Usually in this particular household, everyone was up
and about, running his or her own errands. Every once in a while, maybe two
Neopets would run into each other, but that was very rare. However, it was a
Thursday afternoon and luckily Neoschool was closed down, so what prevented
the family from doing as they wished?
Rain -- buckets, and buckets of rain.
A small rain shower here and there didn't hurt
the environment, and if it were warm enough, the Neopets from the neighborhood
would run outside and play in the refreshing water. Today was an exception.
The four siblings were literally trapped inside with their owner that day, bored
out of their minds, occupying themselves with driving each other crazy.
Jyrosen and Swirlyhorn were at it again, as they
had been all morning. Jyrosen, who was always hungry, lay lazily upon the carpeted
floor. Swirlyhorn was upset, her cheeks burning with fury - her younger brother
had eaten the last of her fat-free chocolate that was in the refrigerator the
previous night and hadn't even asked her about it beforehand. Jyrosen had a
habit of eating everything in sight, and what angered the Uni the most about
it was that he never seemed to gain any weight off of it.
"You're so greedy, Jyrosen! Couldn't you have
left it alone just this once?" The Uni frowned, staring at the empty chocolate
wrapper that lay on the counter. All of its previous contents were completely
consumed by her brother, who topped it off by licking the rest of the chocolate
off of the sides of the wrapper.
"No," Jyrosen burped, resting his paws on the
surface of his well-fitted stomach. "It told me to eat it, Swirlyhorn, I'm telling
you -- that's what it said!"
She gritted her teeth and released an angry yell.
The chocolate wrapper was tossed into the garbage as well as the rest of the
empty food containers that were found in the fridge. "Do you think I was born
yesterday?"
"In all honesty, you act that way."
"ARGH! Mom, can you tell Jyrosen to leave me
alone?"
There was no response. Their owner, apparent,
was busily folding blankets in Swirlyhorn's bedroom. Even so, she was used to
hearing random squeals of anger from her Neopets, and most of the time it was
just a playful, non-serious call. Jyrosen snickered and began to mock his sister
in a high-pitched tone. "Momma, can yew tell Jyrosen to leaf me aloone?"
Swirlyhorn stomped her hooves frustratingly on
the floor and stormed into the bathroom. Why was it always so difficult being
the oldest? She wondered to herself, and then began to brush her teeth in order
to wear out some of the anger built inside of her. Her brother chuckled at his
success, but quickly decided to give in and go buy his sister some almost-fat-free
chocolate anyway.
Heading out the door was the easy part of his
walk to the Neopia Central was the easy part of the Lupe's trip. His reputation
of being the hungriest in the neighborhood gave him experience in heading to
the main shops easily, and quickly, despite what the weather conditions may
be. The large drops of rain heavily matted themselves within each strand of
his fur, creating a monster-like touch to his usually charming appearance.
Coming to the chocolate store was also quite
easy, but on his way back was another story. Jyrosen found that the amount of
water in his fur was overwhelming, and he hurried back home without watching
where he was going. "Man, this rain is pretty bad..." he pointed out, while
trying his best to continue on the trip back home. Taking a shortcut past the
Rainbow Pool, with his eyesight blurred, is what helped the Lupe accidentally
encounter Neopia's prominent character, Boochi. The two unexpectedly collided
into each other.
"Hey, watch where you're going!" Jyrosen wailed,
watching as his bag of chocolates fell onto the wet ground. The leaves of the
Money Tree created an eerie pitter-patter effect to his surroundings. After
he didn't receive a response for several minutes, Jyrosen used the back of one
of his paws to wipe the wetness away from his large eyes.
The thing that lay before him wound up being
quite recognizable once he regained his eyesight. It was a small, baby Bruce
in fact, with a red ribbon messily tied around his neck and a pink hue taken
effect within his short fur. His black eyes bore into Jyrosen's gaze angrily.
"Who do you think you're talking to like that?"
the pink Bruce inquired sourly, straining his muscles in order to hold up his
purple, green, and red colored ray gun. Jyrosen raised the palms of his paws
up to show that he meant no harm. "Hey man, chill, it was accidental."
"Accidental my left flipper." Boochi stuck out
his chubby, pink tongue. "You're gonna pay for that, buster!"
"Says who?" Jyrosen frowned in defense. "I barely
did anything to you!"
The small Bruce paid no heed. Raising up his
plastic gun to aim towards the Lupe's large nose, he cried, "Take that, you
mean fool!"
Pressing the button on his ray gun, Boochi fired
at Jyrosen. However, something slightly different occurred. The rain interacted
with the electric force of the ray gun, and somehow, the electricity reversed
the effect of the ray. Jyrosen, who was expected to shrink and take the form
of the common "baby", transformed into something much different. His fur, which
would normally turn blue, became an icky gray color, and patches of it fell
off. The fur on his face began to shrivel up unattractively, as if he were 1,000
years old. His tail coiled almost lifelessly to the ground.
"Loo-loo... look... look at... look at what you've
done to me!"
The baby Bruce cackled although he himself was
quite surprised. Never before had the effects of his ray become unpredictable
-- but this, this was a first! With fear of being attacked in some sort of way
(although Jyrosen wasn't able to do much), Boochi crawled quickly towards the
Book Shop for safety.
Jyrosen began to nervously sweat. Only if he
hadn't run into that quick-tempered rascal, only if he could see where he was
going, this would've never happened. The rainstorm began to worsen, the sky
shifting to an angry purple shade, the clouds blanketed atop each other. The
gray Lupe wailed and tried to steady himself upon his wobbly joints in order
to face the problems that lie before him.
To be continued...
