hair on his head and he wore small glasses. The
Wocky smelt strongly of sea salt. "Ah... yesh I do little girl. Why might you
be asking?" Lilly giggled, liking his deep accent. "We want to get the Snowager's
treasure!" Lilly giggled again as the Wocky reached out to her and ruffled the
hair on her head. "Aye...many a pet have been traveling over there lately..."
His eyes took a faraway look to them, then it seemed they returned to the present.
"Ah, as for directions just follow the stone path... it'll lead you to the docks."
He pointed the path out and with a kind smile began to whistle and walked off.
As they walked down the path Louria frowned and turned to Lilly. "Why did
you tell the old Wocky our plan?" Lilly giggled again, remembering the scent
of the Wocky.
"He was funny Louri... I-I liked him! He seemed so kind..." She laughed and
inhaled. A deep scent of the sea traveled down to her and tickled her nose.
"We're close Louria! We're close to the docks!"
Louria rolled her eyes and looked ahead. "Of course we're close silly... look
ahead!" She pointed ahead and the sight of the docks came into view.
Seamen bustled around on the docks, loading crates and barrels into large sailboats.
Yells and screeches of seagulls echoed around the wooden pathways. Different
sorts of boats were anchored to the deck and different people and their pets
were being loaded onto the fancier ships. Lilly gathered herself and ran towards
a smaller yet nice looking motorboat. "Come on Louria! This one will go the
fastest!" Lour hurried after her sister and they loaded themselves into the
boat.
Soon the motorboat was ready and the captain was motoring away from the dock.
Lilly giggled and leaned out the side of it while Louria made sure she didn't
fall off. "We're almost there Louri! Almost there! We can do it... we'll make
it!" Louria laughed and nodded. "Yes... I hope so." Soon the motorboat landed
at Happy Valley and the two got off. "Thank you very much mister!" They chorused
and hurried away.
Chias and Bruces happily played in the large snowdrifts and many shopkeepers
were giving away free hot-chocolate. Both Lilly and Louria refused the hot-chocolate
and made their way to the long narrow ledge that led up to the Ice Caves. It
wasn't slippery, like some tales will lead you to believe. There were small
little steps that were carved out of the ice, and stone was coating it so it
wasn't too slippery. They strolled up the ledge happily (although Lilly slipped
a couple of times) and finally reached the Ice Caves.
Louria breathed a sigh of admiration. "It's just like I imagined it to be...I...I
can't believe my eyes!" She blinked and Lilly grinned. "Come on Louri! We're
almost there...we can't just stop and admire the view now! We'll do that on
the way back." Tugging on her sisters coat she pulled her towards the Snowager's
Cave. It was dark and cold near the entrance. A large sign stood beside it reading
Snowager's Cave!
DO NOT ENTER made Louria shiver but they ignored it and entered the
cave anyway.
They gasped as they saw what they weren't expecting. It was the Snowager...he
wasn't in the Battledome...he was here, real, alive and... "Sleeping!" Lilly
said excitedly. "Come on Loui... grab something while you can!" Lilly bent down
and took a Starry Paintbrush while Louria stood there, frozen. Lilly frowned.
"Come ON Louria, just take something already!" Lilly pushed her towards the
mound of treasure. As she did so, she pushed Louria right into the Snowager's
tail.
They both waited for a reaction and Louria stood up. "Lilly!" She hissed. "You
almost ruined everything! Don't do that again-" She was cut off as she stepped
on a block of ice and slipped, falling back, hard onto the Snowager's tail yet
again. This time they could hear it. The Snowager opened his eyes immediately
and snorted, whipping his face around to face both of the pets. Lilly dropped
the paintbrush immediately and watched the large ice snake. Puffs of air that
you could see blew out of his nose and all of a sudden he opened his mouth.
"RUN!" Louria screamed and they scrambled to get out of there. They ran to
the back wall where they had come from, only to see the entrance wasn't there
anymore... it was on the OTHER side! The Snowager slithered over the mound of
treasure over to the pets. Lilly grabbed Louria and ran over the pile, right
beside the Snowager. Louria screamed loudly and the Snowager whipped around
and breathed on them, chilling them to the very bone. Lilly screeched and ran
out of the entrance, towing Louria behind her.
The two shivered as they were out of the cave. He hadn't used his ice attack...but
they were cold and sure that hitpoints were gone. "Th-Thanks Lilly... I surely
would have be a goner if you hadn't pulled me out of there... thanks."
Lilly breathed heavily. "You're welcome... just... don't EVER bring me here
again." Louria laughed and hugged her sister. "I won't, don't worry. Sorry about
that sis." Lilly hugged her back. "That's fine... now let's get home."
When the two had returned to the house Jenny greeted them with a hug. "What
happened you two?" They glanced at each other and smiled secretly. "Well...
let's tell you about it over a Cup of Hot Borovan." Louria grinned and they
all walked into the kitchen together.
