The Darkest Faerie's Legend

by cruzerchic123

"Wow! Look at that neat Ramosan!" Shili pointed out as she pointed to the eel-like creature. She screamed as the Ramosan suddenly glowed.

Her friend Koler laughed. "I bet it likes you, Shili!" the Blue Kacheek said, giggling at the embarrassed Purple Shoyru. "Wait, are you sure Ramosan live here?"

"Come on, guys!" Faerie Usul Patricia called, rolling her eyes. "There's a reason why we went here; so we can get outta here!"

You see, their teacher Mrs. Sanna the Shadow Kougra had told them earlier about a field trip they were having to the legendary Maraqua. No doubt that Maraqua was still in its ancient ruins, where the Seaslug guarded the main entrances to Maraqua. Now it was open to several tourists, unless they should venture deeper in the deep.

Just then the Spotted Koi Fai bumped into Patricia. Patricia made a big show of embarrassing the newbie by making a big show of how Fai bumped into her. Shili rolled her eyes. She admitted that she didn't like the bullies at Neoschool that much, but then Patricia was considered a bully.

Fai however was a Koi newcomer to Shili's class. She had no friends, was usually quiet and was picked on all the time. Shili and Koler sometimes wished they could help Fai, but she seemed to avoid them every time.

"Omigosh!" Patricia screamed as she saw a Jetsam devour a Petito from the glass dome they traveled in. "That is sooo sick! No table linen?"

"At least he may have got the avatar," Koler whispered to Shili jokingly as they headed for the room they were assigned to eat in.

At the lunchroom Patricia sat next to Shili and Koler. Although she was a bully, mostly the bullies in her Neoschool were boys, so she had to deal with Shili and Koler instead (to her displeasure).

"I can't believe this stupid Maraquan ruins!" Patricia whined. "The pets look weird and the Seaslug is disgusting! How can anyone stand this place?!"

"Well, I can," Koler said stoutly. "I like this place! It's cool!"

"And you aren't," Patricia hissed. That made Koler a bit steamed.

Shili sighed and knew they could argue for hours. She suddenly turned her attention to Fai, who was sitting alone and holding something. Neocards, perhaps? Shili thought as she turned her attention to the Spotted Koi.

Nah, not Neocards. Wait a minute, TCGs?! Shili marveled at the cards Fai held in her fins. The Legendary Fire Shoyru, Zombie Moltenore, Neopet v2 and much more, the kind of cards Shili wished to have but can never afford!

"Nice!" Shili said, walking over to Fai. "How did you get those cards?"

Fai jumped and looked at Shili, startled. Then she replied, "I earn my keep so I can get these special cards. But I usually play wise and get the small cards like Snowbunny and Red Shoyru first, then I sell them to make some profits to buy these. Hey, do you want one of my Faerie Pancakes? The TCG, that is?"

"Do I ever," the Purple Shoyru squealed as she snatched the card from Fai’s fin. She hugged the card close. "Aren't we gonna start a long way, isn't that right, my lil' Faerie Pancakes?" she cooed, then blushed when she heard Fai stiffen a giggle, then groaned as Patricia flew over to the table.

"What do you have there, freak?" Patricia suddenly said, snatching a Dark Faerie Token from Fai's hands. "Oh, these stupid things? Pah!"

"They're called TCGs, Patricia, and, omigosh, is that The Three?!" Koler cried as she stared at the cards in Fai's hands.

Suddenly a small crowd began to surround Fai. Fai decided to change the subject with her new friends (or fans?). "Has any of you seen that statue in Maraqua?"

Patricia snorted. "It's sooo stupid!" she snapped. "A Dark Faerie Statue, right. As though my day couldn't be worse. What is up with you and that stupid statue?"

Fai went pale. "Don't do that!" Fai said. "She will come for you if you insult her!"

"Oh, now you tell us stupid freaky stories." The Faerie Usul clasped her hands to her mouth. "Oooh, I'm so scared," she mocked. "What is it gonna do, turn me to stone?"

Fai suddenly slapped the Faerie Usul across the face, annoyed. Everyone gasped. Nobody, not anybody, would dare slap Patricia the Faerie Usul across the face.

"I fear for you, Patricia," the Spotted Koi snapped. She picked up some TCGs, stacked them in a pile, and laid them out on the table. "I will tell you a story that would make sense to Maraqua, so you may understand."

"That little jerk," Patricia hissed. "She's gonna pay big time Borovan!"

"Shush," Shili said to the stunned bully. "Fai always gets A's in her stories, so I'll bet you this will be worthwhile."

Patricia smiled. "Maybe I can, oh, jack her story," she said, then groaned as Mrs. Sanna strolled over to Fai's table.

"Mrs. Sanna, Fai slapped me in the face!" Patricia called, then muttered as Mrs. Sanna sat down to listen to Fai's story.

Fai flipped the cards face down. "Long ago," Fai said, "when Maraqua was still in it's ruins, Fyora and the other Faeries happily lived on Faerieland, only pesky Dark Faeries bothering her." Fai suddenly flipped over "Fyora the Faerie Queen" and "Dark Faerie Sisters", then pushed them up into the middle of the table. The crowd stared, and Patricia yawned.

"Boring," she toned, but Fai ignored her and pushed another card onto the table.

"Patricia," she told the Faerie Usul, "who is the Darkest Faerie ever in Neopia?"

"That's sooo a n00by question!" she retorted, rolling her eyes. "Jhudora, DUH!"

"Tell us anyway if she's wrong or right," Koler advised the Spotted Koi. Fai shrugged and flipped over the not yet flipped card "Jhudora".

"But," the Koi said, turning her head to everyone, "She wasn't."

"My, my, how so?" Mrs. Sanna marveled, her Kougra tail swishing. "How so, dear Fai?"

"There was a Darker Faerie," Fai said, pushing a card in front of her again. "One so destructive she threatened to take over Neopia. One so evil, so vain, so cruel and vile and deadly that even Jhudora feared her most!"

The crowd gasped. Surely no one can make Jhudora quake in her wings. Several muttered Fai was Weewoo, but suddenly Fai snapped. As the crowd's attention turned to the Spotted Koi, Shili and Koler gasped as Fai flipped "The Darkest Faerie".

"I wasn't Weewoo," she said as she flipped "Jhudora" face down and returned her back to the row of unturned cards, while Shili noticed her switching "Jhudora" to another face down card, and putting "The Darkest Faerie" in the place where "Jhudora" was once there. "She is the most evilest Faerie that Neopia can ever describe, so evil that she isn't even in the Neopedia! She even threatened to banish Fyora and become the next Faerie Queen!"

"Fyora has no choice but to banish The Darkest Faerie from Faerieland, for her magic was far too weak to banish her from Neopia." Fai moved "Fyora the Faerie Queen" closer to "The Darkest Faerie". "She used Jerdana's Orb" - Fai flipped over "Jerdana's Orb" - to banish her 1,000 Years away, as it says in thou's description, 'Fyora stole one thousand years from me, and that was about what it took for me to plan my revenge.' Fyora then turned her into stone, and imprisoned her in Maraqua, deep below the ruins..." Fai finished and looked up to see faces of her classmates, her teacher, even Patricia's turn pale.

"Whoa!" Shili said. "That was awesome! And creepier yet, it's real!"

"Sublime!" Koler said as she patted the Koi on the back. "You're an awesome storyteller, AND you used TCG cards to tell it! I would give you an A++++++," The crowd laughed as the Blue Kacheek continued counting her plusses, while the Purple Shoyru joined in with her friend.

Patricia, however, was staring out at a speck, the statue of Maraqua. "Wow, so it must be true," she muttered.

"Tell another one!" she suddenly cried, chanting it at Fai. The others joined in, and soon even Mrs. Sanna was chanting as well. Fai smiled as she shuffled the cards, then drew out "Fire Shoyru" and "Moltenore".

"You've heard of the five Guardians of the Volcano, right?" she said. "Well, let me tell you, that strange Moltenore that rises from the Volcano is not a Moltenore; the Moltenore guards the inside of the burning mountain, while a certain Shoyru makes the Volcano erupt..."

She continued on, unaware of the Statue of Maraqua that slowly shifted in the deep.

- THE END -

Author's Note: Okay, we're not sure if that statue of Maraqua IS the Darkest Faerie, but it's most likely that it is. Fai, Shili, Patricia, Mrs. Sanna are made-up characters for the story, and Koler (a.k.a. Koler_Queen) is used with permission by sharkzark. Fai sort of reminds me, of, well, me! Oh, yeah, Felicia deserves a vacation for her hard work. See ya!
