Noils, Gruslens, and Polarchucks: A Petpet Trio by charmedhorses | |
NEOPIA - Noils, Gruslens and Polarchucks, are three of the most charming petpets
to have graced Neopia. I'm sure you've heard of them around the site, for each
is infamous on its own, but did you know that they are really a great group
of friends? Sure, they have their disagreements, but who doesn't? In the end
they're always there for each other and theirs' is a story worth telling.
The Happy Trio
The Noil, Gruslen, and Polarchuck make for quite a dynamic bunch. Each has
a unique personality and when the three are put together they tend to balance
each other out. Take, for example, the Noil. The official definition of the
Noil says, "A Noil is a fluffy, bouncy companion who will follow your Neopet
where he or she goes." The Noil is a fun loving petpet that is eager to
go bounding through the jungles of Mystery Island in search of all sorts of
exotic fruits. A Neopet will never get bored with this little guy.
Then there's the Gruslen… the given definition of the Gruslen is, "Gruslens
may appear to be cute and harmless but if you anger them you could be in for
a visit to the Neopian Hospital." Don't underestimate these cuties. For
all that they look like they wouldn't harm a Breeble, they're easily capable
of thrashing out. However, this is just a minor behavioral trait that can easily
be dealt with so long as your pet is not afraid of a challenge and can meet
the Gruslen attitude for attitude. Then you shouldn't have a problem.
The Polarchuck is by far the median between the Gruslen and Noil. This little
bundle of joy is described simply as, "A jolly, plump, chattery friend for
your pet." And really, who could want anything else? The Polarchuck is one
of my favorite petpets, and is a great friend to the Noil and Gruslen. You see,
the Noil and Gruslen often get competitive with one another, as can be expected
with two alpha petpets, and the Polarchuck is generally the one to step between
them and calm their fiery tempers.
When They Fight
Granted, it's not often, but the Polarchuck, Gruslen, and Noil do fight.
Their fights generally revolve around a disagreement between the Gruslen and
Noil, who often have disputes regarding who will be the leader of their next
adventure. However, on chance occasions the Polarchuck does start a squabble
when his favorite toy is taken.
So what do you do when your happy trio gets into a fight and fur is flying
all over your once-clean Neohome? Well, maybe that's a bit extreme. Normally
the fights don't get that exciting. Nevertheless, there can be some drama!
Here, why don't I give you an example. In this short skit pretend Nappy is
the Noil, Galo is the Gruslen and Parko is the Polarchuck. Alright, it's a beautiful
morning, the sun is shining bright and Nappy is eager to go on another escapade.
In fact, he is so eager that he just can't wait for Galo to wake up and
decides to do something about it. Nappy runs off and gathers a bucket of ice
cold water which he proceeds to dump over the sleeping Galo upon his return.
Galo wakes up with a start, dripping with water, and is none too happy to say
the least. In his state of anger, Galo tackles Nappy, who escapes and goes running
around the Neohome. Parko hears the commotion and emerges from his room to find
Galo chasing Nappy.
Let me interrupt for a moment. You should know that Parko the Polarchuck is
quite used to this morning routine and usually serves as the Neofamily mediator.
Okay, back to the story. Parko sees this and knows what he has to do. He steps
in between Nappy and Galo, who has almost gotten hold of Nappy's tail, the next
time they come around. Nappy runs to his bedroom and hides under the bed, while
Galo screeches to a halt in front of the Polarchuck. With that Parko gives them
the usual speech about how Nappy should not have drowned Galo in water so early
in the morning and how Galo really shouldn't have tackled the Noil. The two
hang their heads guiltily, forgive one another, and go off on the adventure
Nappy was so excited about.
So you see, while they may get into tussles quite frequently, they last no
longer than it takes them to start and when all is said and done they forgive
each other and move on just as quickly. Such is the nature of most Neofamilies.
Living Arrangements
Noils, Gruslens, and Polarchucks aren't too particular about where they stay
so long as they are near one another and content. However, near one another
doesn't mean in the same room. Putting all three in one room is a disaster waiting
to happen if you ask me. While the three love each other more than anything
else in Neopia, they cannot stand each other as roommates. Put together in one
room they equal loads of trouble not to mention loads of squabbles. So, simply
stated, don't keep them all together in one bedroom.
Although they don't want to be in the same room, they do want to be close by,
as I said earlier, so the easiest solution is to house them with their Neopet.
And if their Neopets are in neighboring rooms that's an added plus. This way
the little guys won't get into as much trouble but will still be able to see
each other as often as they like.
The Perfect Companions
While individually the Noil, Gruslen and Polarchuck are each wonderful petpets,
together they are an even more enticing group. Granted, they are not for the
weak of heart-they need pets that can keep them under control and still have
fun with them.
All in all they are perfect for a similar trio of Neopets. The Noil wants someone
who's adventurous, the Gruslen someone who's up for a battle, and the Polarchuck
simply wants someone to love him. They don't ask for much, just to stay together
and have fun.
Author's Note: I was really excited to write another article regarding petpets
and am very pleased with how this one came out! I love the topic and hope you
enjoy it as much as its predecessors.
