"Mom, will you stop giving quests for at least one day?"
"Honey, I haven't completed all of my spells yet. I don't need a vacation..."
"Mom, have you forgotten that there are people out there who can't afford
the items? You're giving them quests too hard!"
"Samantha, I'm just giving them the lists, they don't actually need to bring
them, but it would be good if they did...and I do reward the ones who do it
right, you know..."
"Yeah, with toys and Neggs...and the stupid snowballs..."
"Samantha, I give some NP too... and once, I gave somebody a Necklace of the
Water Faerie..."
"Oh yeah, the key word in there is once."
Samantha, a Casual Snow Faerie, was having her morning argument with her mom,
the Snow Faerie in Terror Mountain who gave out quests.
"Mom, I'm telling you, take a day off for once! Give the explorers, who came
all the way from the center of Neopia, a chance to save up their NP..."
"Honey, it wouldn't be right..."
Samantha put her fingers in her ears, and yelled, "I CAN'T HEAR YOU, MOTHER!
OH, GO OFF TO EMILY'S?? OKAY, BYE!"
"But, Samantha..."
The Snow Faerie was cut off by the sound of Samantha slamming the door to the
Palace, and one of her mother's precious Aisha Ice Totems fell to the floor,
and crashed into millions of pieces.
The Snow Faerie sighed, and picked up the pieces of the broken Ice Totem. She
muttered something about her daughter, and threw the pieces into the trash.
Samantha was flying over the Winter World, and then went into the Neopia Central.
She flew over to her friend Emily's house. Emily was a casual Earth Faerie,
who basically, had the same problems as Samantha. Samantha knocked on the door,
and Emily answered. "Hi, Samantha."
"Hi. Let's take a walk around Neopia."
"Sure. Just let me go get Chloro." Emily was one of the few Faeries licensed
to have a NeoPet. Chlorophyll(we'll call him Chloro for short), a Faerie Korbat,
came out.
"Chloro, we're gonna take a walk around Neopia." Chloro sighed, and he said,
"All right. Let's go."
The Faeries flew to Neopia Central, where they had to move quickly, as not
to attract attention. When they moved to the Clothes Shop Window, Chloro immediately
said, "Oooh, look! They have Halloween Costumes!"
Samantha and Emily looked. They were awed by how authentic the Faerie costumes
looked. "Hey, look, that looks just like my outfit!" Emily gasped, pointing
to an Earth Faerie costume. A Silver Shoyru picked one out, then a Green Nimmo,
then a Koi, and so on and so on until they were all sold out.
"Look! They have some in my outfit, too!" Samantha pointed to a pile of Snow
Faerie costumes, but they were dusty, and they were lying untouched. Samantha
frowned, and looked at Emily. Emily looked at her, concern in her eyes.
"Ooooh, let's go in, let's go in!" Chloro was bugging them over and over, wanting
to get a costume.
"All right, Chloro, we'll go in," the Earth Faerie said grimly.
It was always a nightmare for a Faerie to go into a shop, because there are
always people goggling over them, asking for their autograph. However, it was
different this time.
"Nice costumes!" the shopkeeper yelled. A very smart looking Jetsam came over
and examined them.
"The Earth Faerie costume looks a little more bright then the real Earth Faerie
outfit, but the Snow Faerie Costume looks perfect. I wonder where you can get
some that looks exactly like that. You both look almost like real Faeries in
those outfits."
"Wha-?" Samantha looked at Emily, and Emily looked at Samantha. They both had
confusion in their eyes. Then, they both started to laugh. The Snow Faerie costumes
then became a big hit, and the were sold out in less than a minute. Then, they
walked home, for once. Nobody asked for autographs, because they thought that
they were just some owners wearing their costumes early.
Emily looked behind them at Chlorophyll. "Hey, Chloro, what costume did you
get?" The Korbat looked in his bag, and took out a Dr. Sloth costume. He smiled
proudly.
Samantha and Emily suddenly stopped walking, and stared hard at Chloro, their
expressions as hard as ice.
Chloro clearly didn't get the message, because he started putting the costume
on.
Then, the Neopians walking by started yelling and screaming, "It's Sloth!"
"Sloth has returned!"
Then, Emily took him by the ear and said, "We're going to have a long talk
about this when we get home, Chlorophyll."
"Ow...let go of my ear..."
Samantha laughed as the two of them flew home, or, Emily flying, grasping Chloro.
Samantha said, "Boy, we sure are gonna have a weird Halloween!"
