Hi, it’s me HarpyAnne the now World Famous Scientist! If you haven’t read any
of my previous articles,
I’m a purple Chomby on my expeditions. I often get my brothers and sister to
help me out, Adrastis the Yellow Kau, Roosey the White Blumaroo and Clawbeak
the electric Eyrie. I have recently been studying Eyries and which NeoPets are
predators
or prey.
On a walk the other day with my brothers, sister, and owner I looked around
at all the different NeoPets having a picnic in Kiko Lake and realised there
were no Korbats! On studying up on the Korbats I learned they were nocturnal
and I had to find out more about the Korbats--observe the Korbats in the wild!
I was a little nervous about going to the Neopian Central Forest by myself at
night; I wanted to bring Clawbeak, who was not scared of anything! But she was
asleep so I had to stick with Adrastis, we were well armed before heading off,
it was nearly Midnight when we set off. We passed The Magic Shop and noticed
the door opened and lights turned on (Did I mention loves magic and loves Kauvara.
He wants to become her apprentice but is too scared to ask and doesn’t think
he’s talented enough?). We went into Kauvara’s shop and she greeted us happily,
we were good friends with Kauvara. After a while I decided to ask Kauvara about
the Midnight Neopians and find out all she knew.
HarpyAnne: Okay Kauvara, can you please tell us all you know about the Korbats?
Kauvara: I don’t know too much about too much about the Korbats, I have some
Korbat fur here to make a new batch of Korbat Transmogrification Potion.
HarpyAnne: When you’re working late, do you see any Korbats?
Kauvara: That’s why I stay open late! For the Korbats! Many Korbat owners bring
their Korbat in at this time to have a look around.
Harpy: Well, from what you’ve heard from Korbats, are they friendly?
Kauvara: They are very friendly, I have heard many tales of Korbats swooping
on Kaus while there sleeping, but it’s simply not true. They're wonderful little
NeoPets who are always really friendly.
HarpyAnne: Do you know of any Wild Korbat colonies in the forest?
Kauvara: Hmmm… actually the other night I had a little Blue Korbat come in
here to buy some slippery floor, he was going to visit his cousins who are wild
Korbats living in the forest.
Adrastis was just staring at Kauvara and muttered something at her for ten
minutes, but after that we left and headed towards the forest. We walked through
the forest and were absolutely amazed--Korbats were zipping through the air
over our heads. They perched themselves on branches of large trees. We saw some
baby Korbats playing a game where they would hang on to a branch with there
claws and let themselves drop so they were spinning around the branch eventually
they would launch themselves into the air.
At first I was a little nervous because I saw a rather large Korbat catch an
insect PetPet and eat it, but he soon came down and greeted us before flying
away again. I also observed how the Korbats stayed in large family groups. One
group would be living in one hollow tree, they had little carved words above
the opening of the tree. Later on in the night I saw some Usuls sharing out
fruit and nuts with the Korbats before jumping away to there own trees. Did
I discover a hidden friendship between the Usul and Korbat?
Early in the morning, while Adrastis and myself were sitting on the ground,
we were horrified to see a large mean looking green Skeith come stomping through
the forest, he had been abandoned by his owner and was trying to get his hands
on something to sell for some Neopoints. He eyed our rather expensive Battledome
weapons. Suddenly, the large Korbat, the one that ate the insect PetPet, swooped
down on the Skeith. He showed his fangs and the Skeith simply ran off in the
other direction. The Korbat smiled at us before telling us to come back for
a visit. He swooped off into his tree just as the sun came up.
The Korbats were truly tough yet friendly NeoPets, they are noble and are always
thinking of protecting other Neopians. They live in family groups and like nothing
better than playing a game with each other.
Thank you for all the feedback I got from my last two articles, if anyone wishes
for me to go on another expedition studying a specific type of NeoPet, then
please send me a Neomessage to my owner who will be more than happy to give
it to me. Once again, THANK YOU! |
