While not technically villainous, one should always exercise caution when dealing with (or simply near) the Esophagor. Though he lacks the plotting attitude of other Haunted Woods denizens, such as Hubrid Nox, he is by no means harmless. It is rumoured that a great deal of disappearances that occur in the Haunted Woods may in fact be due to the Esophagor's infamous appetite. Of course, this has never been proven, though many believe that this strange beast can be deceptively fast when desperate for food.

There are countless reports of Neopets walking near the Esophagor with their friends that claim one of the friends mysteriously disappeared, despite only being out of sight for a moment. In hindsight, many have pointed a finger at the Esophagor after such instances, but no one has yet dared to confront him.

In any case, all Neopians are rightfully warned to be aware of the dangers that come with travelling in the Haunted Woods. Remember to never travel alone, and always keep your friends in full view. For the greater good of all, it is asked that you quest for the Esophagor as often as possible, since the more that his hunger is satiated, the safer conditions will be for all Neopians.
