The Forgotten Snow Faerie – Or is it the Misunderstood Snow Faerie? by starrybrite82 |  |
TERROR MOUNTAIN - Oh yes of course, everyone knows the Snow Faerie -- that wicked
witch sitting atop Terror Mountain in her little igloo snickering about her many
quest items. Many hate her for her cruelty in rewarding unfortunate little Neopians
so poorly. But there are the few that love the Snow Faerie for her generous gifts,
but hey -- how many of those people do you find? Through out The Neopian Times
you can find as many various articles, comics, and stories about the Snow Faerie
as opinions of her around Neopia. A few interviews there, a couple of humorous
drawings here, and some haters and worshippers of her, too. But how much can we
all actually say we know 100% about the Snow Faerie?
Most know her for her quests, others know her rewards, and a few know her
for her craziness in living atop Terror Mountain. But do people really know
about the Snow Faerie's life and personality? To start off, the Snow Faerie
does have a name believe it or not, it's Taelia. So she's not as mysterious
as you thought, eh? See, we're getting somewhere now. It's really not all that
hard to relate to the Taelia -- well, maybe not relate… more like recognize
in her. Anyway! Now to address the aspects of her.
We all know how mystifying Taelia is, right? Of course we do! She lives on
a mountain where there's a constant blizzard sun rise to sun set, not to mention
she lives right in the area of the Ski Lodge Murder Mystery! Not only is where
she lives odd and strange, the fact that no one has ever seen her leave her
home before is just baffling! But really, think about it, if you lived on Terror
Mountain in the never ending snow, would you really feel all that inspired to
jump up away from your fireplace to go build a snowman? Yeah, neither would
I! So you can't get all touchy about that!
As many of us Neopians have noticed, a large amount of the Faeries flaunt
their name, abilities, and utter fame through out Neopia. They make themselves
high and mighty by creating hundreds of items all about themselves, they make
games about themselves, and they overall show off! Do you see Taelia doing that?
Indeed you don't! She may have a few items about herself just to keep up, but
she's really looking humble compared to the other Neopian Faeries. To tell you
the truth, I find the other Faeries very annoying -- very self-centered and
full of themselves. I much rather be around a modest and meek Faerie such as
Taelia.
Taelia might not speak much either, but does she really need to say anything?
The other Faeries seem to do all the talking very well. It doesn't look like
Taelia is in the least looking for attention from Neopians. She genuinely acts
like she simply wants a few quest items for her spells in her happy mountain
home. Speaking of quests… maybe I should touch on that subject a little more.
Taelia may give awful rewards to certain pets, but how do you suppose she is
to get all those dark battle ducks?! I mean for Faerieland's sake! She lives
on a mountain! Do you really believe Taelia gets her quest items and uses them
to make quest rewards? Taelia obviously tries her best to give all Neopians
want she can. I think the way YOU should be thinking is more on the lines of
wanting to help this little Snow Faerie more than get lots of unbuyable items
for yourself. If you aren't thinking that way, don't do her quest!
So, is Taelia -- the Snow Faerie -- forgotten? Well I guess that depends on
your definition of forgotten. The dictionary has quite a few ideas of what forgotten
should mean, some being: "To be unable to remember (something), to treat with
thoughtless inattention; neglect, to leave behind unintentionally, and to fail
to mention." I don't really believe that Taelia sounds forgotten assuming those
definitions. But if you were to simply define forgotten as 'to overlook,' I
think that pertains to Taelia. But like I've said before, does it really look
like she minds not being in the spotlight 24/7? Taelia doesn't seem to be forgotten
at all, and if she was, she wouldn't even care! A few may forgot all about there
being a Snow Faerie, but there will be many who know she's there and do her
quests daily. There's nothing to worry about with this 'forgotten' Snow Faerie.
So you don't think that Taelia is forgotten, so what is she? Quite simply,
I think she's merely misunderstood. Many just look at her the wrong way. People
and pets alike piece together her oddities -- like her quests, living areas,
and general habits to form some sort of monstrous cretin! But looking into the
eyes of that Faerie, I don't see a single shimmer of evil. She's just misread.
Taelia is really just like all the other Faeries -- she's living her life day
by day in the ever-changing Neopia. Is it really all that bad if she's different?
I think that's what it boils down to -- she's different and people can't accept
that. But shouldn't we? Of course we should. Neopia wouldn't be Neopia with
out our very own lovely Snow Faerie.
On the whole, Taelia is simple and kind. She doesn't ask for much in the all
of Neopia, just a few quest items. She tries her best to reward pet and owners
alike, she's reticent, she's humble, and she's undemanding. I truly do believe
the other Faeries of Neopia should look to Taelia. She's a very good example
of what a Faerie should be. So to sum it all up, do you ask me if she forgotten?
Well, I think she could be just a little, but look at her, does she look upset?
No -- she does not at all. Maybe one would argue that our Snow Faerie isn't
even misunderstood -- but that's for you to decide. Maybe she's just different.

to get in! This article has gone through many changes -- I've written, rewritten,
and edited this text like crazy. Now I finally have it how I want it. So --
