Not Another School Story

by potatorewkiki

She was stubborn and sarcastic. She was evil and intelligent. She was nasty and uncaring. And she still is.

     Of course, Blue LIKED being like that. She took pride in her selfish, unappreciative attitude as if it were a x100 Neopian Times trophy in her cabinet.

     But everyone could tell that there was something different about Blue. She wasn't just a simple playground bully. She wasn't just a shadow Gelert hunting for trouble everywhere she came across. She had the potential to do well in a lot of school subjects, activities, and such. She had an uncanny ability to know and be good at pretty much anything. Unfortunately, there was a catch: she didn't care.

     She never cared. She didn't take advantage of what she could do; as she simply did what she wished. She just wanted someone to notice her as more than a goofy little pet who was quite clever. Evil trapped her mind with adventurous thoughts of war, world domination, and outrage. She grinned at the mentioning of those subjects, her mind twisting and turning with new plans and ideas. Blue was merely underestimated, even by her own inner self. So she had to try something new.

     She leaned her head on a desk and looked up to the detention supervisor. The exhausted spotted Chia was sound asleep, as with all of the twelve students, other than Blue, attending detention. Blue smiled evilly, showing her glistening white teeth as she took a quick look out of the nearest window at the afternoon destination: the school playground. She had to get out of the classroom, and fast.

     She slowly and quietly gathered her two notebooks and scattered pencils and shoved them into her backpack. Carefully zippering it up to ensure no sound was made and that the supervisor would remain in the depths of 'La-La Land', Blue let out a soft sigh, and pulled the bag onto her back.

     She tiptoed across the room to the door, and silently inched the door open just enough so she could squeeze through and enter the deserted hallway. Blue stopped and tried to recall her plan to get by the principal's office. Mr. Tole was a skunk Jetsam who knew Blue as 'the menace'. He had had all too much of her that beginning fraction of the school year and intended to have her suspended if she arouse any more trouble. But did Blue listen to his threats? No, she ignored everyone, whatsoever, or so it seemed. Some thought she just ACTED like she ignored it to seem tough. But that theory has been proved wrong, as she later admitted herself as an ignorant menace, just as Mr. Tole thought she was.

     Blue passed her locker and grinned; as if to remind herself that she was close to the doors. But striding around a turn, Blue bumped into her friend's teacher, Mr. Bailey.

     "Hello, Blue! Might I ask what you are doing around here after school has ended? Aren't you supposed to be in detention?" the Robot Kiko questioned, curiously.

     "Are you getting suspicious of my whereabouts, Mr. Bailey?" Blue asked him, ignoring the fact that she was supposed to answer his question before asking one of her own.

     "No, well, yes, Blue. You haven't been very trustworthy lately; Mr. Bennett, Ms. Clayton, and Ms. Joholly have warned me to keep my eye out for you. What are you doing, anyway?" he demanded.

     "Going to the bathroom," Blue spat out. She was an open-minded quick-thinker, and to a pet like her, those skills were some of her few that ever come in handy.

     "With your BACKPACK?!" Mr. Bailey asked, showing his suspicion.

     "Umm…" Blue moaned, biting her lip. She was caught in the act. It's happened before, but this wasn't the right place for her to be at the moment. She remembered Mr. Tole's exact words from the conversation they last spoke together in: 'Listen - You'd better be on your best behaviour for the next few weeks… Or else.'

     "Let's go see Mr. Tole…" suggested Mr. Bailey. Blue gulped. Just what she wanted. 'Here comes the menace, Mr. Tole!' she thought, while trying to put together some ideas of persuading the principal into letting her go. If she aced English 'cause of her amazing skills in writing persuasive essays… Then this should be a synch for her!

     But she underestimated the principal. He sat with his flipper on his forehead and a distressed look on his face. Mr. Bailey led Blue into the room, and explained briefly her reason for being there.

     "Blue snuck out of detention."

     "Oh, really… Blue? Take a seat, if you would," Mr. Tole instructed, and then he turned to Mr. Bailey, "You can go now." The teacher nodded quickly and hurriedly scampered out of the room.

     "Blue, I told you be-"

     "Yeah, I know, but listen: I HATE DETENTION! I didn't even do it!" Blue protested. The principal's eyes widened when he heard her talk about being innocent. He smirked and shook his head in disgust.

     "I can never trust you, Blue. What did you do, anyway?"

     "But I swear, I didn't do it!"

     "Do WHAT?"

     "I didn't write the words 'Criminal versus Menace' on the walls of Mr. Bennett's classroom! If you let me out of this mess, I'll find out who did it!" Blue offered. Little did Mr. Tole know that Blue was actually telling the truth.

     "Do you have any idea who did it? I suspected you because of the presence of the word 'menace' on there… But after all, I could most likely be wrong."

     "You don't know how very wrong you are…" Blue muttered.

     "What???" Mr. Tole asked.

     "Nothing…" Blue corrected, grinning.

     "Okay, no suspension, but you REALLY have to work hard on this, okay?" Mr. Tole reminded her. She nodded proudly, left the room, and walked home.

     On the way, Blue wondered who was in Mr. Bennett's class that stayed in for recess. Her sister, Angel, was staying in with him, and Blue tried to recall who else, her sister mentioned, had to keep inside for recess.

     "Myra!" she burst out, "It's that little creep!" Myra was a mysterious Darigan Moehog with an attitude worse than Blue's. At least the Gelert has made positive comments every once in a while…

     So it must have been Myra. That deed was Myra_Moehog material all the way! Permanent, foul-smelling spray paint… She must have used 'criminal' as to refer to herself! Blue grinned. Myra…

     A long time ago, when they were both younger, Myra and Blue used to hang around with each other. But Myra made a huge mistake by teaching Blue the tricks and showing the amateur Gelert the necessary equipment for various schemes. Blue was too clever and made new ideas of Myra's work. They've been enemies since then.

     But Blue then wondered who the third one in for recess was…

~~~~~~
"Angel?" Blue asked, as she pushed her sister's bedroom door open. Her room was Jeran themed. Blue hated Jeran, and couldn't understand why all of the other girls adored him.
     "Yes?" the red Shoyru replied, in a high, pretty tone. She had on a long sleeved white shirt saying 'All Hail Mighty Plushieowner!' on it that Blue looked despicably at and long jean skirt.
     "Plushieowner, peh…" Blue mumbled, and continued on with her question, "Who stayed in for recess today with you?"
     "Myra, and some new baby Uni, umm, Kelsey! Yup, that's it!" Angel replied, using the same cute little tone that disgusted her older sister, "Why?"
     "One of them drew the words 'Criminal versus Menace' on Mr. Bennett's classroom walls. And Mr. Tole thinks it's me! I betcha anything it's Myra. I'll tell Mr. Tole tomorrow. Thank for the info, Angel!" Blue told her, and dashed into her bedroom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Mr. Tole?" as Blue knocked on the principal's office door politely in the morning. She heard a little movement in the room. Then the door opened slightly.

     "Ah, Blue, please, come in." Blue entered the room and motioned to sit down in the chair closest to the window, but saw someone was already sitting there.

     "Ugh, Blue…" moaned Myra. Blue shook her head a couple of times to relieve herself, and sat down in the chair next to Myra, who slouched and had a bored look on her face. The Gelert stuck her tongue out at Myra.

     "Blue, eh, did you find any info?"

     "Yup. Mr. Bennett brought in Angel, Myra, and Kelsey for recess at the time of the spray painting." Blue told him, as Myra chuckled under her breath. Blue glared at her.

     "Angel… Your sister, I believe?" Mr. Told questioned her.

     "Sadly…" Blue admitted.

     "Ah… And Kelsey is that baby Uni. She didn't do it. She couldn't have," the principal declared, and then he looked at his big suspect, infuriated. Myra dropped her mouth in awe.

     "WHAT?! You think I did it? You know very well that I'm allergic to that spray paint, Mr. Tole!"

     "But how do I know you didn't just use that so you'd have a good excuse for NOT doing it?" Mr. Told asked her, calmly.

     "I was showing Angel a Lost Desert Dagger that I, erm, found in the marketplace a couple of days ago! Gah…" Myra moaned. Blue looked at Myra, trying to convince herself not to believe the Darigan Moehog. But Blue couldn't deny it. She could tell - Myra was telling the truth. But if so, it also meant her sister was innocent. The two pets must have had mutual thoughts.

     "Kelsey…" they blurted out together.

     "Kelsey? But she's a mere baby Uni!" Mr. Tole protested.

     "Or maybe that's just what she wants you to think. Listen… Blue's right on track. So you don't trust me or her -- I betcha anything if you ask Angel she'll say exactly what I said." Myra said, solemnly. Mr. Tole shared her expression. He turned to Blue. "Go get your sister. I don't care what she's in the middle of -- important or not -- it'll have to wait," he instructed.

     "Okay," Blue agreed, nodding nervously, and she quickly ran down the hall to Mr. Bennett's classroom.

     "Well, good morning, Blue! If it isn't our other school troublemaker… Excuse me, class," the electric Bruce questioned, politely, and motioned for Blue to ask her question.

     "Eh, the principal wants Angel…"

     "Really? Off you go!" Mr. Bennett said, and the little Shoyru was finally dismissed. Ah! The horror for Blue, seeing her sister in school. They headed back silently.

     "Listen -- troublemaking is MY turf, stay away, or ELSE, little miss perfect!" Blue snapped.

     "Ooh, is that a THREAT?" Angel barked back at her.

     "Just could be…" Blue answered.

     "Grr…" Angel growled. Blue and Angel entered the principal's office within a matter of seconds, both pets being agitated and thinking of little random insults they just wished to actually shout out at each other.

     "Angel, pull up that chair next to the wall, if you would," Mr. Tole instructed.

     Angel did so and let out a huge breath as she took her seat.

     "Myra, here, has told me that during recess she showing you a Lost Desert Dagger that she found. Is that so?" he questioned.

     "Y-yeah. It is. If you're pointing this at me or her, I swear, we are innocent! It was ALL Kelsey's fault!" Angel protested in her irresistible voice.

     "You're stuttering," Mr. Tole informed her.

     "Heh, yeah. It was Kelsey. Want me to go-"

     "Do so right now, Angel," he demanded. Angel gulped and hesitantly nodded, as she rushed out the door into the hallway; only to return a minute or so later with Kelsey.

     She was a very small little pet. Her petite wings could flutter like crazy and one might not even notice they'd moved. Her pink coat glistened in the midday sun as is shined through the office window and her iridescent white mane was long and elegant. Kelsey had a determined smile on her face, making Blue nervous.

     "I DIDN'T DO IT!" exclaimed the Uni immediately. Angel and the principal merely raised their eyebrows and blinked. Myra and Blue rolled their eyes.

     "Oh my gosh, what a liar!" Myra muttered into Blue's right ear. Blue responded with numerous nods.

     "Kelsey, calm down. We don't think it's you. But do you have any proof that Myra or Blue did it?" Mr. Tole asked her. Myra and Blue dropped their mouths in awe. Angel smirked.

     "It was Myra. Y'know why? She left her locker open this morning… You might want to see what's in there," Kelsey pointed out. Mr. Tole stood up and headed out of the door, motioning for Kelsey, Myra, Blue and Angel to follow him. They headed down the hallway to a locker close to the detention room. Kelsey pointed inside.

     "It's a can of purple spray paint. Even look on the side! It has a little splatter of it's own paint on it, meaning it has been used before!"

     "Really…" Mr. Tole commented suspiciously, and his eyes then shot straight at Myra.

     "MR. TOLE! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! I DID NOT DO IT! SHE DID!" Myra shouted. Her anger seemed to have shook the whole building, or at least the lockers, as the can soon fell out of the small shelf at the very top of the locker. It rolled to Blue's feet and the Gelert picked it up to examine the spray paint.

     "Can I have this?" she asked the principal.

     "Sure, whatever," he told her, "Why don't you go and put it in your backpack. Angel, you can leave now. You're okay." Blue glared at Angel as the Shoyru walked away, proudly wearing a smile on her face. The Shadow Gelert, on the other hand, put the spray paint in her backpack and returned to the office where the others had gone without giving her notice. She sat back down in a chair with a distressed look on her face.

     She hated Myra. Nothing could ever bring the two rivals together. But she couldn't help but to admit that Myra was innocent. If Mr. Tole wouldn't believe that Kelsey did it, then Blue had just the plan. Phase one would start that day at recess. She only hoped that Myra would be outside that day.

~~~~~~
Blue's eyes searched the school playground. Her ears were pricked up and alert, listening for Myra's low, quiet sounds.
     "Looking for someone, Blue?" a voice called from behind Blue. The Gelert spun around and there stood Blue. The Gelert grinned and Myra rolled her eyes.
     "Tell me what you want! Talking to you is a waste of my valuable time!" she barked at Blue. Blue raised her eyebrows.
     "What do you say about pulling one big prank?" Blue questioned.
     "On whom, may I ask?" Myra asked her, getting interesting in the idea. Blue smiled evilly.
     "My little sister. Angel," she declared.
     "I'm up for it! So, what's the plan? Clue me in on this, Blue!" Myra asked her, sounding very excited.
     "Angel did it," Blue told her.
     "Huh?"
     "You see, THAT is what we need to convince Tole. Little Miss Perfect is gonna have a lot on her hands, when we're done."
     "Oh yeah!" Myra agreed. "Let's get started!"
~~~~~~

"BLUE!" Angel exclaimed in rage in the hallway that afternoon, when the pets were gathering stuff from their lockers.

     "What?" Blue asked.

     "Why is there a can of purple spray paint in my locker?" she asked.

     "You know where Myra painted the lockers? Mr. Tole'll be there in a minute. He said he wanted it," Blue instructed.

     "Okay…" Angel muttered, shrugging. When the Shoyru wasn't looking, Blue turned around and signaled Myra, who had a full can of the purple spray paint in her hands. She ran over to the message 'Criminal versus Menace' on the lockers outside of Mr. Bennett's classroom and sprayed a new message under it: 'Ickle_Lil_Angel shall rule ALL!'. She grinned at her work and ran back to her locker, shoving the half-empty spray bottle in her backpack. Myra gave Blue a thumbs up sign and waited for Angel to pass with the spray paint can. Then the Darigan Moehog quickly dashed to the principal's office, and told the principal to follow him to Mr. Bennett's classroom, saying that Mr. Bennett wanted to see him. They took a curve and saw Mr. Bennett's classroom straight ahead.

     Blue peeked around the corner.

     "Angel!" Mr. Tole screamed in rage, as he saw the Shoyru examining the two messages sprayed on the lockers.

     "What?" she asked, not realizing what was going on.

     "Give me the spray can, and go to my office IMMEDIATELY. I will be there momentarily," he instructed, and then turned to Myra, "Tell Mr. Bennett I will meet with him shortly. Myra tried to keep herself from laughing her head off by simply nodding until he was out of earshot.

     The two troublemakers began to laugh really hard. Then, all of a sudden, Blue stopped.

     "I hate you, Myra," she informed the Moehog. Myra's face instantly turned serious like Blue's.

     "I hate you even more," she spat back, "I'd best be off. So long, LOSER!!!"
