Snowy stretched, arching her back and flexing her paws,
as she slightly opened her eyes the next morning. The sun had just come into
view and Snowy had comfortably awoken. She sat down and looked around for Blizzard.
Cocking her head, she thought. Where is he?'
Suddenly, a large, dark colored Kougra jumped
in front of Snowy, his tough muscles sweating as if he had been running. His
sharp fangs were threateningly exposed as he let out a ferocious snarl.
Snowy pressed her ears flat against her head
and looked at the other Kougra in confusion, but she stood back defensively.
The Kougra looked Snowy in the eyes then slashed his extended claws across her
face, smacking her harshly against the ground. His hit was very critical so
Snowy lied there unconscious.
***
Snowy awoke suddenly in a large cave. She gasped as a lot of large Kougras
came into focus. "What do you want-and why am I here????" Snowy asked, her heart
beating rapidly.
A dark colored Kougra with sharp wings walked
up to Snowy from behind a few of the other Kougras. He had long fangs that hung
out of his mouth. "There are actually a few reasons. You see; you are the only
niece of a certain Kougra, a magical snow Kougra named Kosesho. He is very strong,
and we have been searching for him for a long time. But since he is a magical
snow Kougra, he hides in the snow, and sometimes in the harshest of blizzards."
"What are you talking about?? I've never even
had the chance to meet my uncle! Why would he want to come to you and your Kougras
when he doesn't even know who I am???" Snowy said harshly because she was confused.
The winged Kougra laughed, "No, Snowy!!! He
knows about you! You've just never had the chance to meet him! But he still
knows about you! The reason you've never seen him is because he probably thought
it was too dangerous for you and your family if he was around you, because of
us."
I never knew that my uncle actually knew about me… I thought this Kougra
was just lying. Besides, my mother is closer to my uncle anyway. Although, I'm
glad they didn't capture her. But there has to be another reason why they captured
me instead, Snowy thought. Then she spoke again, "How do you know my name?"
The winged Kougra smirked, "Spies." Then he
continued, "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Sehmno."
"Why am I here? There must be another reason,"
Snowy looked at the Kougra suspiciously.
"Yes, I'll get to that." Sehmno said, "Anyway,
we will bring it to Kosesho's attention that you were captured-"
"What? I thought you said you couldn't find
my uncle!" Snowy yelled. Although it wasn't in her personality to be so rude
and frustrated, the fear and confusion that lied in this situation was distracting
and rough.
"Just leave that to us," Sehmno said, turning
around and then saying to the other Kougras, "Where is Aoraef?"
"I'll go get him," one of the Kougras said and
walked away.
"Who's Aoraef?" Snowy said.
Sehmno turned back to Snowy. "He's my son."
"What about him?" Snowy said.
A shadow-colored Kougra with wings, and fangs
about an inch shorter than Sehmno walked up to them. "Hello, Snowy."
"This is my son." Sehmno looked over at Aoraef
and back at Snowy.
Snowy just gave a confused look.
Sehmno continued, "He would like to spend his
life with you-"
"WHAT!?!?!!!?" Snowy jumped. "NO! What are you
TALKING about?!"
"Didn't you hear me?"
"Yes, I heard you!!! And NO I'm not spending
my life with that Kougra standing right next to you!"
"When did I ever say you had a choice?" Sehmno
growled viciously.
"Do I even care???? You could thrust me off
a ten billion foot high cliff before I would even slightly THINK of giving in
to all of this by spending the rest of my life with that Kougra and letting
you hurt my uncle! Anyway, why do you want to capture my uncle???"
"Since he's a very strong, magical snow Kougra,
I want to take his powers so that I can be stronger than him and finally defeat
him," Sehmno said. "After defeating him, since I would be stronger by having
his powers, I would be able to do more things, and maybe even fulfil some of
my plans…" Then he looked over at a few of the Kougras next to him. "Stand guard
of her!" He shifted his glance over at Aoraef. "Come on, Aoraef." Then Sehmno
and Aoraef walked away.
The other Kougras walked up to Snowy and stood
guard next to her. She looked at all of them. She then darted away and ran swiftly.
She looked back to see them pursuing her with bewildered looks on their faces.
"Stop her!" One of the Kougras yelled, motioning
his head in Snowy's direction for others to see.
A few other Kougras joined in and ran after
Snowy.
Snowy's paws swiftly padded along the snow.
She came to a large crack in the ground and made a leap over it. She landed
on the other side and continued rushing. She could see the entrance of the cave.
She looked back at the other Kougras, who weren't
too far behind her. Then she reached the entrance of the cave. The sun shone
onto her white fur as she ran out. She made her way into a forest. She agilely
maneuvered between the trees and then leapt into a large tree, full of fresh
leaves. She peered through the cracks of the branches. After a while, the other
Kougras gave up and left.
Snowy sighed deeply in relief. She thought.
Good, at least they're gone now. But they'll probably be back later.
She then jumped down from the tree and wondered where Blizzard was. She padded
through the wintry forest and then saw the five Eyries that she and Blizzard
had come across when Snowy was on her quest before.
Blizzard said those Eyries are dangerous,
that he didn't trust them, Snowy thought. But he was a little overprotective
of me and I didn't like him as much at the time. He probably was wrong. Since
we had just met each other, he probably wanted to be in control, and make sure
we did what he wanted to do, not my choice. So instead of going to Faerieland
with the Eyries, he might have preferred a different way or something. But I'll
stay cautious of these Eyries just in case.
The Eyries approached Snowy. "Hello," one of
the Eyries said slyly.
"Uh, hey," Snowy greeted, but stayed alert.
"Remember that blue Kougra, Blizzard?" "Yeah," the Eyrie answered.
"Did you happen to see him anywhere?"
"Yes," the Eyrie said, "He stopped and talked
to us for a while and told us where he was headed. We can show you where he
is if you want."
'Stopped and talked' to them?? Wait-Blizzard
said he didn't trust them, why would he talk to them and tell them where he
was going????? They must be lying! Snowy thought. Blizzard was right!
Snowy backed up a bit. She stared at the Eyries
for a second in fear and thought frantically of what she should do. The five
Eyries were much too strong looking and big for her to fight all at once. Then
she turned and dashed away from them. She kept running until she made her way
to a pond. The frozen water sparkled in the sunlight. Although it was risky,
there was really no other option; the ice might give Snowy the advantage, since
she was a snow Kougra.
She hurried onto the freezing ice and slid across,
balancing on it and trying not to shift her weight too much so that she wouldn't
break the ice. The Eyries flew up and then swooped down toward Snowy. She jumped
to the side, dodging the Eyries, and landed on the frozen pond again nimbly.
An Eyrie dove down toward her again.
Snowy ran toward the Eyrie and pounced up onto
the side of his back. She held on tight and bit the Eyrie hard in the back.
The Eyrie let out a thunderous screech and fell down onto the ice, Snowy flinging
off of his back. She fell hard onto the frozen pond. The ice began breaking
all over the pond because of the massive impacts Snowy and the large bird had
made from their falls.
The Eyrie frantically pulled himself up and
jumped off of the cracking ice; ascending into the air. Snowy stood up and jumped
off of the ice. One of the Eyries swooped down and whacked Snowy across the
face with his razor-sharp talons. Snowy raised her paw and hit the Eyrie. The
huge bird smacked Snowy across the face again and the other four Eyries swooped
down in front of the Kougra. One of the Eyries rammed head-on into Snowy.
***
Snowy woke up, blinked a few times, and a few of the evil Kougras and the
five threatening Eyries came into focus. "You were working with those dark Kougras?????????"
Snowy asked.
"Of course," one of the Eyries said and laughed.
Blizzard was definitely right, Snowy thought. But these Eyries are
more than just tough Eyries looking for trouble…
To be continued...
