My Eyrie and I

My Eyrie and I share a strong tie,
Above Neopia we fly,
Across the velvet night sky,
Down the ribbon of moonlight,
At our home we end our flight.
I love to hear my Eyrie speak, but I know
That music has a far more pleasing sound.
My Eyrie stands tall wherever we go,
But when she walks her tail drags on the ground.
Our bond is truly rare,
And no one can compare.

The Eyrie

An Eyrie flaps his wings.
They send up clouds of dust.
The Eyrie, painted simply green,
Is proud to be himself.

He stands tall and majestic,
while fighting
and grooming.
He is domesticated yet wild.

That Which We Call Happiness...

The Eyrie gazed upon the lands
And soared into the mountain skies.
His son on parapet did stand
With sorrow in his heart and eyes.

His father lit on yonder stone
And, having braved the mountain wind,
Beseeched his son, still perched alone
Against the weathered rockface pinned.

"My boy," he sang, in throaty verse
"We're not like pets below who crawl,
Our pow'rs of flight are not a curse,
So spread thine wings, you shall not fall."

The young one met his father's gaze
And turned to face the brilliant light
Of sunny skies and cloudy haze
And without faltering took flight.

And when they were against the sun
And in the mountain winds' caress,
The father spoke unto his son:
"It's this which we call happiness."

The Golden Eyrie

It's dark and the moonlight is shining.
Over the skies I see something that is blinding.
The flash of talons, the glitter of gold.
Eyes fierce and intensely bold.
It soared over the sky with wings outstretched.
Does this seem far-fetched?
For I thought I saw a golden Eyrie flying in the sky.
This Eyrie flying so high.
I stood for a while trying to decide
If what I saw was really a true sight
Or in my vision a flaw.
Then there was no mistaking it,
For I heard a deafening cry.
It was the sound of an Eyrie's mournful soul let fly.
For the beauty of this Eyrie was hard to make real.
So until this day I have kept my lips sealed.
For I am sure there was never an Eyrie
That I have seen more beautiful.
Than the Eyrie that night that appeared so dutiful.
As the Eyrie flashed through the night skies.
I knew I would never see it again
For something as beautiful as that alone it flies.
