Lifestyles of the Affluent and Illustrious

by adoriblelapin

GALLERY OF EVIL - Hello there! This is (Adorible)Lapin speaking for another week of Lifestyles of the Affluent and Illustrious, courtesy of the Neopian Times Appreciation Guild. Today I will take a closer look into the daily life, or just some useful or useless information, of --

Lapin edges closer to a large house constructed of very fine, although wrinkly, wooden materials, covered in vines and withering flowers.

-- none other than the beautiful Acara, Miss Vira. Now, I will be nearing her house in hopes of finding a doorbell by her front entrance, which I can hopefully press and hope that I capture her attention. Hmm, it seems as though the vines have made their way in capturing the interviewer and I appear to be stuck.

I suppose I could always wait until Miss Vira comes out of her own home and I will calmly greet her and ask her to untangle the vines from my legs.

Vira steps out of the building several minutes later, Lapin waving frantically for her attention.

That was certainly fun. Miss Vira and I managed to be free from the vines and are now making our way to her beautiful lounge in which I may interview her and ask Miss Vira of her ways. Miss Vira?

Vira : "Hi. You came for an interview, am I correct?"

Lapin grins cheesily.

Lapin : "I believe so, Miss Vira. You have a wonderful house; it's very large and comfortable and certain very... flourished."

Vira : "I certainly hope so. I've been hoping it would look very attractive and cunning toward visitors, but not many pets and humans have visited my habitat in such a long time."

Lapin : "Do you mean before you were -- ?"

Vira looks at Lapin and blinks.

Vira : "This is an interview, correct? I always love to learn about people and neighbours."

Lapin : "Actually..."

Vira : "How are you?"

Lapin : "Err, fine, thank you. I was going to say that --"

Eventually, I said what I was going to say ("I actually had to walk quite a distance, so I don't think I would be considered a neighbour and I was going to say something else but I forgot... oh yes, I believe you are supposed to be the interviewee and I am the interviewer...") after Miss Vira asked me which Neopets I had, how they were, who they were, what my profession was, what brought me to the place ("I stole my friend's bicycle and rode here. Kidding. I don’t even know how to ride a bike. Kidding.") and many other things that are worth mentioning but not at the moment.

When all of those questions were finished, I began to really interview her, thinking about what a cheesy article this would turn out to be, and if I was going to be eaten by a venus fly trap outside of her house, and if Neopia even had Venus fly traps.

Lapin : "Miss Vira, did you know that you were... err, cursed?"

Vira : "Pardon me?"

Lapin : "Umm, never mind then. Do you know that you were in the gallery of evil?"

Vira : "Pardon me?"

Lapin : "Are these coming as a shock to you or are you having trouble hearing, Miss Vira?"

Vira shifts in her chair.

Vira : "Sorry, I just heard voices in my head. What was that? The gallery of evil, you say? Yes, I know. I am a villain in many ways, I suppose. Perhaps it's my attitude or maybe it's because I distribute mirrors that allow you to appear to be very beautiful, like this magnificent flower here."

Vira points to three withering Scented Hearts Flowers in a mismatched vase sitting on the edge of an old oak drawer to their side.

Vira : "Which reminds me, would you like a mirror?"

Lapin : "Err, no thank you. The next question; do you know about your past and how you changed your image? Any idea at all?"

Vira : "Everyone changes once and a while."

Lapin : "Eh, okay. How did you grow your passion of flowers?"

Vira : "I suppose it's something that's meant to be, like when owners first see their Neopets. It was almost meant to be, as though they created them. Some things are very hard to explain but flowers are just the part of my every day life. Sometimes, though, it seems as though they lost their touch when I kiss them..."

Lapin : "Are you sure that you have no idea that you were cursed or are you just hiding it?"

Vira looks out the window.

Vira : "Lovely day, isn't it?"

Lapin : "Yes, very lovely."

Lapin scribbles rapidly in her interview notebook, which she was writing in for all this time but was too lazy to tell the readers so.

Lapin : "How, and who, managed to building your home?"

Vira : "I used to live in a mansion on this exact spot quite a while ago. This house is pretty too; everything is in the exact position that my old home used to be in, except with flowers sprouting everywhere."

Lapin : "Meaning that it possibly is your NeoHome, except with vines covering their faces?"

Vira stirs and waters the three Scented Hearts Flowers to their side, comes back and sits down on her chair.

Vira : "I suppose. Maybe. Most likely. It does seem a little familiar, doesn't it? Hmm, maybe I should get new furnishing some time..."

Vira glances at a broken glass coffee table at the other end of the room.

Lapin : "Speaking of homes, what happened to your famil..."

Lapin pauses and looks at Vira.

Lapin : "Err, what flowers do you like and why?"

Vira : "I like all types of flowers. They're all wonderfully unique in their own way, much like each and every Neopian. I have to admit, though, I enjoy watching blue and violet flowers blooming together and occupying myself with taking care of large petalled flowers. Oh yes, the smell brings me closer to some, too."

Lapin : "That's fascinating. Do you have any hobbies, other than looking at flowers or anything that has to do with flowers?"

Vira : "Passing out mirrors, trying to clean up... looking at mirrors, giving myself make-up. In fact, I have some on right this minute. I wouldn't look as good without it."

Lapin edges closer to attempt to spot the make-up but sees nothing.

Lapin : "Next, what does your daily life activities consist of?"

Vira : "I have to help plot evil schemes with the Shadow Usul. At night we're always out, raiding areas, stealing and scaring young Neopets... well, I think so, anyway. Sometimes I give up some time to battle with Neopians, beat them badly."

Lapin : "Really? Do you ever lose?"

Vira : "What is a Neopian without losing? Losing merely teaches you things and allows you to continue on but stronger each time. Oh yes, sometimes I go off training some lucky Neopians, giving them mirrors, of course. In the morning it is quite silent, while I roam around the gardens and tend to the flowers."

Lapin looks outside and watches the still, brown flowers standing outside, stretching for miles (or many kilometres).

Lapin : "Is it nice living here?"

Vira : "Oh, very. It's a very large home and I have everything I want in here, which is, mind you, mostly flowers."

Lapin : "That's good. How does it feel to be alone up here? Was it always this still and silent?"

Vira : "Certainly not. In my childhood, Neopets and PetPets always came up here to greet me. Now they've moved away, saying something about a dangerous, winged creature..."

Lapin : "Maybe there's a large Draik living up here. Do you have any things you might share?"

Vira : "I would share everything. I don't need everything in this house and sharing is even better. Not many Neopians come up here to share things anymore. Maybe it's because I use to be quite unfriendly... back then."

Lapin looks sympathetic and mumbles something about sharing things mentally instead of physically under her breath and smiles cheesily at Vira.

Vira : "Is that all you would like to ask?"

Lapin : "Nearly. Next, did you know that many pets looked up to you? Not only because of your beauty..."

Vira : "I am astonished! Really? Is that so?"

Lapin : "Yes. That's why certain people chose to interview you out of all those famous Neopians."

Vira : "Like you?"

Lapin nods and smiles cheesily (again). She shows Vira the page of the notebook to reveal a very, very ugly drawing.

Vira : "That's very..."

Vira takes the picture and a pencil, sketching over it furiously and gave the picture back to Lapin.

Lapin : "Wow! That's spiffy (a very old slang for 'attractive', 'good', or something along those lines, revived by random writers and artists, which should bring me to the fact that 'cheesily' is not a real word)!"

Vira : "Thank you. Drawing used to be one of my hobbies, before I concentrated more on flowers. Well, it seems that I haven't lost my touch or anything, then. That's good..."

And so, Vira and I began talking randomly about random things at random times, having random enjoyment. It was very random, as you can probably tell. After a few hours of crackers and tea and I went back to questioning her a bit more.

Lapin : "Do you read The Neopian Times?"

Vira : "Yes, I do, but nobody likes delivering things to my home, so I end up having to get them the 'villain way'. The Shadow Usul and I have grouped up to be quite a team, you know."

Vira and Lapin bids farewell after a few more moments of chatter and Lapin leaves, dodging plants despite the fact that they were chasing her.

That about wraps up the article. It seems that Vira does know that she is cursed and is a villain but hides those facts. She does, as the gallery of evil says, give out mirrors that makes Neopians look beautiful, but whatever evil thing she did, it is likely that she does not realize it. And, as the picture proved, Vira can turn beautiful things very unpleasant but frightful things dainty. That concludes the end of a bunch of random and cheesy words stuffed into one group... err, article.

Author's Note : A special thank you to the NTAG and all its members, especially Tdyans, for helping me on this article.
