The Codestone's Awakening: Part Two

by apparent

After the codestone fell from the summer sky, which was probably something that would occur once every million years, Jyrosen used the palms of his paws to rub his eyes. It was unbelievable -- how did the codestone fall from the sky when the three siblings disposed of it on a cliff's edge? While Jyrosen sat completely bewildered, his jaw ajar, Krawker picked up the small stone and began to prance happily around the yard.

"I knew we wouldn't lose this forever! Yay! Now we'll be rich and have tons and tons of toys and an in ground pool and-"

"Wait," Saigru frowned, interrupting his brother's squeals of glee. The situation didn't seem right at all, and as much as he wanted to use the codestone for any purpose on Neopia, he wasn't sure that everything was safe. "Realistically, Krawker. What is the chance of us finding the stone again? To top it off, we threw it off of a cliff's edge, where it probably shattered into tiny pieces. This isn't at all possible."

The dancing Krawk stopped his rejoicing at his brother's choice of words, and then slowly looked towards the stone that he held within his hand. It was true, the last place he'd expect to find the stone again would be out of the sky, and everything didn't seem to fit together at all.

"I guess you're right." Krawker shrugged his shoulders, trying to make himself look as normal as possible, although he longed to make the most childish pout on his facial expression. As Jyrosen finally managed to blink, Krawker sat on the ground next to his older brothers.

Jyrosen grunted and then snatched the stone out of Krawker's grasp. His eyes roamed over the surface's appearance for a few moments before he was finally convinced. "This is the stone. I mean it's not every day that you see a stone this color."

"Maybe... maybe we should test it out," Saigru suggested. Jyrosen nodded cautiously, and then closed his eyes.

Terror Mountain

While now trudging along the mounds of snow present within Terror Mountain, Jonathan grasped his long, bushy tail while Justin held the codestone they recently found in the ground, tempted to eat it. However the Elephante paid heed to his best friend, Jonathan, as he led the two in circles, spilling his thoughts aloud. Although his theories on the quite eccentric looking stone didn't make much sense to Justin, he thought Jon was the smartest pretend scientist ever to roam Neopia!

     Or maybe not.

Jonathan halted in front of the advent calendar, which hadn't been touched for months. The decorations that were usually found around the calendar had all vanished, giving any visitor the idea that it was not currently in use. As Jonathan struck another "I'm thinking" pose while rubbing his furry chin, Justin asked, "So, what're we gonna have for lunch?"

The green Wocky growled at his friend's choice of inquiry. How could he be worried about food at such a time like this, when this stone provided such an eerie feeling of victory? There was something nearby that would help them figure out what it was they were looking for, and he was sure of it, but his friend was not providing any help whatsoever. "Hey, Justin?"

     "Yeah, Big J?"

"Shut up, please. You're ruining my concentration. Remember, I need quiet to concentrate."

"Oh, right," Justin quickly replied, and then sat on the ground as to not disturb Jonathan's concentration on the stone they'd just found. The Elephante patted his wrinkled stomach as it grumbled hungrily, and he whispered to himself. "I wish Jon' would hurry up and find his dumb answer so I could eat right now!!" An image of a large, cloud pizza formed in his head. Justin closed his eyes with delight while thinking of the appetizing meal.

Immediately, two things occurred. Jonathan jumped out of his somewhat solemn pose and squealed, "I got it!" as a large pizza appeared on Justin's wide lap. Justin, quite surprised, widened his eyes and began to greedily devour the pizza, not curious as to how it had turned up in the least. Jonathan quite angered by his friend's obliviousness, whapped him upside the head.

"Justin! Listen, I think this all has something to do with that stone. You know, the weather change we saw... and... Hey -- where'd you get that pizza from?"

Justin froze in his hungry movements over the pie and then looked towards Jonathan, and shrugged. In all honesty, he had no idea of where the pizza could've turned up, unless.. "Well, I was just thinking about how stupid you were and hoping that I could eat, then I thought of this wonderful pizza.. and it poofed right here, just like magic, isn't that weird?"

Justin didn't wait from any reply from his friend, and continued hungrily gobbling up the rest of the pie. However, Jonathan wasn't angered by his friend's actions this time -- a large grin spread over his face.

"Where's that stone of yours, Just'?"

"Okay," Saigru gestured, using one of his large paws to show his brother to continue on, although his eyes were closed. "Go on. Wish something practical."

Jyrosen nodded and then thought to himself as told. I wish that a flower would grow next to Saigru on the ground. A few seconds after he made his wish, Saigru found that a small, pink flower began to blissfully sprout a few feet away from where he sat. Krawker gasped happily, knowing that it now was really the magical codestone that they had before.

Saigru nodded. "Okay, now we know it's really the stone. But I'm wondering -- are there more of them?"

Jyrosen frowned, remembering how the codestone had most likely shattered when it hit the ground underneath the cliff. Things weren't looking too good. "What's the chance of there only being one? I mean, you did say that it most likely shattered when it fell to the ground, and now it appears to be back. This stone probably has some sort of enchantment on it, for all we know thousands of others could have a codestone just like this."

Krawker sighed and fell onto his back on the ground. He'd finally gotten his stone back, and now his brothers were thinking that there were even more of them, putting them all in a precarious position. "Maybe we should just make a wish, and have the stone tell us where the other stones are, or something like that."

A few moments of silence passed, and just as Jyrosen frowned towards Krawker, getting ready to reply in opposition to his proposal, Saigru cut in, "Hey, that could actually work."

The spotted Krawk smiled and then sat up, sticking out his tongue towards Jyrosen. However, Saigru raised a paw in a halting gesture. "Don't get too excited yet. This might not be as easy as we think. C'mon, let's go inside and get started."
