Alternative Cures For Neopian Diseases

by ladyariel32

NEOPIAN HOSPITAL - If your neopet is feeling unwell, look in the list below to see what item you need to cure it. You can purchase the cures from the Neopian Pharmacy, or if they are sold out try asking the friendly Shop Wizard :)

I always feel frustrated when my pet suddenly catches some disease and I have to go and buy the cure. Although some of the available medicines are quite affordable, a lot of them are practically sky-high in price. What can I do except sit, wait, and work hard to earn some extra Neopoints, which could take…days, weeks, probably a few years. Mostly, I just wait and wait and wait until you know, a miracle occurs. And if you say "Ever heard of the Healing Springs?", I will cover my ears and sing in a loud and terribly off-key tone, "LA-LA-LA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!"

My point is, who would want to pay several NP's when you can cure your neopet using much cheaper and easy-to-get items? Anyway, I did extensive research and came up with a list of alternative cures that will cost you little or better yet, no NP's at all. You are free to try any of them or even just a few. I did. Or at least, I used my pets as guinea pigs. Although, they weren't really sick in the first place. *cough cough* Don't worry, they survived. *tries to look assuring* In my list, I included the original cures for certain diseases as well as their estimated prices that may be lower or higher at present.

Disease: Watery Eyes

Symptoms: Your pet will look like it is constantly crying even though it may well be quite happy.

Tried & Tested Cure: Onion Balm

Est. Price Acc. to Shop Wizard: 3,000-50,000 NP's

My Suggested Cure: Instead of applying onion balm to the area around your pet's eyes, purchase a bagguss (costs about 1-10 NP's) from the nearest store or try your luck by spinning the Fruit Machine to get one for free. Using a very efficient plastic butter knife, let your sick pet slice the fruit into pieces. It is guaranteed that in a few hours, he or she will run out of tears to cry. If one bagguss is not enough, buy more until your pet gets well. To remove redness of the eyes, place two bagguss slices on top of your pet's eyelids the way some humans put cucumber slices on theirs as a beauty ritual.

Disease: NeoBlues

Symptoms: Your pet is feeling very down in the dumps, it shows little or no interest in playing or eating anything.

Tried & Tested Cure: Tasty Pie

Est. Price ACC to Shop Wizard: 49,000 NP's-unbuyable

My Suggested Cure: Make your own Tasty Pie! Yes, I am revealing the top-secret tasty pie recipe to all inhabitants of Neopia. Be warned: a lot of the ingredients needed are extremely hard to find and may be a bit expensive. Still, the total expenses won't be as big as when you buy a tasty pie. If you lose hope in the middle of searching, well… that's your loss.

Top-secret No-bake Tasty Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

2 pails of mud fresh from Krawk Island's streets
essence of cloud from a cloud in Faerieland
2 glasses full of chocolate honey from Neopia Central's Food shop
1 lucky Cybunny's foot
5 happiness neggs
3 plates of yellow jelly from Jelly World (which doesn't exist)

Procedure:

In a round pie pan, pour the two pails of mud, two glasses of chocolate honey, and the three plates of yellow jelly. Using a silver spoon, mix the ingredients until you can no longer determine one from the other. Crack open the happiness neggs and toss into the mix. Mix for five minutes before releasing the essence of cloud into the bowl. And for the final touch, throw in a lucky Cybunny's foot. Voila, your very own tasty pie with healing properties. Happy eating!

Disease: Reptillioritus Symptoms: Caused by a bite from a venomous Reptillior, the skin becomes very red and itchy. Your Neopet will refuse to eat and feel very tired all the time.

Tried & Tested Cure: Cactopus Cream

Est. Price ACC to Shop Wizard: 7,000-15,000 NP's

My Suggested Cure: You can get rid of your pet's Reptillioritus by finding and killing the very same Reptillior who bit him or her. That won't cost you anything at all. Really. Only your life. But then, you'll sacrifice anything just to cure your pet, right? As long as it won't cost you any NP's? Here's your chance.

Disease: Fuzzy Fungus

Symptoms: In the most severe cases your Neopets fur can turn purple as it begins to turn into a Fungus Ball.

Tried & Tested Cure: Honey Blossom Extract

Est. Price ACC to Shop Wizard: 9,000+

My Suggested Cure: Buy a Honey Dog and pick up some small wild flowers along the side of the road. Extract all the buzz honey from the Honey Dog and pour into a pitcher. Remove the flowers' petals one by one and throw into the pitcher. Mix. Pour a glass for your sick pet.

Disease: Bloaty Belly

Symptoms: This is what happens when your pet eats too much. Your pet will complain of being bloated and will refuse to eat anything.

Tried & Tested Cure: Flat-U-Less tablets

Est. Price ACC to Shop Wizard: 500-800 NP's

My Suggested Cure: For a few days, let your pet refuse to eat anything. The advantage of having this disease is that you can save NP's by not buying food for that said pet for a short while. But if he or she continues to have Bloaty Belly for more than a week, that pet will get starved. Using the money you set aside for your food budget (the one you didn't use up because your pet didn't want to eat, anyway), buy the cure. If you have so little NP's that you can't buy the cure, force-feed your pet. For example, if he or she sleeps with mouth open…toss the food in while your pet is having a nap. Think of cunning, unique ways to force your feed to eat.

Disease: Ugga-Ugga

Symptoms: Possibly the worst Tyrannian disease, your Neopet's throat becomes so sore that all they can do is make Ugga noises.

Tried & Tested Cure: Sporkle Syrup

Est. Price ACC to Shop Wizard: unbuyable

My Suggested Cure: Purchase a melow and extract the lavender filling inside. Place in a pitcher and mix thoroughly. Add a bottle of water then, mix again. Let the mixture settle for ten minutes before offering a cup to your neopet.

Disease: Kikoughela

Symptoms: Your pet will have a sore throat and coughing fits.

Tried & Tested Cure: Kikoughela Syrup

Est. Price ACC to Shop Wizard: 400-500 NP's

My Suggested Cure: Look closely at the label in front of the bottle of Kikoughela Syrup. Did you notice the picture of a blue Kiko? Now, all you have to do is find a blue Kiko and ask him/her to spare you a few drops of blood. WARNING: It might taste slightly bitter but it works effectively. And, yes I know it sounds a tiny bit gross but is way economical.

Well, time to end my article! Don't be afraid to try any of my suggested cures. Drop me a Neomail if they have proven helpful. If you, yourself, are a researcher for medicine alternatives… I'll be happy to listen to your input.

Note: The author of this article is not responsible for any harmful side effects that might occur because of the usage of these cures (I mean, if ever this article gets published).

Another Note: If you actually believed a word of what I said, well…^^'
