The Powers of Restocking

by carnapepper

SHOPS - We've all heard people talk about restocking and how it's gotten them millions and millions of dollars. So of course, our ears perk up. But what is restocking anyway? How does one become a successful restocker? This guide will explain all the infinite powers of restocking!

Basically, restocking and getting good at restocking takes place in steps. There are generally about five easy steps, but if you get the hang of it, it can be even less! Firstly though, you need your own shop. Level one or two is fine for now, but you may want to expand it later. Also, some basic terminology before we start. One, the main shops are the shops that are run by AI and stock themselves automatically every eight minutes or so. Examples: toy shop, food shop, etc. Next, your shop. That should be pretty easy to figure out. Click on shops in the yellow side bar, then click on Your Shop at the top banner. Three, "worth it items". "Worth it items" are items that you can buy in the main shops and sell for more in your store, therefore earning a profit. The worth it items are the main point of restocking so they're very important! Next and last is the Shop Wizard or the "Wiz". You can find this helpful little guy by clicking on shops in the yellow side bar, then on the little starry teepee on the top banner. As you get used to restocking, you will realize that the Shop Wizard is your very best friend! Okay, that's it for now!

Step One:
Step one is the easiest of all -- choosing a main shop to restock at! When you're just starting in the restocking business, you'll want to only restock at one shop, but as you gain more experience, you may decide to try two or three at once for variety. So for your decision, choose a shop that stocks items you either like, or are interested in. If you hate plushies, don't restock at the toy shop! Another thing to consider when choosing a main shop is traffic. Do you anticipate a ton of people crowding around the shop you want to restock in? If so, think about another, less popular one.

Step Two:
Now that you've chosen your main shop, open another window and go to the Shop Wizard in it. You'll be using the Wiz from now on to check the general price for an item. To get used to using the Shop Wizard, type in the name of any item. A list of users and their prices will come up. That's how much that user is selling the item for in their shop and that is the generally accepted price. You'll notice that there are usually some items left in the main shops when you go to them. The first thing to do is copy and paste the name of any of the left over items into the ship Wiz to check their price. If the lowest price on the Wiz is more than what the item is selling for in the main shop, it's a "worth it item". Remember that for later. Keep checking all the items in the shop and make note on which items are worth it.

Step Three:
Step three? Put on some music and relax. No, really. All you can do now is wait until the shop restocks. When it finally does, quickly check as many items as you can. You can usually tell which items are rare because the main shop only restocks one or two of them at a time. However, check all of the items and make those mental notes! If you have a poor memory, one way to remember the worth it items is to draw little pictures of them on a piece of paper and stick it next to your computer screen. That way you can just keep checking back and forth. It's your choice, though! If you still need some more time to check items, it's okay to wait a few restocks out, checking items each time, to get the hang of which items are worth it, which to ignore, etc.

Step Four:
Step four is much like step three, as it involves waiting, but it's when the action really gets started! This time, when the shop restocks, scroll down and check all the items. Then click on an item you know is worth it and haggle just under the asking price. Note: If you're still not sure and there's a lot of the item in stock, it doesn't hurt to check the Wiz one more time, just to be safe. Don't worry about how much money you have left or putting the items you buy in a safe place just yet. Just keep on grabbing the worth it items like there's no tomorrow! Because really, what have you got to lose? During the course of your mad grabbing rampage, be sure to refresh the shop a couple times by clicking on the shopkeeper. During a restock, items pop up bits at a time so one second, you could have one set of items, and if you refresh, five more could have appeared! If you see a super-rare item, go for it even if you know someone else will have grabbed it. It's happened to me countless times and I was one unexpected Hand-Painted Scarab the richer each time!

Step Five:
Alright, so what do you do after the wild rush is over and the shop has stopped restocking for the time being? Shove everything in your own shop, of course! Use quick stock for this job, as it's much easier and more efficient. You still have that window open with the Shop Wiz, right? Good. Go into your shop, copy and paste the name of a newly bought item into the Wiz, and price accordingly! Usually, I price the items in my shop 1 NP less than the lowest price on the Wiz to ensure a quick sell, but you can price however you like. Just remember that your selling price must be more than what you paid for the item in the main shop or else you're not making any profit! Once all your items are priced, hit submit and wait for the selling to begin! Popular items usually sell very quickly, but usually if you restock at night and check your till in the morning, a lot of your items will have been bought while you were asleep.

Step Six:
Okay, so I lied. There are actually six steps. Well, this one isn't much of a step. Step six is... repeat! Repeat as many times as you like. Just remember that you can only spend as much money as you have, so if you find you're getting low, sit back, play Pyramids a few times, and wait for the fresh merchandise in your shop to sell. Pyramids, as well as any other games you like, are also a good moneymaking way to pass the time in between main shop restocks. Just think... you're making money while waiting to make even more money! It's like a moneymaking extravaganza.

Hopefully this article provided you with some new information on the powers of restocking. You know what to do now... open up a window with the Shop Wiz and get restocking!
