Feng Shui: Using it to get ahead on Neopets
Surely you have heard of Feng shui before. It is an ancient method of arranging
furniture and decreasing clutter in a way that encourages healthy energy flow
throughout your Neohome and your account in general. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know
you probably think I am a nutter, but follow these two simple steps, and watch
as your pets' stress levels go down. Watch as your Neopian life takes a one
hundred and eighty degree turn in the right direction. I have devised a way
to take the basic principles of the ancient tradition feng shui, and use them
in a Neopets related way to get ahead of the pack. Using feng shui will enable
you to relax a bit more and just enjoy the wonderful game of Neopets. After
all, it is just a game, right? Ha, right. What a bunch of baloney, I know.
Step One: Separate items that you love from all that junk -- Fill your Neohome
with items that are both as cherished as well as they are useful. In other words,
get rid of all of your items except for the ones that you 1) absolutely can
not live with out and, 2) items that are worth a ton of NP and can be used to
show off with. By surrounding your pets with items that they love, you provide
them with a joyful, happy, and nurturing environment. However, there is such
a thing as too much of a good thing. Yes, the complete set of Usukicon posters
hanging in your pet's bedroom may mean a lot to you sentimentally, but they
are really just hindering the flow of energy in your Neohome. Those posters
belong in a gallery, or your Safety Deposit Box, not duct-taped above your pet's
bed. Sometimes we can become too attached to items that are really of no use
to us. Why hold on to the ripped remains of Plushie Chia your pet played with
one too many times? Yes, that Chia Plushie might have had some sentimental value
to you, but truthfully it is just junk now. Discard the item. Seriously, just
get rid of it. Trust me, it will end up being a strangely liberating experience.
Step Two: Use the Pa Kua to direct the flow of chi -- "Use the whatta to…
huh?" The Pa Kua is a feng sui tool that helps channel the flow of chi. Chi
is the invisible energy that flows through all things. It flows through your
account and, more importantly, your Neohome. Chi enters from the windows and
doors and circulates throughout all the rooms of your Neohome. The Pa Kua is
shaped like an octagon, and divides each room into the eight sections (South,
Southwest, West, Northwest, North, Northeast, East, and Southeast) listed below.
If there is a certain area of your Neopets life that needs a boost, the organization
of that sector of the rooms in your Neohome can resolve the problem in a snap.
Here are the eight sections of a room, and how they affect your Neopets lifestyle:
a) South: Recognition and Fame. This part of your Neohome is represented by
the color red. It is the southern facing area of your rooms, and clutter in
this area of the room can lead to a drop in your popularity. Clean this area
out, and perhaps you will receive some recognition (possibly in a way that involves
Neopoints. See letter h).
b) Southwest: Romantic Happiness. Represented by the color yellow, clutter
in the southwest facing area of a room can put your pets' love lives on the
rocks. I will also prevent new relationships from forming.
c) West: Petpets. Does your petpet keep whistling at you? Is it stubborn,
and is it refusing to talk to your pet? Well, unless you have a pet rock, clutter
in the west facing areas of your rooms is inhibiting your pet's relationship
with its petpet. This area of the Pa Kua is represented by metallic colors such
as gold and silver.
d) Northwest: Neofriends. Also represented by metallic colors, clutter in
the northwest facing area of a room can shut down support from all your Neofriends.
So if you want your Neofriends to vote for your pet in the Beauty Contest, I
suggest you declutter this area of your rooms immediately.
e) North: Career Prospects. Having trouble finding work at the Employment
Agency? Are you continually failing Faerie Quests? Does Jhudora try to zap you
when you come by for a quest? Well, I don't blame her. The North facing areas
of the rooms in your Neohome must be very cluttered. On the Pa Kua, Career Prospects
are represented by the color blue.
f) Northeast: Education and Knowledge. Represented by the color beige, the
clutter in this area of the room is probably why you are not a member of the
Neopian Book Club. Dim-witted pets, have no fear; the northeast facing area
of your room you must clear.
g) East: Family and Health. This sector of a room is represented by the colors
green and brown. Conflicts between brothers and sisters can be resolved with
the decluttering of the east facing area of a room.
h) Southeast: Neopoints. It is everyone's dream: to reach "Ultimate Riches!"
status at the Neopian National Bank. But, alas, this cannot be done if the southeastern
facing area of your room is cluttered.
Once you have followed these two simple steps, sit back and enjoy your clutter-free
account (well, except for all the junk items in your Safety Deposit box you
are collecting for the Pack Rat Avatar). If nothing in your Neopets life changes,
forget I ever said anything. But if you find a Mystery Island Paint Brush lying
on the ground tomorrow, you will know who to thank (me, of course!). And if
you would like to give me a thank you gift… Well, let's just say we would not
want that paint brush cluttering up your account, now would we?
