The Adventure Truly Begins
That night Rome couldn't sleep. He just kept thinking about that Zafara. He
remembered that she said it was a camouflage ability. Was there a new type of
faerie, or had the Earth Faerie made a new ability? Maybe she was an alien.
Maybe she was going to take over Neopia and only he could stop her!
Rome's thoughts were interrupted by a voice calling, "Hey! Alien boy! Come
out here!" He slowly stood up. Who was that? he thought. "Wait, alien
boy... It must be that Zafara!"
Rome didn't hesitate to get to the mouth of the cave. As he had hoped the
alien/ghost/Zafara was waiting there. Before he could say anything she said,
"Listen, I'm sorry about today. I didn't realise how strong and brave you are."
Rome stood up proudly and said, "Are you just realising that?"
The Zafara then said, "I have a quest for you."
Rome looked glad and asked in a deep heroic voice, "What is this quest you
wish to give me?"
The Zafara replied, "You see the Earth Faerie doesn't understand why Lupes
hunt so much and will punish them by creating a long harsh winter to freeze
them to death. To prevent this we need to find a book containing everything
she needs to know about Lupes. After that we must make a treacherous journey
to get to her large castle and get past her guards to give it to her." Rome
paused for awhile and then said, "Wow, it sounds scar--I mean challenging. I'll
do it!"
The Zafara smiled. "Great! My name is Rain and yours is....."
"Rome."
"We should start now, before it's too late."
Rome nodded and they set off.
The ground was covered with a thick layer of snow. More was slowly falling
on top of them. They went all the way through the forest. When they came out
they were covered with snow. They walked quite a distance until they got to
a large crevice. Rome looked down it and saw that the walls were covered in
ice. The whole thing was six feet across and at least a mile down. Small ledges
lined the sides going downwards. They were also covered in ice.
"The book's down there somewhere. I would go get it but I'm really tired,
I need to regain my strength. Could you do it?"
"Uhhhh, sure, if Lupe kind depends on it... How do I get it?" Rome replied.
Rain weakly walked to the edge and looked down.
"It looks like you can hop down those small ledges on the sides." Rome looked
down at the ledges. They looked slippery. I can't back out now! Rome
thought. Lupe kind depends on me!
"Okay, if that's the only way down...." Rome jumped onto the first one, the
second one, the fourth one, etc. When Rome was making his way down Rain gave
out a slightly evil laugh as he went down....
Meanwhile, Rome hoped down from about the forty-second ledge and onto the bottom.
He expected the bottom to bee smooth, solid ground, but it was actually cold
ice. The worst part was that the ice was in the shape of waves, easy to trip
on or slip on and believe me, they were sharp! Apparently is was a frozen river
at the bottom of a canyon.
Rome stumbled across the frozen waves, wishing that he would find the book
soon, his paws were getting numb! At one point, he tripped over one of the "ice
waves", fell down, cut his paw and slid until he hit a large rock. He was a
bit dazed but woke up. To his surprise he found himself in a lush green jungle.
He was in a small clearing, next to a river bank. Suddenly he felt warm, not
cold anymore.
The nice feeling didn't last for long though, soon he was being pelted with
coconuts.
If you haven't guessed yet he was in Tyrannia. He had found his way down in
a crevice (like the on near Terror Mountain). He was being pelted with coconuts
by mischievous Pteris. Of course he didn't know anything about what was happening,
so he was rather confused.
"Hey!!! What the hec-"
At this point he was cut off by a rather large heavy object being thrown at
him. This knocked the breath right out of him. After this the Pteris seemed
satisfied and left.
Rome was almost afraid to open his eyes in fear of what might happen to him
next, but them he remembered about saving Lupe kind and looked at what had hit
him and nearly destroyed him.
It was a thickly bound book. The book. "Yessssss!" he cried in joy. He hastily
picked the book and made his way to the river. It was perfect, there was a log
that he could sail back on and he could take one of the vines and use it to
climb back up. The only thing that would possibly get in his way was that enormous
red Grarrl.
The Grarrl made a lunge for him and Rome was lucky that it didn't get his tail
bit off! Rome jumped onto the log and paddled in the water for his life. By
chance he made away from the Grarrl and into a dark tunnel. He couldn't see
in there but he knew that he was getting close because he could feel the chill
in the air and pretty soon he had to walk on the ice. The brightness and the
cold shocked him when he got out of the tunnel but he soon got used to it and
started using the vine to climb up the walls.
"I don't know where he is! Yes, I know the storm's coming soon bu-nevermind,"
Rain was talking on a walkie-talkie when she saw Rome coming up, then she put
it away.
"WHERE WERE YOU!!!!!! THE STORM'S ALREADY STARTED!!!!!" cried Rain angrily.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry!! There were too many ledges! The bottom waves were sharp!!
I got the book," he replied.
"We're going to have to travel faster..." she said.
So they started off again. After trekking for a while a small blue ball of
fluff rolled down a hill in front of them. It turned out to be a Jubjub.
"Hi! Me am Jibby, who you?" he said cheerfully.
Rome answered, "I'm Rome and she's Rain and we're on a quest to save Lupe kind!"
"WOW!!!!!! Can Jibby come too?" Jibby answered.
Rain quickly answered, "You can help Rome go through the Ice Caves!"
"ICE CAVES!!!" Rome cried. "Why me!?"
"BECAUSE, there are guards that will get you if you go around the caves!"
"Oh."
"I'll take the book."
"Why can't I take it?"
"I said you were brave and strong, not responsible!"
Rome growled and kneeled down so Jibby could climb on and he trotted off towards
the Ice Caves which were only a few hills away. Rain took a two hour walk around
the caves and when she got to the exit she fell asleep.
Jibby cautiously made his way out of the Ice Caves and saw Rain sleeping. He
saw her mouth open and got curious. When Rain woke up she found something fluffy
in her mouth. She spat it out and found that that thing was Jibby. "HEY!!!"
She growled and then asked, "Where's Mr. Hero?"
"Something went boom!"
"Is he alive?"
"..........Something went boom!"
"WHAT WENT BOOM!?"
Jibby saw a Doglefox and said, "WOW!!!" He rolled away after it. "Okay...."
Rain turned her back to the caves and looked up. A short distance away an almost
vertical hill stood. On top of it was a large castle. A dark figure appeared
at the mouth of the cave behind her. She turned around and gasped.
