The Crystal Ball

by BaByxAnGeL274

It seems everyday new features and items are being added to NeoPets, and it can be hard to keep up. So what's that got to do with the price of Neggs? Well, when new items are introduced, it goes through somewhat or a price wave. When they first come out the prices go through the roofs because there are so few and hard to get. Then, once enough come into NeoPets the prices tend to go down again. And then when an item comes out with more uses, it goes back up... and once everyone has gotten use to it... back down again. So with all these changes there is a lot to keep track of.

However, price changes might not be as hard to predict as you'd think. With a little research and observing you can more of less figure out what's going to be the next big thing... and what's on its way out. Here are my predictions for the next few months...

Increase in Value
A use thing to go up in prices will be plants. With the NeoGardens coming out soon, everyone will be wanted to get their hands on plants to fill their NeoGardens with. Right there is no use for them, so shop keepers are practically giving away some, and others will cost your on a few hundred to a couple thousand Neopoint. But nothing nearly as much as they will soon be costing you.

Also, playing cards. The game has not come out yet, but the prices for them has been going up ever since everyone's card deck can be seen in their profiles. Everyone wants to have a well rounded deck and the biggest and best one. If the prices are going up by just advertising your decks, imagine what they'll cost you once the game comes out in full swing!!

Then there is the Maraqua food and pets. Since the underwater world has disappeared all the items are no longer being made. So the only ones left will be what Neopians already own. These have already started to go up in price and more and more are disappearing everyday with NeoPets gobbling them up and tossing them out all the time. But hang on to them just a little longer and you should see a price increase for them.

Furniture is also a good bet. The NeoHomes are already out, but once there is more you can do with them, such as NeoPet's current idea of making parties available, you should find more and more NeoHome owners will be searching for the perfect pieces of furniture to furnish their homes in. Everything from the funky to the elegant.

Lastly, Halloween foods and Snow items will be popular this season. Last year Halloween items had just come out and they were all the rage. This will mark the very first winter that the Snow items will be available and they should be more popular than ever. The Halloween things will be popular around the Halloween season since everyone is in a more festive mood and stocking up on tasty Halloween treats to feed their pets.

Decreasing in Value
Right now PetPet Paint Brushes are in high demand and everyone wants one, but they have just come out and are at the height of their sales. If you just hold out a little longer, you can get one of these brushes for yourself, and save yourself some Neopoint while your at it.

Also, with the winter season coming around, Desert and Island items will be decreasing since the focus will be on Snow and Halloween items. I would suggest selling them now when you can probably get the most Neopoint for them.

And, while you might not have noticed, the cost of Codestones and Faeries have been slowly decreasing. Since the Battledome has not been as popular, the need for Faeries and Codestones have not been as great. The Battledome isn't as busy as usual because of most of the new features coming out. Everyone has been checking them out. But, with NeoPets reaching the 29 million NeoPets point, you can be sure more and more NeoPets will be getting back into the Battledome. They might be decreasing now, but expect to see them rise again in value once things get settled again.

Best Bets
With the increase in of popularity of NeoGarden plants soon to come, you can bet that the Star Shaped Tree, as well as the Heart Fruit Tree will sky rocket in price. You can get them now for 200 (for the Heart Fruit Tree) and 3,000 (for the Star Shaped Tree). Also any black playing cards are good to collect. They are the rarest of the cards and most expensive, but you can be sure to see them go up in value as soon as the game comes out and the cards are in more demand. Lastly, full furniture sets are a good investment. If the NeoParties come out, Neopians will want NeoHomes to be furnished in mostly matching furniture so shops selling full sets should get a lot of business.

Still in doubt? Well, only time will tell, but just think... a few months ago a Candy Cane would cost you about 10-12 NP... now it'll cost you at least 200 or so NPs on the Wizard.
