GALLERY OF EVIL - As we learned from the first Falsely Accused article, many
creatures are falsely put in the Gallery of Evil (cover your ears to avoid hearing
the eerie music). While it may be hard to believe, Grundos are not the only
ones who are falsely accused (gasp). Yes, other creatures in Neopia are wonderfully
innocent other than the species of Grundos. Perhaps it’s time to shed light
on all these poor creatures somehow deemed to be “evil”.
Other than the Grundo, the Monocerous is perhaps one of the most innocent
creatures in the Gallery of Evil (*silence* ---pretty creepy, huh?). The Monocerous
is described to be evil because it is so fierce and scary looking, and that
they have a “terrifying bellow” that “paralyzes its victims”. It also mentions
that Jubjubs are immune to this roar.
Of course, one must wonder who these alleged victims are. If the a shy little
Jubjub isn’t bothered by a Monocerous, then one would think that anyone would
be okay around one. And a Neopian creature can’t help his physical appearance.
It’s not his fault he looks a bit scary. In fact, what makes him scary? Perhaps
we can only blame those who made a perfectly harmless creature out to be a fearsome
being that it isn’t.
Often misunderstood, the Swamp Ghoul also appears in the Gallery of
Evil . (No, there will be no more creepy sounds, shrieks or even silence…can’t
you see the pattern here, the Gallery of Evil *really* isn’t all that evil!)
The Swamp Ghoul is said to seek out those alone in the fog and take their items.
It is said that the smell of evilness is present with this creature and that
he finds his victims by the smell of loneliness.
I propose, that the Swamp Ghoul himself is not evil, but lonely. He finds his
so called victims by their loneliness hoping to befriend them. So, he occasionally
takes items, perhaps he is really taking them to try to fill the hole he has
caused from loneliness. Perhaps he is only looking for a friend, and the smell
of “evilness” is really just a big mistake, perhaps it is truly his own loneliness.
Of course, now that he is in this gallery, everyone believes he is evil, and
they stay away from him. This could not possibly help his lonely situation,
but makes it much worse. If he were just given the chance, he would be a friend
to all.
Of course, another important member of the falsely accused evil is the Ghost
Lupe. A very observant reader, goldenbird26k3, took the time to write and
share her own opinions on him,
“The description in the Gallery says ‘A once brave Lupe knight was killed on
the shores of Mystery Island in an attempt to rescue his bride from the natives...although
sometimes this wayward spirit may aid you, his anger can easily be directed
at those that disturb him... As with all the entries in this book we suggest
you steer very clear!’
I have never known the Ghost Lupe to be evil at all! Hey, I'd want revenge
if my bride... er... groom got killed by some natives! If anything, the Natives
who murdered his wife should be in the Gallery.”
That said, I must agree, the poor poor Ghost Lupe! Maybe it is time to these
Natives and leave the heartbroken Ghost Lupe alone!
Another non-evil but greatly misunderstood creature, the Lava Ghoul
appears in this Gallery of Evil. (No really, I told you before, no more scary
noises and eerie sounds…really truly!) In the gallery, it is said that the Lava
Ghoul devours food and items with its hot lava breath.
Did anyone bother to find out if this was intentional? What if the Lava Ghoul
is accidentally devouring these things? It’s not his fault he has lava breath!
He is just an unfortunate creature who unwillingly devours things in his path,
simply because he ran into bad luck and is made up of lava. How sad for him!
Like the Grundos, the Rock Beast is another falsely accused member of
the Gallery of Evil. Dr. Sloth summoned the Rock Beast to attack Neopia. The
Rock Beast, being as strong as he is, is capable of doing so and is very hard,
if not impossible, to destroy.
When examining this creature, it is first important to remember that he is
under the influence of the Evil Dr. Sloth! That alone should be all that needs
to be said, but of course we must look further in to things. It is not the Rock
Beast’s fault that he is indestructible. This does not make him evil, but it
makes Dr. Sloth evil for using him in such a way. In fact, I am sure the Rock
Beast could do great things as well, if only he were freed from this evil Sloth!
Instead of calling him evil, we need to band together and help him!
In some cases, a pet will appear in the Gallery of Evil when there is no real
explanation as to why. In the gallery, it is said that the Shadow Usul
“only appears at night, and has mainly been spotted in and around Neopia Central.
What her motives are we have no idea, but we suggest you keep your wits about
you.
Honestly, what are these people thinking who put her there? It is Obvious that
the Shadow Usul simply likes to be out and about at night. Since when has going
to Neopia Central been a crime? There is no curfew in Neopia! This poor Usual
goes around a public area of Neopia, later in the evening, and she is declared
evil! Perhaps she likes evening strolls before bed, or perhaps she couldn’t
sleep… but evil? I think not!
Going through some more of these falsely accused, I believe it is time we do
something! If we quit regarding these innocent creatures as evil, perhaps all
of our lives in Neopia could be better. We could take the fear out of Neopia
and help these poor creatures who are living a life of misery, saddened that
they are accused of evilness…*wrongly* accused!
So, the moral here… The Gallery of Evil isn’t so scary, afterall, it consists
mostly of innocent creatures wrongly accused! Oh and Grundos are still awesome!
